Makes intensive efforts to develop agricultural sector to reduce dependence on oil exports
Riyadh – August 31, 2015: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has witnessed remarkable agricultural development over the last three decades, successfully turning large areas of desert into agricultural fields. It is a major accomplishment for an arid country that receives the world’s lowest rainfall of about four inches a year. Currently, the KSA is a leading exporter of a variety of agricultural products including organice products and olives and oil as well as the dairy products, eggs, fish, poultry, fruits, vegetables, and flowers to the markets around the world.
Although the KSA has a huge desert land, it also boasts of the areas where the climate has favored agriculture. The country has taken great strides in developing its agricultural sector by implementing major irrigations projects and adding previously barren areas to its stock of cultivatable land. Today, agriculture makes a substantial contribution to the KSA’s economy. It is worth mentioning that the city of Jouf is one of the cities that has been developed for its agricultural nature and has received special concern in planting olives as it has around 12.300.000 olive trees and the city of Jouf markets its production internally as well as internationally to some of the European and the Arab countires.
To reduce its dependence on the revenue earned from oil exports as the main source of income and to produce more food for its increasing population with a high standard of living, the KSA has been making intensive efforts, through its five-year development plans, to develop its agricultural sector. Cultivated land in the KSA has dramatically increased because of government encouragement and financial aids and the country is presently witnessing an unprecedented exploitation of its agricultural potential. The introduction of sophisticated technology and modern machinery and cultivation of new crops and different varieties have led to the establishment of the greenhouse industry and large agricultural projects. This has not only improved KSA’s self-sufficiency but also the export of some products such as wheat, dates, watermelon, poultry, eggs and fresh milk.
Under the continued patronage and support of the KSA’s Ministry of Agriculture, Saudi Agriculture – the Middle East’s largest agriculture exhibition is conducted every year to support the industry by attracting exhibitors from the Middle East, Europe, the Americas and Asia in addition to local companies who will be displaying the latest agricultural products, services and equipment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The show’s visitors include high-ranking officials, major manufacturers, dealers, agents and distributors looking to explore partnerships and growth opportunities within the largest and fastest-growing agricultural market in the GCC region.
In contribution to the agriculture sector in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Agriculture exhibition 2015 will be held from October 11 to 14, 2015, at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in the capital of KSA. Organized by the Riyadh Exhibitions Company, the show will be held concurrently with Saudi Agrofood 2015.
The Saudi Agiculture exhibition will be inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture, H.E Abdulrahman bin Abdulmuhsen Al Fadhly. The expo is supported by the ministry of agriculture and sponsored by Fakih poultry and ARASCO as diamond sponsors and the Riyadh Chmaber of Commerce and Inustry is the expos strategic partner. It is worth mentioning that more than 350 specialized exhibitors from the Middle East, Europe, the Americas and Asia, in addition to local companies will be showcasing the latest in agricultural products, services and equipment.

السعودية تعزّز مكانتها العالمية في تصدير المنتجات الزراعية والألبان
الرياض، 31 أغسطس 2015 - حقّقت المملكة العربية السعودية طفرة زراعيةً كبرى في العقود الثلاثة الأخيرة مع تحويل العديد من أراضيها الصحراوية إلى حقول زراعية خضراء، بما يعد من أهم الإنجازات التي تتميز بها السعودية خاصة وأنها تعتبر واحدة من الدول الصحراوية التي تسجل أدنى معدلات هطول الأمطار في العالم بواقع أربعة بوصة سنويا فقط. واليوم، تحتل المملكة مكانة رائدة في تصدير توليفة واسعة من المنتجات الزراعية والغذائية إلى مختلف أسواق العالم، وخاصة الزراعات العضوية وإنتاج الزيت والزيتون ومنتجات الألبان والأجبان والبيض والسمك والدواجن والفواكه والخضروات والزهور.
وعلى الرغم من المساحات الصحراوية الشاسعة لديها، فإن السعودية تضم أيضاً عدداً من المناطق ذات المناخ المناسب لتعزيز الإنتاج الزراعي وخاصة العضوية منها. وبالفعل، اتخذت المملكة خطوات كبيرة نحو تطوير القطاع الزراعي المحلي وذلك من خلال تنفيذ مشاريع الري الكبرى ودعم التوسع الزراعي من خلال تحويل العديد من الأراضي القاحلة إلى أراض خصبة صالحة للزراعة. ويعد القطاع الزراعي المحلي اليوم ركيزة أساسيةً من الركائز التي يقوم عليها الإقتصاد السعودي.
وتعد منطقة الجوف من إحدى المدن التي إزدهرت فيها الزراعة وهي أكثر مناطق المملكة اهتماماً بزراعة الزيتون حيث تبلغ عدد أشجار الزيتون قرابة 12.300.000شجرة وتسوق المنطقة إنتاجها السنوي داخلها وبعض دول اوروبا والدول العربية.
ويأتي تطوير القطاع الزراعي في إطار الخطط التنموية الخمسية التي تنتهجها الحكومة السعودية لتقليل معدلات الإعتماد على الإيرادات المتأتية من صادرات النفط كمصدر رئيس للدخل وفي الوقت نفسه زيادة الإنتاج الغذائي في ظل نمو التعداد السكاني وإرتفاع مستوى المعيشة في المملكة. ويعد الدعم الحكومي والمساعدات المالية من العوامل الأساسية التي ساهمت في تحقيق هذا التوسع الزراعي الكبير بالتزامن مع الجهود غير المسبوقة التي تشهدها المملكة لتوظيف الإمكانات الزراعية المتاحة. وعكفت السعودية أيضاً على تبني أحدث التكنولوجيا والآلات المتطورة لزراعة أنواع مختلفة من المحاصيل، بما عاد بالمنفعة الكبيرة على مستوى نمو صناعة الدفيئات الزراعية وتطوير المشاريع الزراعية الكبرى. وقد أسهم ذلك إلى حد كبير في رفع مستوى الإكتفاء الذاتي في السعودية ودفع عجلة تصدير بعض المنتجات الزراعية كالقمح والتمور والبطيخ والدواجن والبيض والحليب الطازج.
وفي هذا السياق، ينطلق "المعرض الزراعي السعودي"، الحدث الأكبر من نوعه المتخصص في المجال الزراعي في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، كل عام تحت رعاية ودعم وزارة الزراعة السعودية بهدف جمع الشركات المحلية والمتخصصين من مختلف أنحاء منطقة الشرق الأوسط وأوروبا والأمريكيتين وآسيا تحت سقف واحد لإستعراض أحدث المنتجات والخدمات والمعدات الزراعية. ويقدم الحدث منصة ممتازة للزوار من الشخصيات رفيعة المستوى والمصنعين والتجار والوكالات والموزعين وأصحاب الإختصاص لبناء الشراكات المتينة والاستفادة من فرص النمو المتاحة في أسواق دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي عموما والسعودية خصوصا.
وستقام دورة العام من "المعرض الزراعي السعودي"، و"المعرض السعودي لتغليف الغذاء" الذي تنظّمهما شركة "الرياض للمعارض"، في الفترة من 28 ذو الحجة إلى 1 محرم المقبل (11 إلى 14 أكتوبر 2015م) في مركز الرياض الدولي للمؤتمرات والمعارض، وذلك بالتزامن مع فعاليات "المعرض السعودي للأغذية الزراعية 2015".
ومن المقرر أن يفتتح الحدث معالي المهندس عبدالرحمن بن عبدالمحسن الفضلي، وزير الزراعة السعودي، وذلك بمشاركة ما يزيد على 350 جهة عارضة من مختلف أنحاء المنطقة والعالم ونخبة من الشركات المحلية لتسليط الضوء على آخر التطورات والإبتكارات في المجال الزراعي. ويحظى "المعرض الزراعي السعودي" و"المعرض السعودي لتغليف الغذاء" برعاية كل من "مزارع فقيه للدواجن" وشركة "أراسكو" كراعيين ماسيين، بالإضافة إلى "الغرفة التجارية الصناعية بالرياض" كشريك إستراتيجي.
