Dubai, 8 February, 2015 –
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is lending its support to
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Pattaya to stage a special Dance
Marathon in celebration of Valentine’s Day. This is the first ever dance
marathon to be held in the kingdom, and will take place from 13-14 February, 2015.

Pattaya’s Believe it
or Not! Museum has already hosted headline-grabbing Valentine’s
extravaganzas. Previous events hosted by the museum include the Hug
Marathon in 2003 and 2014, the Kissing Marathon in 2011 and 2013, and
the world’s largest match-making event in 2010. Also popular was the
Wife Carrying Race in 2009. These events were hugely popular with
couples who were eager to take part and audiences of tourists and locals
who came to watch the fun.
‘The Joy of Love
Dance’ is open to couples. Winning couples will receive a cash prize of
200,000 Baht and have their names listed in the famous Guinness Book of
World Records. The organisers are hoping that the event will see a new
record set as for the world’s longest dance marathon.
The event will be a
real physical challenge because to beat the record, couples will have to
dance together continuously for more than 35 hours without changing
partners. The current world record was set on 16 November, 2008, at
Acapulco, Guerrero in Mexico where the winning couple, Francisco
Petatán-Garcia and Joana Salinas-Aviles danced for 35 hours.
TAT Governor, Mr.
Thawatchai Arunyik said, “This romantic event is in line with the drive
to promote the kingdom as a world leading honeymoon and wedding venue.
Each year, the kingdom’s leading tourism organisations and related
businesses strive to attract couples by hosting fun and romantic events
around Valentine’s Day. The underwater weddings in Trang, wedding
ceremony at the Red Lotus Sea in Udon Thani, and the weddings on
elephant back in Surin, have become well known around the world.”
