Cairo, 23 April 2015 - Omar Samra has successfully reached the North Pole at 5am on the 21st of April 2015, raising Egypt’s flag and making history by becoming the first Egyptian and one of less than 40 people to complete the Explorers Grand Slam.
The Explorers Grand Slam is the feat of climbing the highest mountain on every continent, known as the 7 Summits, and skiing the last degree to both the South and North poles.
With this achievement, Omar culminates a 20-year journey since he first dreamt of summiting Mount Everest when he was only sixteen years old. Samra, who has never given up on his dream, was the first Egyptian and youngest Arab, at the time, to summit Mount Everest.

Samra is also the first Egyptian to complete the 7 Summits challenge on 31 May 2013, climbing the highest mountain on all seven continents.
On 5 December 2013, Samra marked a new international achievement when he was the only Arab chosen to travel to space on a flight with international space agency, Space Expedition Corporation, following competitive space-simulation challenges in Orlando in the USA.
Omar Samra’s Achievements Track Record:
- 17 May 2007: Everest (29,035 feet); first Egyptian and youngest Arab to climb Mount Everest.
- April 2008: Kilimanjaro (19,340 feet); the highest mountain in Africa
- August 2008: Elbrus (18,510 feet); the highest mountain in Europe (Russia)
- April 2009: Carstenz Pyramid (16,023); the highest mountain in Australasia (Indonesia)
- 1 February 2011: Aconcagua (South America) (22,841 feet); first Arab to climb the highest mountain in Argentina alone and unsupported.
- 5 January 2012: Vinson Massif (16,050 feet), the highest point on the Antarctic continent.
- 31 May 2013: Omar became the first Egyptian to complete the 7 Summits Challenge, by climbing the remaining Mount Denali (20,320); the highest in Alaska and North America.
- 6 December 2013: Omar participated in Axe Apollo Space Competition; and was the only Arab chosen to travel to space on a flight with international space agency, Space Expedition Corporation, following competitive space-simulation challenges in Orlando in the USA.

- 21 April 2015: Omar Samra became the first Egyptian to complete the Explorers Grand Slam after successfully reaching the North Pole.عمر سمره يرفع علم مصر في القطب الشمالي ويحقق انجازاً تاريخياً باتمام "مغامرة الجراند سلام " بدعم من البنك التجاري الدوليالقاهرة ، 23 ابريل 2015 – حقق عمر سمره انجازاً تاريخياً لنجاحه في الوصول الى القطب الشمالي ورفع علم مصر الساعة الخامسة صباح يوم الثلاثاء 21 ابريل 2015، ليصبح أول مصري وواحد من 40 شخص حول العالم استطاعوا انجاز "مغامرة الجراند سلام ".ومن الجدير بالذكر ان "مغامرة الجراند سلام " تعني تسلق القمم السبع ، بالاضافة الى التزلج الى القطبين الجنوبي والشمالي . وكان سمره قد أكمل تحدي القمم السبع في يونيو 2013 ، ثم نجح بعدها في تزلج "الدرجة الاخيرة " الى القطب الجنوبي في نهاية ديسمبر 2014.ويعتبر هذا الانجاز تتويجاً لرحلة عمرها 20 عاماً ، منذ ان كان سمره في السادسة عشر من عمره ويحلم بتسلق جبل افرست ، الذي استطاع ان يتسلقه ويصبح أول مصري وأصغر عربي في ذلك الوقت يصل الى قمته .وتعليقاً على هذا الانجاز الغير مسبوق، قال عمر سمره : " انا سعيد جداً بهذا الانجاز الذي اهديه لبلدي الحبيب مصر . وأشكر البنك التجاري الدولي الذي جعل هذا الحلم ممكناً من خلال دعمه وايمانه بي، كذلك اشكر عائلتي واصدقائي وكل من ساندني وشجعني خلال هذه الرحلة ".عمر سمره هو أول مصري أيضاُ ينجح في تحقيق انجاز القمم السبع ، وهو تسلق قمم أعلى جبال السبع القارات . وفي ديسمبر 2013 ، استطاع سمره ان يحقق انجازاً دولياً جديداً ويفوز في آخر مرحلة من تصفيات مسابقة الفضاء "آكس ابوللو" بعد سلسلة من اختبارات الفضاء في اورلاندو ليصبح المصري والعربي الوحيد الذي تختاره هيئة الفضاء الدولية "سبيس اكسبيديشن كوربوريشن" لرحلتها القادمة .سجل انجازات عمر سمره

- 31 مايو 2013: انجاز القمم السبع: أول مصري ينجح في تسلق قمم أعلى جبال القارات السبع بعد تسلق جبل دينالي (20,320 قدم) أعلى جبل فى الاسكا و امريكا الشمالية .
