Beirut, 29 May 2014 – Initiated
by Mrs. Lama Tammam Salam, the Grand Serail kept its doors opened for the
public during April and May through its
weekly program ‘Rendezvous at the Serail’. The platform focused on ‘the
integration of children with special needs into the Lebanese society’, ‘woman empowerment’ and ‘civic responsibility
towards the environment’ part of its educational umbrella followed by a
celebratory gathering to honor senior nurses and tackled elder’s rights part of
its social theme.
"We
wanted, my husband and I, to unite all the Lebanese from all the regions at the
Grand Serail to discuss different topics, issues and problems," said Mrs.
Salam. “Every Wednesday we met interesting people trusting to have shed the
light on sensitive subjects", she added.
Children with special needs
The
Conference reaffirmed the right to education of every individual and renewed
the pledge to ensure that children with special needs will be integrated and
accommodated in schools regardless of their physical, intellectual, social,
emotional, linguistic or other conditions while addressing the problem they
face in the society.
Woman
empowerment
The
gathering stressed on women’s marginal role in the Lebanese economy and how
they face limited employment opportunities and low paid jobs with little social
protection. Key speakers agreed on
significant reforms needed to be enacted and implemented to address
discrimination against woman and reduce the gender gap for there to have a long
term positive effect on women and economy.
Senior
nurses honoring
To commemorate
the international nurse day, 11 senior nurses representing 11 Lebanese university
hospitals were granted the Healthcare Leadership and Excellence Award to honor
their exceptional mission and journey. The awards were presented by Health
Minister Wael Abou Faour, along with Mrs. Lama Salam.
Tackling
elder’s rights
The
session promoted the medical and welfare rights of the elders in Lebanon
advocating an ‘active aging’ to maximize their independence, well-being and
health. All attendees supported the adoption of a retirement law that will
guaranty a social protection for senior citizens for them to start a dignified
and energetic life. Following the session, a tea party was set to entertain 60
elderly who came from different Lebanese nursing homes.
My
Environment, my country!
An
interactive session with elementary students was organized to shed the light on
environmental issues in Lebanon and increase the civic responsibility towards
the environment. The gathering drew participants from around 10 Lebanese
schools to discuss with the Environment Minister Mohammad Machnouk how to
contribute to a cleaner, healthier, eco-friendly Lebanon! The Environmental
Education session was followed by an exhibition of several environmental NGOs.

في 20 نيسان 2014 – شرّع
السراي الكبير أبوابه لاستقبال اللبنانيين من
مختلف الأطياف
طوال
شهر نيسان برعاية السيدة لمى تمام سلام من خلال البرنامج الأسبوعي "موعد في
السراي" الهادف إلى المساهمة
في إنماء المجتمع المدني. وركزت اللقاءات على قضايا وملفات
اجتماعية وتربوية وصحية وبيئية وثقافية، منها كيفية "دمج الأطفال ذوي الحاجات الخاصة في
المدارس" و"المرأة اللبنانية
والتمكين الإقتصادي" و"المسؤولية المدنية تجاه البيئة"
ضمن المحور التعليمي تلاها احتفال لتكريم قدامى الممرضات كما تناولت قضية المسنّين
ضمن محور الحقوق الاجتماعية.
وحول الموضوع، قالت السيدة سلام:
"أحببت أنا وزوجي تمّام توحيد اللبنانيين من مختلف المناطق
في السراي الكبير ليكون منصة يعبّروا من خلالها عن مشاكلهم الاجتماعية وقضاياهم الإنسانية.
وفي هذا الإطار، التقينا كل يوم أربعاء مجموعة مختارة من مختلف شرائح المجتمع
اللبناني وتناولنا إحدى قضاياه".
الأطفال
ذوي الحاجات الخاصة
سلّط
اللقاء الضوء مرة أخرى على حق كل فرد من أفراد المجتمع في التعليم مجدِداً
العهد تجاه الأطفال ذوي الحاجات الخاصة بدمجهم في المدارس بغض النظر عن وضعهم
الاجتماعي والجسدي وظروفهم العاطفية واللغوية والفكرية، بينما تجري معالجة المشكلة
التي يواجهونها في المجتمع.
تمكين
المرأة
وشددت
الطاولة المستديرة على
الدور الهامشي الذي تلعبه المرأة اليوم في الاقتصاد اللبناني، وكيف تواجه التحديات
لا سيما في ما يتعلق بفرص العمل المحدودة والوظائف المنخفضة الأجر في حين تبقى الحماية
الاجتماعية خجولة. واتفق المتحدثون الرئيسيون على الحاجة الماسة لإجراء إصلاحات جذرية
منها تشريع القوانين ووضع آلية لمعالجة التمييز ضد المرأة وردم الهوة بين الجنسين لتفعيل دورها في المجتمع ليكون لها تأثير إيجابي على المدى
الطويل على الاقتصاد الوطني.
حفل
تكريمي لقدامى الممرضات
ولمناسبة
يوم الممرضة العالمي، أقيم حفل تكريمي لقدامى الممرضات بعنوان "ملائكة الرحمة"
تم خلاله تكريم أحد عشر ممرضة ممرضات المستشفيات الجامعية في
لبنان حيث تسلمن جائزة الريادة والتميّز في الرعاية الصحية تقديراً لمسيرتهن
المهنية الاستثنائية. وقدّم الجوائز معالي
وزير الصحة العامة وائل أبو فاعور والسيدة لمى سلام.

كبار السن في المجتمع اللبناني
تمحور
اللقاء حول حقوق
المسنين في
لبنان من حيث العناية
التمريضية والحماية الإجتماعية داعية إلى "الشيخوخة
الناشطة" من
خلال تأمين أقصى قدر من الاستقلالية، والرفاه والرعاية الصحية. كما أيّد الحاضرون
اعتماد قانون التقاعد وضمان الشيخوخة الذي من شأنه
أن يضمن الحماية الاجتماعية للمسنين ليعيشوا حياة كريمة بنمط إجتماعي نشيط.
عقب الجلسة جلسة شاي ترفيهية استضافت ستين مسنّاً أتوا من مختلف دور العجزة اللبنانية.
بيئتي
وطني
كما
نظمت جلسة تفاعلية مع طلاب المرحلة المتوسطة لتسليط الضوء على القضايا البيئية في لبنان
وتناولت دور المواطن في حماية بيئته في إطار المسؤولية المدنية. وجمع اللقاء مشاركين
من عشرة مدارس لبنانية ناقشوا مختلف القضايا مع معالي وزير البيئة محمد المشنوق
ومنها كيفية المساهمة في تحويل لبنان إلى بقعة صحية أنظف وصديقة للبيئة. وتلى هذه الدورة
التربوية البيئية معرضاً شاركت فيه عدة منظمات بيئية غير حكومية.
