- This year’s Programme will take on a record 330 students from Sohar and Liwa

SOHAR
Port and Freezone is gearing up for the launch of its fourth annual
Summer Educational Programme. The Programme is designed to help students
in Sohar and the nearby province of Liwa to enhance their English and
IT knowledge, arming them with vital skills that will help increase
their employment prospects in the future. The Summer Educational
Programme commences on August 1 and will last for two weeks.
This
year’s Programme is being held in partnership with the Ministry of
Education and SOHAR’s neighbouring International Maritime College of
Oman (IMCO). The Programme has helped almost a thousand local school
students over the last three years and this year 330 students aged 10 to
14 will be participating.
The
Programme was launched four years ago, to help augment participants’
educational acumen which will help them with finding employment in the
future. The Programme aims to provide surrounding communities with the
skills and income required to improve their own livelihoods and meet the
development priorities outlined in the Oman government’s Economic
Vision 2020.
Classes
will take place at IMCO, a specialist education and training institute
in SOHAR, which offers Diploma and Degree Courses for the Maritime,
Shipping, Port, Transport and Petrochemical Process industries.

يستعد ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة بصحار لإطلاق برنامج التدريب الصيفي السنوي الرابع. صُمم البرنامج لمساعدة الطلاب في صحار ومنطقة لوى القريبة في تعزيز معرفتهم باللغة الإنجليزية وتكنولوجيا المعلومات، وتسليحهم بالمهارات الأساسية التي تسهم في زيادة فرصهم الوظيفية مستقبلاً. يبدأ برنامج التدريب الصيفي في الأول من أغسطس ويستغرق أسبوعين.
يُقام البرنامج هذا العام بالاشتراك مع وزارة التربية والتعليم وكلية عمان البحرية الدولية (IMCO) القريبة من ميناء صحار. ساعد البرنامج نحو ألف طالب عماني من طلاب المدارس في المنطقة على مدار الأعوام الثلاثة الماضية، وهذا العام يشارك في البرنامج 330 طالباً تتراوح أعمارهم بين 10 و14 عاماً.
أُطلق البرنامج قبل أربعة أعوام للمساهمة في رفع مستوى التحصيل التعليمي للمشاركين مما سيساعدهم في الحصول على فرص وظيفية في المستقبل. يهدف البرنامج إلى تعزيز المهارات المعرفية اللازمة للطلاب والتي تسهم في نهاية المطاف في كسب الدخل المطلوب لرفع مستوى معيشتهم وتلبية طموحات التنمية الاقتصادية للسلطنة.
تُعقد الفصول الدراسية في كلية عمان البحرية الدولية؛ وهي معهد تعليمي وتدريبي متخصص مقام في صحار حيث أنه إلى جانب هذا البرنامج الصيفي فإن الكلية تمنح دورات تدريبية ودرجات علمية في مجالات العلوم البحرية والشحن والموانئ والنقل والصناعات البتروكيماوية.
صرح أندريه تويت، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة ميناء صحار قائلاً: "يسعدنا أن نقوم بإدارة برنامج التدريب الصيفي مجدداً هذا العام، ونتطلع إلى الترحيب بمجموعة أخرى من الشباب الطموح النابغ مع بدء البرنامج. تلتزم شركة ميناء صحار بتهيئة الفرص للشباب المقيمين في المنطقة ويُعد برنامج التدريب الصيفي جزءاً صغيراً من خطتنا الكبرى الرامية إلى العمل مع المجتمع المحلي لرفع مستوى رفاهية المنطقة في جميع المجالات الممكنة".
بازدياد حجم الاستثمارات الكلية حالياً عن 21 مليار دولار أمريكي تزداد أيضاً فرص العمل مع توسع العمل في الميناء والمنطقة الحرة المجاورة يوماً بعد يوم. وقد عقَّب جمال عزيز-الرئيس التنفيذي للمنطقة الحرة بصحار- على ذلك قائلاً: "الميناء والمنطقة الحرة بصحار يشهدان نمواً مضطرداً ونحن فخورون بما تم تحقيقه حتى الآن حيث يتيح هذا النمو فرص وظيفية عديدة للمهارات الشابة في المنطقة. يُعد البرنامج الصيفي التعليمي فرصة رائعة لمواءمة طموحاتنا المستقبلية وفقاً لاتجاهات السوق وإشراك المواهب الصاعدة بمرحلة عمرية مبكرة. لا أعتقد أن هناك فرصة أفضل من ذلك".
