First ever ladies event a huge success
29 October 2014

Friends Provident International (FPI) last week hosted its first ever event exclusively for female financial advisers.
More than 40 of FPI’s most supportive female business partners were invited for dinner and drinks in the Sunset Garden, at Dubai’s prestigious Burj al Arab Hotel, along with some key members of the FPI team based in Dubai and from further afield.
The event also recognised breast cancer awareness month and, after an uplifting welcome speech from FPI’s Brand, Marketing and Communications Consultant Shamsa Al Jaradi, there was a talk from a breast cancer specialist on how to check for early signs of abnormalities, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Cate Smith, FPI’s Head of Brand and Marketing closed the formalities with a brief talk on the important role that women play in business, and FPI’s strong commitment to their diversity program, which includes encouraging more women into senior roles and an enhanced maternity leave provision to help employees balance their work life with their family commitments.
Cate Smith said:
“This is the first of what we hope will become regular ’ladies only’ events in the region. The financial services
industry has traditionally been dominated by men and the huge contribution that women make in business is often overlooked.
The event was a great opportunity to meet with fellow women in finance and talk about our experiences – as well as recognise October as breast cancer awareness month.
It was a pleasure to meet such a great group of people and the feedback we have received so far has been very positive. I look forward to FPI hosting a similar ladies event in early 2015.”
