showcase student works under theme ‘Projects for Sustainable Cities
of Tomorrow’

ALHOSN University
has announced it’s collaboration with Italy-based University of
Florence for the hosting of an architectural exhibition titled
‘Projects for Sustainable Cities of Tomorrow,’ which will open
today (March 15, 2014) and will run until March 16, 2014 at the
ALHOSN University Campus in Abu Dhabi. The event, which was opened
by His E. Giorgio Starace - Ambassador of Italy to the UAE -
accompanied by his wife, will feature the works of the
universities’ students along with key lectures from Prof. Marko
Sala, the Director of Interdisciplinary Research Center at the
University of Florence and Dr. Mohamad Kashef,
Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, ALHOSN
University.
The exhibition will
showcase ultra-modern student design ideas integrating sustainable
building technologies and urban development practices. It will also
broaden the collaboration between the two universities via a
comprehensive academic agreement covering student exchange programs,
faculty interaction, and joint research. Moreover, the event will
serve as an ideal platform for ALHOSN University’s Architectural
Engineering students to showcase their skills and exchange design
ideas with fellow students from the University of Florence.
Prof. Sala will
discuss innovative design and energy controls for sustainable
environments, while Dr. Kashef will address the applications of
nanotechnology in building and sustainable design.
“Today’s
exhibition is expected to provide an excellent opportunity for our
students and faculty to exchange ideas with one of Italy’s leading
architectural institutions. It will also strengthen our mutual desire
to actively participate within a global network of universities that
embed sustainable design principles in their curricula and practices.
These kinds of events emphasize the present and future potentials of
our students and are essential to keeping strong ties with our
international educational partners,” said Prof. Munther Momany,
Vice Chancellor and CEO, ALHOSN University.
Named after Abu
Dhabi's historic ALHOSN Palace, ALHOSN University was founded in 2005
by the Abu Dhabi Holding Company in response to growing local demand
for high-quality, value-based educational institutions. The
university offers 18 undergraduate and 11 postgraduate degrees under
the Faculties of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Business, and Arts
and Social Sciences. ALHOSN accepts students of all nationalities and
also accommodates youths with special needs. All its programs are
accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific
Research. ALHOSN University maintains productive partnerships and
exchange programs with some of the world’s leading educational
institutions.

وبالتعاون مع "جامعة
فلورنسا"
الإيطالية،
معرضاً متخصّصاً بالهندسة المعمارية تحت
عنوان "مشاريع
لمدن الغد المستدامة"،
على أن يستمر لغاية 16
مارس/آذار
الجاري في حرم "جامعة
الحصن"
بأبوظبي.
ويتخلّل
الحدث، الذي افتححه سعادة
جورجيو ستاراس -
سفير
جمهورية إيطاليا لدى
دولة الإمارات – برفقة
عقيلته، استعراض لأعمال الطلبة
في مجال الهندسة المعمارية، بالإضافة
إلى محاضرتين لكل من الأستاذ ماركو
سالا، مدير مركز البحوث متعدّدة
التخصّصات في "جامعة
فلورنسا"،
والدكتور محمد كاشف، عميد البحوث
والدراسات العليا في "جامعة
الحصن".
ويهدف
المعرض إلى تسليط الضوء على أفكار الطلبة
وتصاميمهم العصرية التي تجمع بين أحدث
تقنيات البناء المستدام وأفضل الممارسات
المتّبعة في مجال التنمية الحضرية.
وسيتخلّل
المعرض توقيع إتفاقية أكاديمية شاملة
بين الجامعتين سيتم بموجبها إطلاق برامج
التبادل الطلابي وتعزيز التواصل بين
أعضاء الهيئات الدراسية، بالإضافة إلى
تفعيل برامج البحوث المشتركة، ما من شأنه
تعزيز أواصر التعاون بين الطرفين.
وسيوفّر
الحدث منصةً مثاليةً لطلبة الهندسة
المعمارية في "جامعة
الحصن"
لإستعراض
مهاراتهم وتبادل الأفكار والمعرفة مع
نظرائهم في "جامعة
فلورنسا".
وستتمحور
محاضرة الأستاذ سالا حول الإبتكارات في
مجال التصميم والضوابط اللازمة للحد من
إستهلاك الطاقة في البيئات المستدامة.
وبدوره،
سيسلّط الدكتور كاشف الضوء على تطبيقات
تكنولوجيا النانو في مجال البناء والتصميم
المستدام.
وفي
معرض تعليقه على الحدث، قال سعادة الأستاذ
الدكتور منذر مومني، مدير "جامعة
الحصن":

المتوقّع أن يوفّر المعرض فرصةً ممتازةً
للطلبة وأعضاء الهيئة التدريسية لتبادل
الأفكار مع إحدى أبرز الجامعات الرائدة
في مجال الهندسة المعمارية في إيطاليا،
ما من شأنه تعزيز مساهماتنا الفاعلة في
التعاون مع شبكة من الجامعات الدولية
التي تستند في مناهجها وممارساتها على
مبادئ التصميم المستدام.
ومما
لا شك فيه أن تنظيم مثل هذا النوع من
الفعاليات يؤكّد على المقومات الحالية
والمستقبلية لطلبتنا ويسهم في توطيد
العلاقات المتينة مع شركائنا التعليميين
من مختلف أنحاء العالم."
وتأسّست
جامعة الحصن، التي اتخذت اسمها الحالي
تيمناً بقصر الحصن في إمارة أبوظبي، خلال
العام 2005 من
قبل شركة أبوظبي القابضة وذلك استجابة
لتزايد الطلب المحلي على مؤسسات التعليم
عالية الجودة.
وتوفر
الجامعة حالياً 18
برنامجاً
خاصاً بدرجة البكالوريوس و11
برنامجاً
خاصاً بالدراسات العليا ضمن كلية الهندسة
والعلوم التطبيقية وكلية الأعمال وكلية
الآداب والعلوم الاجتماعية.
وتستقبل
الجامعة الطلبة من مختلف الجنسيات،
بالإضافة إلى الطلبة من ذوي الاحتياجات
الخاصة. وتم
اعتماد كافة البرامج الدراسية في الجامعة
من قبل وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث
العلمي في دولة الإمارات.
