Regional decision makers to gather at biennial Offshore Marine & Work Boats conference as industry looks to future proof commercial potential
Seatrade Offshore Marine & Workboats Middle East - the region’s leading event for offshore marine-related industries, workboat operators, builders and equipment suppliers – has revealed details of its 2015 conference programme with a stellar line-up of industry influencers and decision makers confirmed to speak at the biennial event.
Returning to Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 5-7 October 2015 for its 5th edition, the three-day conference will open with a keynote forum that will set the scene for 72 hours of intense discussion and strategic debate covering the current issues and challenges impacting the industry today.
“The workboat and offshore industry is incredibly dynamic and complex, and with the existing low oil price situation dominating the market environment, the high level of unpredictability affecting operators, owners and the marine sector as a whole is forcing players to re-evaluate their strategies to mitigate negative commercial repercussions,” said Vanessa Stephens, Managing Director, Middle East & Indian Subcontinent, Seatrade.
Leading the keynote session will be Eng. Shamis Al Dhaheri, Chairman, Ali & Sons Marine Engineering & MD, Ali & Sons Group; Dr Khaled Al Mazrouei, CEO, Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Company and Rene Kofod-Olsen, Chief Executive Officer, Topaz Energy & Marine. The three experts will discuss the current business environment and market outlook as well as look at effective resource allocation to ensure profitability in an increasingly competitive market environment
Another highlight of the day one schedule is the Marine and Offshore Leaders Forum, taking place from 3-5 pm. The in-depth session will look at the future direction of the workboat and offshore sector as oil and gas price volatility continues to destabilise market conditions.
While previously high energy prices have been a successful catalyst for supply growth, lower oil prices have sparked a major shake-out of cost in the industry. The big question is whether lower oil prices will be sustainable if the needed upstream investment fails to come through. Not a problem for the next year or two, but will certainly be an issue at the back end of the decade,” said Bill Farren-Price, CEO, Petroleum Policy Intelligence, and one of the forum speakers.
The forum will deliver a frank and honest evaluation of the industry’s current status through a series of interactive power sessions that will give delegates expert insight into the latest commercial developments and future market outlook as well as share their own experiences and strategic commentary.
“There has been significant investment into new on and offshore facilities, services and technology in recent years as our clients demand ever higher standards of quality, safety and security. This is all reasonable, as is their demand for cost efficiency but as we look to the long-term profitability of our sector with depressed oil prices and pressure to reduce prices, the future looks challenging. Day two and three sessions this year include The Shipbuilding Technology Forum; The Human Element; a Finance Forum as well as two special regional ‘power hours’ about operational issues in the Caspian, with another dedicated to Africa.
The 2015 event will build on the success of the 2013 edition which generated US$850 million in onsite orders, welcomed almost 5,000 participants (46% increase over 2011) from 54 countries, 211 exhibiting companies and increased its floor space by 8% to nearly 4,000 square metres. The 2015 showcase has already sold 80% of the 4,680 square metres of exhibition space reserved this year, signing up over 165 exhibitors.

تستضيف أبوظبي في الفترة بين 5 و7 أكتوبر 2015 الدورة الخامسة لمؤتمر الشرق الأوسط للأعمال البحرية وسفن العمليات، الحدث الأبرز من نوعه في المنطقة للصناعات البحرية وسفن العمليات وشركات تزويد المعدات البحرية، وفقا لما أعلنته شركة سيتريد التي تنظم الحدث.
ويسلط المؤتمر، الذي ينعقد في مركز أبو ظبي الوطني للمعارض، الضوء على مختلف الجوانب المتعلقة بالصناعات والأعمال المرتبطة بالقطاع البحري في المنطقة لاسيما ما يخص العمليات البحرية وسفن العمليات والإمداد اضافة إلى الفرص الآنية والمستقبلية التي يوفرها القطاع والتحديات التي تواجهه في الوقت الحاضر.
وقالت فانيسا ستيفنز، العضو المنتدب لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشبه القارة الهندية في سيتريد: "إن قطاع الأعمال البحرية وسفن العمليات يتسم بديناميكية قوية للغاية. ومع الأوضاع الراهنة المتمثلة بانخفاض أسعار النفط التي تسيطر على بيئة السوق وتؤثر بشكل مباشر على أعمال المشغلين والملاك والقطاع البحري بصورة عامة، وتجبرهم على إعادة تقييم استراتيجياتهم للحد من التداعيات السلبية التجارية الناجمة عن ذلك على أعمالهم".
ويشارك في الجلسة الافتتاحية لمؤتمر الشرق الأوسط للأعمال البحرية وسفن العمليات كل من المهندس شامس الظاهري، رئيس مجلس ادارة شركة علي وأولاده للهندسة البحرية والعضو المنتدب لمجموعة علي وأولاده، والدكتور خالد المزروعي، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة أبو ظبي لبناء السفن، ورينيه كوفود- أولسن، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة توباز للطاقة والملاحة، حيث يتحدثون عن بيئة الأعمال الحالية للقطاع البحري وتوقعات السوق على ضوء انخفاض أسعار النفط وتأثيراتها على الأعمال البحرية اضافة إلى تحديد المصادر الفعالة لضمان تحقيق الربحية وسط البيئة التنافسية التي يشهدها القطاع.
ويشهد اليوم الأول للمؤتمر فعاليات منتدى القادة والأعمال البحرية الذي ينعقد بين الساعة الثالثة والخمسة بعد الظهر، حيث يناقش في جلساته آخر التطورات الخاصة بقطاع الأعمال البحرية وسفن العمليات واتجاهاته المستقبلية في ظل استمرار تقلب أسعار النفط والغاز وتداعيات ذلك على أوضاع السوق.
وقال بل فارن-برايس، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة بتروليوم بوليسي انتليجنس، وأحد المتحدثين في المنتدى: "في الوقت الذي كانت فيه أسعار الطاقة المرتفعة في السابق حافزا ناجحا لنمو المعروض، جاء تراجع أسعار النفط ليخلق هزة عنيفة فيما يتعلق بالتكاليف الخاصة بصناعة الأعمال البحرية. نحن نتساءل هنا حول ما إذا كانت الأسعار المنخفضة للنفط ستصبح مستدامة في حالة الفشل في جذب الاستثمارات المطلوبة. الأمر لا يتعلق بالسنة أو السنتين المقبلتين، ولكنه بالتأكيد سيصبح قضية خلال العقد لمقبل".
وقال أيان هوجو، المدير الإقليمي لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشبه القارة الهندي في شركة سمت لامنالكو: "كانت هناك استثمارات معقولة في مجال المرافق والخدمات والتكنولوجيا البحرية خلال السنوات الأخيرة، تماشيا ما مطالب الزبائن المتعلقة بمعايير الجودة عالية واجراءآت اللسلامة والأمان، ونحن نتطلع إلى تحقيق الربحية في القطاع على المدى البعيد. ومع ما تخلقه أسعار النفط من تحديات بالنسبة للقطاع على نطاق واسع، فنحن نقف أمام منعطف حاسم لتوقعاتنا وبالتالي فإن هذا المنتدى يعد فرصة رائعة لمناقشة استراتيجيات فعالة لتجاوز هذه التحديات".

ويخصص المنتدى كذلك جلسات لمناقشة عوامل العرض والطلب وما يرتبط بها من طلبيات محتملة اضافة إلى سبل النجاح وتأمين عقود جديدة ووجهات نظر شركات النفط الوطنية حول توقعاتها من المقاولين والآفاق الخاصة بأحواض بناء واصلاح السفن والفرص المتاحة من البحر الأحمر وبحر قزوين وأفريقيا وجنوب آسيا.
ويتضمن برنامج اليومين الأول والثاني لمؤتمر هذا العام انعقاد منتدى حول تكنولوجيا بناء السفن والموارد البشرية والتمويل إضافة إلى جلسة حصرية بعنوان "ساعة الطاقة" حول القضايا المتعلقة بأعمال التشغيل في بحر قزوين وأفريقيا.
ويعول مؤتمر الشرق الأوسط للأعمال البحرية وسفن العمليات 2015 على النجاح الذي حققه في دورة 2013 حيث حقق صفقات تجارية بمقدار 850 مليون دولار واستقطب أكثر من 5 آلاف مشارك بزيادة 46 في المائة عن دورة 2011 من 54 دولة و211 شركة عارضة. وتم بيع 80 في المائة من مساحة المعرض المصاحب للمؤتمر حتى الآن والتي تبلغ 4,680 متر مربع وبلغ عدد العارضين فيه حتى اللحظة 165 عارضا.
