‘Jotashield Extreme’ developed to
address environmental issues like rising energy costs, global warming and
effective heat management

Jotun Paints, one of the world’s
leading producers and distributors of paints and coatings, is showcasing today
(January 20, 2014) its next generation heat reflective exterior paints during
their participation at this year's edition of the World Future Energy Summit
(WFES 2014), the world’s foremost event dedicated to advancing future energy,
energy efficiency and clean technologies, which will be held from January 20 to
January 22, 2014 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The
company has revealed that it is throwing the spotlight on ‘Jotashield Extreme,’
a 100 per cent pure acrylic formulation designed for durability in extremely
harsh tropical climates. The new range, which is the result of the company’s
use of innovative and revolutionary pigment technology, has been developed to
address key environmental concerns like rising energy costs, global warming and
the need for effective heat management solutions. The Jotun exhibition stand is
located in Hall 8 at ADNEC.
According to Jotun senior executives,
exterior walls in a hot and harsh climate like that of the Middle East region,
heavily absorbs heat in the form of infrared rays from the sun, which leads to
effects that include warmer interiors, higher cooling costs and faster paint
deterioration. Looking to address these effects, Jotun has developed
‘Jotashield Extreme,’ which offers a revolutionary 2X heat reflective feature
that can reflect up to twice the amount of heat away from your exterior walls
as compared to other standard paints--resulting in a reduction in temperature
level while increasing your comfort level and lowering cooling costs. More importantly,
‘Jotashield Extreme, is a low-VOC environmentally green product that can also
help in reducing Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, a phenomenon where metropolitan
areas become slightly warmer than its surrounding rural areas.

sustainable development. In particular, we will be featuring ‘Jotashield
Extreme,’ which offers superior colours with outstanding protection against the
destructive effects of UV rays and heat from Infrared (IR) rays present in sunlight.”
Recent studies conducted by Building
System and Diagnostic Pte. Ltd., an independent research group, has shown that
the energy saved in a building painted with ‘Jotashield Extreme’ is enough to
power 1,380 (18 watt) energy saving lamps for one hour. Aside from this study,
Jotun has also conducted various tests on aluminium and cement fibre boards;
showing significant temperature differences as compared to using normal paints.
'Jotashield Extreme' has also been classified as non-hazardous and is 100 per
cent free from heavy metals such as lead, mercury, chromium and cadmium. The
product, which exceeds GS-11 standards for paint, is LEED compliant and meets
the requirements set by Estidama.
'Jotashield Extreme' is developed with
an advanced formulation that forms an extra durable and water resistant paint
surface, thereby resulting in low dirt pick-up and excellent resistance to
alkali, algae and fungus. The paint also presents a unique 2x UV Protected
Colours feature that offers the longest lasting and most fade resistant colours
in the exterior paint category. Users are also given assurance and confidence
with its offer of a 10-year performance guarantee and high anti-carbonation
feature, which protects against chalking, flaking, peeling, etc.
Lastly, the company's participation at
WFES 2014 will also allow them to share the achievements of its Abu Dhabi
production facility. At present, the Abu Dhabi plant produces more than 25 million litres of
paints annually and has managed to strengthen its sustainability efforts with
the roll-out of its ‘GreenSteps’ initiative--a five-point goal program that
leaves consumers with the security and confidence that Jotun products are
better formulated and conform to world class green building
standards. The five ‘GreenSteps’ include the move to reduce energy consumption;
reduce carbon footprint; reduce waste; reduce the use of solvent which will
help in reducing Volatile Organic Content (VOC) and reduce the use of hazardous
materials. The company’s move towards the environment and more sustainability
has also landed the company in the current edition of the Sustainable Building
Products Online Directory of Masdar, which can be found at

تشارك "جوتن للدهانات"، الشركة
الرائدة عالمياً في مجال إنتاج وتوزيع الدهانات والطلاء ومسحوق الطلاء، في "القمة
العالمية لطاقة المستقبل 2014"، التي انطلقت أعمالها اليوم (الاثنين 20 كانون
الثاني/يناير 2014)، في سبيل استعراض الجيل التالي من طلاءاتها الخارجية العاكسة
للحرارة. وتعتبر القمة حدث عالمي بارز يناقش موضوع طاقة المستقبل وكفاءة إستهلاك
الطاقة وتطوير التقنيات النظيفة،
وذلك على مدى ثلاثة أيام لغاية 22 كانون الثاني/يناير الجاري في مركز أبوظبي
الوطني للمعارض "أدنيك".
وتهدف مشاركة الشركة في الحدث إلى تسليط
الضوء على طلاء "جوتاشيلد اكستريم" المصنوع من مادة الاكريليك النقي 100% والمصمم للحفاظ على متانة وجودة الطلاء في الظروف
المناخية القاسية. ويستند
الطلاء في تكوينه إلى تقنية ثورية في عالم الطلاءات، لا سيّما وأنه مطوّر خصيصاً لمواجهة المشكلات البيئية
الرئيسية مثل ارتفاع تكاليف الطاقة، وظاهرة الاحتباس الحراري وتلبية الحاجة الملحة
لتبني حلول فعالة للتعامل مع الحرارة. وتقع منصة العرض الخاصة بـ "جوتن"
ضمن القاعة رقم 8 في "أدنيك".
وأفاد كبار المسؤولين التنفيذيين في
"جوتن" بأنّ الجدران الخارجية، التي تتعرض لظروف جوية قاسية كما هو عليه
الحال في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، تمتص الأشعة تحت الحمراء من الشمس مما يؤدي إلى
ارتفاع درجة حرارة الجدران الداخلية وارتفاع تكاليف التبريد وانخفاض جودة ومتانة
وعمر الطلاء. وبهدف الحد من هذه التأثيرات، طورت "جوتن" طلاء "جوتاشيلد
إكستريم" الذي يتميز بخاصية الإنعكاس المضاعف للحرارة عن الجدران الخارجية مقارنة بالطلاءات
التقليدية، مما يؤدي إلى انخفاض درجات الحرارة وتعزيز مستويات الراحة وتقليل
تكاليف التبريد. والأهم في ذلك، يتميز طلاء "جوتاشيلد
اكستريم" بأنّه يحتوي على نسبة منخفضة من المركبات العضوية المتطايرة، كما يساهم في تخفيض
إستهلاك الطاقة لأغراض التكييف والتخفيف من ظاهرة "الجزيرة الحرارية الحضرية" (UHI) حيث تكون
درجة الحرارة في المناطق
الحضرية أعلى بقليل من المناطق الريفية المحيطة بها.
وقال شريف مجيد، المدير العام لـ "جوتن
للدهانات" في أبوظبي: "تسعدنا المشاركة في دورة العام الحالي من "القمة

2014" لاستعراض أحدث الطلاءات الخارجية العاكسة للحرارة والمزايا العديدة
التي توفرها. وتجسد مشاركتنا في الحدث التزامنا التام بالحفاظ على البيئة
والمساهمة في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة. ويتمحور تركيزنا الرئيسي خلال الحدث حول تسليط
الضوء على طلاء "جوتاشيلد إكستريم" الذي يتوفر بألوان مميزة مع خاصية الحماية من أشعة الشمس فوق
البنفسجية والأشعة تحت الحمراء.
وأشارت دراسات جديدة أجرتها مجموعة
"بيلدنغ سيستم آند دياغنوستك" البحثية (Building System and Diagnostic Pte. Ltd.) بأنّ حجم الطاقة الذي تم توفيره ضمن
الأبنية التي تم طلاؤها بواسطة "جوتاشيلد إكستريم" كافٍ لتزويد 1,380
(18 واط) مصباح من المصابيح الموفرة للطاقة بالطاقة اللازمة للإنارة لمدة ساعة
واحدة. وإستناداً إلى عدد من الإختبارات التي اجرتها الشركة، توجد فروقات كبيرة
في درجات الحرارة الداخلية عند إستخدام "جوتاشيلد اكستريم" على أسطح
الألمنيوم والإسمنت، بالمقارنة مع الدهانات العادية. وصُنّف هذا المنتج بأنه غير
خطر وخالٍ تماماً من المعادن الثقيلة كالرصاص والزئبق والكروم والكادميوم. ويحظى المنتج، الذي يطابق معايير GS-11 للدهانات، بأهمية خاصة من الناحية البيئية باعتباره
حاصلاً على شهادة "نظام الريادة في التصميم البيئي والطاقة" (LEED) ومتوافقاً
مع متطلبات برنامج
"استدامة".
وتم تطوير دهانات "جوتاشيلد إكستريم" من خلال تقنية متطورة تقوم
بتشكيل سطح طلاء دائم ومقاوم للماء، مما يؤدي إلى انخفاض معدلات التقاط الأوساخ،
ويوفر مقاومة ممتازة للقلويات والطحالب والفطريات. كما يوفر ألواناً داخلية مقاومة
للتلاشي تبقى لفترات أطول. ويمكن للمستخدمين الوثوق بهذه الدهانات من خلال الحصول
على ضمان للأداء مدته 10 سنوات، بالإضافة إلى ميزة مقاومة الإشباع الكربوني
للحماية من التساقط والتقشير.
وأخيراً، تتيح مشاركة "جوتن" في "القمة العالمية لطاقة
المستقبل 2014" فرصة عرض إنجازات مصنعها في أبوظبي وتعزيز جهوده في مجال
الاستدامة مع إطلاق مبادرته "خطوات خضراء" (GreenSteps)، وهي عبارة عن برنامج من خمس نقاط يهدف إلى منح المستهلكين الأمان والثقة.
وينتج هذا المصنع في الوقت الحالي أكثر من 25.6 مليون ليتر من الدهانات سنوياً.
وقد تم تطوير منتجات "جوتن" وفق أعلى مستويات الجودة، وهي متوافقه مع
معايير المباني الخضراء رفيعة المستوى. وتشتمل نقاط مبادرة "خطوات
خضراء" الخمس على الحد من استهلاك الطاقة والنفايات واستخدام المواد الخطرة،
وتقليل الانبعاثات الكربونية وتخفيض استخدام المذيبات الذي يخفض بدوره (المركبات
العضوية المتطايرة) (VOC). كما أسهم تحرك
الشركة نحو تحقيق بيئة افضل ومزيد من الاستدامة في إدراجها ضمن الطبعة الحالية
لدليل منتجات البناء المستدام الإلكتروني لمدينة "مصدر" والذي يمكن

في دولة الإمارات العربيه المتحدة، بما في ذلك مدينة "مصدر"، المرحلة
الأولى من (معهد مصدر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا) (دهانات فينوماستيك غولد)، وحديقة
البطين (دهانات جوتاشيلد إكستريم)، وحدائق بلوم (دهانات جوتاشيلد إكستريم) وفندق
