Employees
and officials of the Dubai Maritime City Authority, the government authority
charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s
maritime sector, headed by Amer Ali, the Executive Director of DMCA, went on a
sea tour onboard water taxis in coordination with Dubai’s Roads and Transport
Authority (RTA). This initiative falls within the Authority’s framework of
supporting public and private marine transportation as one of the most
important components of the local maritime sector, where water taxi is
considered as one of the most distinctive features of Dubai’s maritime mass
transport sector.
Amer
Ali explained that the tour comes as a call to encourage the use of Dubai’s
public marine transportation, developed successfully by the RTA according to
the highest standards of safety and security to ensure safe and easy movement
of marine transport for everyone. He pointed out that DMCA is committed to
supporting efforts to develop marine transport in the emirate in line with the
ongoing preparations to host the World Expo 2020. He also emphasized the need
for renovation and improvement of transport networks as well as the means of
transport, including transportation methods, in order to accommodate the huge
number of visitors and exhibitors participating in the global events. The international
exhibition will be a platform to strengthen cultural interaction and economic
cooperation between the people of the world.
