Savola wins the Golden Peacock Global Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance

Jeddah on 24/11/2014: The Savola Group, a Saudi listed company in the stock exchange, operating in the food and retail sectors, has been awarded the Golden Peacock Global Award for excellence in corporate governance, from the International Awards Management of the Golden Peacock Awards in London (UK). The Award was presented to worldwide government institutions and private sector organizations who excelled in corporate governance and sustainability throughout the year, in a special ceremony which took place during the 14th London Global Convention 2014. The awards were presented to the winners by the British Secretary of Home, Her Excellency, Mrs. Theresa May during the conference.   283 companies from around the world including private & public organizations applied for the Corporate Governance and Sustainability Award for the year 2014. After careful scrutiny and assessment, the final applications were presented to a jury, and chose the best 11 companies that met the award criteria in the field of good practices in CG. Savola was the only company from the Middle East and the Arab countries to be selected for the Award of Excellence in Corporate Governance. The list of winners also included three companies from the United States, one from the UK, Japan, Switzerland, Portugal, Thailand and two companies from India.   Dr. Abdulraouf Mannaa – Group CEO and Managing Director of The Savola Group, Stated “We are pleased The Savola Group has received this recognition, which is as big accomplishment for the group, it’s Board, and Executive Management.   The Award gives Savola an opportunity to benchmark its corporate governance practices against global practices and high quality standards such as disclosure and transparency, shareholder & stakeholder rights, sustainability, and Board of Directors structure. It also challenges Savola to maintain and enhance its good practices in the field of governance and transparency in the future.”   The Savola Group ranked first in the KSA and second in the Arab world in the fields of corporate governance and transparency, according to an independent study conducted by Standard & Poor's (S & P) and the Institute of Regional Governance in Dubai in 2011.

جدة في 24/11/2014م: حصلت مجموعة صافولا (شركة مساهمة سعودية) على الجائزة الذهبية العالمية للتميز في ممارسات حوكمة الشركات (Golden Peacock Global Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance) والتي تقدمت بها إدارة الجوائز العالمية في مجال حوكمة الشركات خلال حفل توزيع الجوائز للمؤسسات الحكومية والقطاع الخاص على مستوى العالم الفائزة بجوائز حوكمة الشركات والاستدامة، والذي أقيم ضمن فعاليات مؤتمر لندن الدولي الرابع عشر الذي انعقد نهاية شهر أكتوبر 2014م حول الحوكمة المؤسسية والاستدامة بلندن، حيث قامت وزيرة الداخلية البريطانية، تريزا ماي، بتتويج الفائزين ضمن فعاليات هذا المؤتمر.   حيث تقدمت (283 شركة) حول العالم للحصول على هذه الجائزة والتي تضمت شركات مدرجة في الأسواق المالية ومؤسسات خاصة وعامة حول العالم وذلك للحصول على جائزة الحوكمة والاستدامة للعام 2014م، وقد تم تصفية طلبات المترشحين حسب معايير الجائزة، والتي قُدمت لهيئة المحلفين والتي اختارت من بين المتقدمين أفضل (11) شركة استوفت معايير الجائزة في مجال الممارسات الجيدة في الحوكمة، حيث كانت صافولا الشركة الوحيدة من منطقة الشرق الأوسط والدول العربية التي تم اختيارها لجائزة التميز في مجال الحوكمة والمؤسسية، وقد شملت القائمة الفائزة بجانب صافولا عدد ثلاث شركات من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وواحدة من كلٍ من المملكة المتحدة واليابان وسويسرا والبرتغال وتايلند وشركتان من الهند.     وفي هذا الإطار، صرح الدكتور عبد الرؤوف محمد مناع الرئيس التنفيذي والعضو المنتدب للمجموعة "نحن سعداء بحصول مجموعة صافولا على هذه الجائزة والتقدير والذي يُعد إنجازاً كبيراً للمجموعة ومجلس إدارتها وإدارتها التنفيذية في مجال الشفافية والحوكمة المؤسساتية، حيث أتاح هذا التقييم وهذه النتيجة فرصة لمقارنة ممارساتها في مجال الحوكمة بممارسات ومعايير عالمية ذات جودة عالية في مجال الإفصاح والشفافية وحقوق المساهمين وأصحاب المصالح والاستدامة وهيكل مجلس الإدارة، كما يلقي هذا التقدير مزيد من التحدي على صافولا للاستمرار في المحافظة والارتقاء بممارساتها الجيدة في مجال الحوكمة والشفافية مستقبلاً".   تجدر الأشرة إلى أن مجموعة صافولا سبق أن حققت المرتبة الأولى على مستوى المملكة العربية والثانية عربياً في مجال الحوكمة والشفافية وفقاً لدراسة مستقلة قامت بها مؤسسة ستاندرد أند بور الأمريكية (S&P) ومعهد حوكمة الإقليمي بدبي عام 2011م.
