Public lecture explores
challenges & opportunities in teaching students with special needs

University, an academic institution delivering
high-quality, value-based education, recently teamed up with the Khalifa Award
for Education in
holding a public lecture titled ‘Special Needs Teaching Difficulties’ at the university campus. The event marked
the first-ever collaborative activity undertaken by the University’s Faculty of
Arts and Social Sciences and the Abu Dhabi –based International Education Award
–giving body. It aimed to align the social service initiatives of ALHOSN
University with Abu Dhabi’s broader social development efforts.
The
special lecture was held under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Munther Talal
Momany, Vice Chancellor and CEO, ALHOSN University and conducted by Ms. Sameera
Salem, Manager of the Abilities Development Centre Abu Dhabi. It defined key
aspects of special needs education, the various contributions of developed
countries to the field, and the challenges faced by special needs educators. A large
audience comprising professors, teachers and students, attended the lecture.
“As our motto of ‘Global knowledge with local
vision’ reflects, our impact on society is an integral part of our identity as
an institution of higher learning. Through our recent collaboration with the Khalifa Award for Education we hope to raise more awareness
on, and gain stronger support for, our efforts to provide exceptional learning
and personal growth opportunities to people with special needs. The lecture
reflects our full support for Abu Dhabi’s vision of social development
especially for disadvantaged members of the community,” said Dr.
Mohammed Saeed Hasab El Nabi, Associate Professor and
Dean of the Education Department, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, ALHOSN University.
The Khalifa Award for Education aims to enhance the educational sector of the
UAE and the entire Arab world by honouring the distinguished efforts of
educators in the various fields of teaching and specialised education. Headquartered
in the Capital City of Abu Dhabi, the body enjoys full-fledged financial and
administrative status.
ALHOSN University currently offers 18 undergraduate and 11
graduate programs under the Faculties of Engineering and Applied Sciences,
Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. The university’s Faculty
of Arts and Social Sciences organizes various seminars focusing on autism, special
needs and other key areas to help enhance educational delivery, services and
support to less privileged segments of society.

التحديات والفرص في مجال تعليم الطلبة من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة

تعاونت جامعة الحصن، المؤسسة التعليمية الرائدة في مجال
توفير التعليم النوعي والمتميز والتي تتخذ من أبوظبي مقراً لها، مؤخراً مع جائزة
خليفة التعليمية في تنظيم ندوة عامة بعنوان "صعوبات تعليم ذوي الاحتياجات
الخاصة" وذلك في حرم الجامعة. وتعد هذه الندوة النشاط التعاوني الأول من نوعه
الذي تقوم به كلية الآداب والعلوم الاجتماعية في الجامعة والجهة المانحة للجائزة
التربوية الدولية ومقرها أبوظبي. وتهدف الندوة إلى تحقيق المواءمة بين مبادرات
الخدمة الاجتماعية لجامعة الحصن مع جهود التنمية الاجتماعية بنطاقها الأوسع لإمارة
أبوظبي.
وأقيمت الندوة تحت رعاية سعادة الاستاذ الدكتور منذر
مومني، مدير جامعة الحصن، حيث أشرفت على إدارتها السيدة سميرة سالم، مدير مركز
تنمية القدرات لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة في أبوظبي. وحددت الندوة الجوانب الرئيسية
لتعليم ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة والمساهمات المختلفة للدول المتقدمة في هذا المجال،
بالإضافة إلى التحديات التي تواجه معلمي ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة. وحضر الندوة عدد
كبير من الأساتذة والمدرسين والطلبة.
وقال الدكتور محمد سعيد حسب النبي، الاستاذ المساعد
وعميد قسم التربية في كلية الآداب والعلوم الاجتماعية في جامعة الحصن: "كما
يدل شعارنا "معرفة شاملة برؤية محلية"، فإن إسهاماتنا تجاه المجتمع تعد
جزءاً لا يتجزأ من هويتنا كمؤسسة رائدة للتعليم العالي. ونأمل من خلال تعاوننا
الأخير مع جائزة خليفة التربوية، أن نسهم في تعزيز مزيد من الوعي والحصول على دعم
أكبر لجهودنا الرامية إلى توفير فرص متميزة للتعليم والتطوير الشخصي لذوي
الاحتياجات الخاصة. وتعكس هذه الندوة دعمنا الكامل لرؤية أبوظبي للتنمية
الاجتماعية وخاصة بالنسبة للأفراد من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة".
وتهدف جائزة خليفة التربوية إلى تعزيز القطاع التعليمي
في دولة الإمارات والعالم العربي من خلال تكريمها للجهود المتميزة للمعلمين في
مختلف مجالات التدريس والتعليم المتخصص. وتتخذ هيئة الجائزة من العاصمة أبوظبي
مقراً لها، حيث تتمتع باستقلال مالي وإداري تام.
وتوفر
جامعة الحصن حالياً 18 برنامجاً خاصاً بدرجة البكالوريوس و11 برامج خاصة بالدراسات
العليا ضمن كلية الهندسة والعلوم التطبيقية وكلية الأعمال وكلية الآداب والعلوم
الاجتماعية. وتقوم كلية الآداب والعلوم الاجتماعية بتنظيم مختلف الندوات التي تركز
على المصابين بمرض التوحد والأفراد من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة وغيرها من المجالات
بهدف المساعدة على تحسين خدمات التعليم المقدمة لهؤلاء ودعم الشرائح الأقل حظاً في
المجتمع.
