Oracle
to showcase cloud, mobile and engineered systems, including 243
software products available on the cloud.
DUBAI,
UAE - 11 October 2014 – The Middle East is moving to the “next
phase” of cloud adoption, which will see more companies extending
their cloud usage from applications to technology platforms and
infrastructure. Oracle will demonstrate its latest cloud offerings at
GITEX, including 243 new products added to its suite of
software-as-a-service (SaaS). In 2013 more than 100,000 Middle East
users were added to the Oracle cloud.
Globally
Oracle has added more than 2,000 new customers who use the company's
cloud, bringing the total to more than 10,000.
“Companies
made a cautious entry into the cloud market, testing the new way of
using software,” said Oracle senior marketing director Dana
Murugan.
“This
year we are hearing from our customers that they are ready to use the
cloud for more of their business operations, and are looking to take
advantage of our Platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and
Infrastructure-as-a-service (Iaas) offerings. There is no doubt that
cloud-based services will form an ever-increasing proportion of our
customers' IT infrastructure.”
Murugan
believes that visitors to GITEX should look for solutions that help
them save money, reduce the complexity of their IT installations and
are agile enough to support business transformation.
One
of the consequences of the economic growth in the Gulf region is the
increasing pressure on businesses to deliver products to market
quickly, respond to market demands in an agile manner, and to
innovate to be more competitive.
“The
classic on-premise only model consumes more than 60% of an IT budget
in maintenance alone,” said Murugan. “That budget is spent
keeping older systems running that are lagging in their ability to
keep up with changing business needs. GITEX will showcase systems
that can drive business innovation – cloud, closely-engineered
hardware and software and mobile solutions.
