Second edition of show receives overwhelming response on opening day

Under the Patronage of Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait, The Big 5 Kuwait 2014 opened today (Monday, September 22, 2014) and will run until the 24th of September at the Kuwait International Fair. Architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, project managers, procurement managers, property developers, contractors, facility and contracts managers and interior designers attended the event to source products, learn and network.

The visitors were delighted with the new and innovative products from exhibitors coming over from 15 countries. The overwhelming response received by The Big 5 Kuwait 2014 on the first day further consolidates its position as Kuwait’s largest building and construction show.

Commenting on the first day of the show, Mohammed Ahmed Bin Fahad, a visitor from the UAE said: “I am so pleased to visit again this year’s edition of The Big 5 Kuwait where I found a lot of interesting and big exhibitors.”

The Big 5 Kuwait FM Congress, an informative insight into the Facilities Management (FM) sector in Kuwait, was held on the first day. Numerous case studies, which included topics such as ‘Does Kuwait need three new billion dollar hospitals and 5,000 new beds?’ and ‘Initiatives for Improvements in FM Project’, were presented at the first day of the show.

United Facilities Management, one of the leading Kuwaiti FM companies, participated at the FM Congress to give a valuable insight on Kuwait’s expanding FM sector with the presentation by the Director of Operations Paul Zalloua.

Ahmad Yousef Al Kandari, Vice Chairman and CEO of United Facilities Management, said: “This year’s Big 5 Kuwait provided an in-depth look at the local, regional and international FM and construction sectors. The Big 5 Kuwait has highlighted the significance of these services and showed why they should be considered in the design, development and construction phases.”

The first day of The Big 5 Kuwait also featured the Round Table Zone, an open forum that enables construction professionals to discuss issues that are critical to the local construction industry. The Round Table discussions will continue tomorrow with industry-specific topics such as ‘How can you effectively outsource FM contracts?’ and ‘How can you avoid disputes in the construction industry?’.

Free certified workshops led by industry experts will begin on Tuesday 23^rd of September, including the hugely popular Project Management workshop, which will tackle the creation of a robust project planning documents and project control systems, among others. Two more workshops will be ‘Managing FM Contracts & SLA’s’ and ‘Introduction to LEED version 4’.

Also taking place tomorrow (Tuesday 23^rd September) will be the popular How to Trade in Kuwait Seminar. The seminar will provide guidelines for business opportunities and investments in Kuwait to help international investors who are keen on tapping into the country’s lucrative market. The half-day session will cover diverse topics including local partners, taxation requirement, and licensing, permits and visas.

إنطلاق معرض "الخمسة الكبار الكويتي 2014"

النسخة الثانية من المعرض تحظى بإقبال كبير في يوم الافتتاح

تحت رعاية سمو الشيخ جابر مبارك الحمد الصباح، رئيس مجلس الوزراء في دولة الكويت، إنطلق اليوم (الإثنين 22 سبتمبر/أيلول 2014)، معرض "الخمسة الكبار الكويتي 2014" (The Big 5 Kuwait 2014)، الذي يقام خلال الفترة من 22 ولغاية 24 سبتمبر/أيلول الجاري في معرض الكويت الدولي. وحضر المعرض مهندسون معماريون ومدنيون ومقاولون واستشاريون ومدراء مشاريع ومدراء مشتريات ومطورون عقاريون ومدراء مرافق وعقود ومصممي ديكور داخلي بهدف شراء المنتجات والاستفادة من فرص التعلم والتواصل مع المعنيين في هذا القطاع.

وقد أبدى الزوار إعجابهم بالمنتجات الجديدة والمبتكرة من العارضين القادمين من 15 دولة. وعزز الإقبال الكبير الذي شهده معرض "الخمسة الكبار الكويتي 2014" خلال اليوم الأول من مكانته كأكبر معرض للبناء والتشييد في دولة الكويت.

وتعليقاً على فعاليات اليوم الأول من المعرض، قال محمد أحمد بن فهد، زائر من الإمارات: "نحن سعداء بزيارة المعرض مرة جديدة هذا العام، مما أتاح لنا فرصة الإلتقاء بعدد من العارضين المهمين."

وتم تنظيم في اليوم الأول من المعرض مؤتمر إدارة المرافق، وهو عبارة عن فعالية تعريفيّة عن قطاع إدارة المرافق في الكويت. كما تم أيضاً تقديم العديد من دراسات الحالة، التي تضمنت مواضيع مثل "هل تحتاج الكويت إلى ثلاثة مستشفيات جديدة بقيمة مليار دولار و5.000 سرير جديد؟" و"مبادرات من أجل إدخال تحسينات على مشاريع إدارة المرافق".

كما شهد مؤتمر إدارة المرافق مشاركة "الشركة المتحدة لإدارة المرافق"، إحدى الشركات الكويتية الرائدة في مجال إدارة المرافق، من أجل تقديم معلومات قيمة حول توسيع هذا القطاع في دولة الكويت بالإضافة إلى عرض تقديمي من بول زالوعا، مدير العمليات لدى شركة المتحدة لإدارة المرافق.

وقال أحمد يوسف الكندري، نائب رئيس مجلس الإدارة والرئيس التنفيذي للشركة المتحدة لإدارة المرافق: "قدم معرض "الخمسة الكبار الكويتي" هذا العام نظرة معمقة حول قطاعات الإنشاءات وإدارة المرافق المحلية والإقليمية والدولية. كما سلط المعرض الضوء على أهمية هذه الخدمات وبيّن لماذا ينبغي أخذها بالحسبان خلال مراحل التصميم والتطوير والبناء".

وتضمّن اليوم الأول من المعرض أيضاً "منطقة الطاولة المستديرة"، وهي عبارة عن ملتقى يتيح للمتخصصين في قطاع الإنشاءات مناقشة القضايا التي تهم قطاع الإنشاءات المحلي. وستتواصل جلسات نقاش الطاولة المستديرة يوم غد، حيث سيتم التطرق إلى مواضيع خاصة بقطاع الإنشاءات مثل، "كيف يمكن تعهيد عقود إدارة المرافق بفعالية؟" و"كيف يمكن تجنب النزاعات في قطاع الإنشاءات".

كما ستعقد خلال اليوم الثاني (الثلاثاء 23 سبتمبر) من الحدث ورش عمل معتمدة ومجانية يشرف عليها خبراء، ومن بينها "إدارة المشاريع"، التي ستتطرق إلى إنشاء مستندات لمشروع قوي وأنظمة التحكم بالمشروع وغيرها من المسائل. وسيكون هناك أيضاً ورشتي عمل هما؛ "إدارة عقود إدارة المرافق واتفاقيات مستوى الخدمة و"مدخل إلى النسخة الرابعة من نظام الريادة في تصميمات الطاقة والبيئة" (LEED).

وسيتم عقد أيضاً في اليوم الثاني (الثلاثاء 23 سبتمبر) ندوة عن "كيفية تنفيذ الأعمال التجارية في الكويت"، التي ستوفر إرشادات وتوجيهات حول الفرص التجارية والاستثمار في دولة الكويت بهدف مساعدة المستثمرين العالميين على الاستفادة من السوق المربحة في البلاد. كما ستغطي هذه الندوة، التي تستمر لنصف يوم، مواضيع متنوعة بما في ذلك "الشركاء المحليين" و"متطلبات الضرائب" و"الترخيص والتصاريح والتأشيرات".

لا تفوّتوا فرصة المشاركة في أنشطة اليوم الثاني (الثلاثاء 23 سبتمبر) حيث سيستمر المعرض يومي 23 و24 سبتمبر/أيلول من الساعة 11 صباحاً وحتى 8 مساء، وسيكون التسجيل مجاني للزوار ممن يحملون بطاقات العمل، فضلاً عن كافة النشاطات التي ستكون مجانية الحضور.
