World Expo 2020 logo displayed on Dnepr Launcher Rocket in support of Dubai’s hosting bid
UAE, November 4, 2013 - The Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST), part of a strategic initiative to inspire scientific innovation and technological advancement in the UAE, announced that it has moved the DubaiSat-2 satellite, from South Korea to Russia under supervision of its top engineers in preparation for Launch in the near future. DubaiSat-2 will be launched on a Dnepr Rocket through the Moscow-based International Space Company Kosmotras, from Yasny Launch Base.
As part of its initiative to support the UAE’s World Expo 2020 bid, EIAST further revealed that the Expo 2020 logo will be displayed on the DubaiSat-2 launcher rocket. This move comes in line with the institution’s commitment to contribute effectively to overall development in the UAE through extended support for the landmark global event. The Dubai Expo bid represents a real embodiment of the leadership’s wise vision to create channels of cultural, humanitarian, scientific and economic communication and encourage intellectual and cultural understanding among all peoples of the world.
H.E. Yousuf Al Shaibani, Director General, Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology, said: “DubaiSat-2 project complements the second stage of the plan set by EIAST to build an integrated team of Emirati engineers through the development of our human resources to ultimately promote the UAE’s leading position as an international destination for space technology. Over the past five years, our team of engineers at the institution has developed DubaiSat-2 under the supervision of our strategic partner Satrec Initiative. This alliance offers the opportunity to leverage expertise in space technology and boost national competencies in the hope of manufacturing satellites within the homeland soon.”

It also promotes the transformation into a knowledge-based economy that relies on human capital to shape the future of the nation while complying with the genuine values and heritage of our ancestors,” he concluded.
EIAST was established by the Dubai Government in 2006 with the goal of promoting a culture of advanced scientific research and technology innovation in Dubai and the UAE, and enhancing technology innovation and scientific skills among UAE Nationals. It is mainly involved in outer space research and development; satellite manufacturing and systems development; space imaging; and ground station services and support for other satellites.

المؤسسة تدعم ملف "إكسبو 2020" وتضع الشعار على الصاروخ "دنيِبِّر"
[الامارات في 4 نوفمبر 2013 ]- أعلنت "مؤسسة الإمارات للعلوم والتقنية المتقدمة-إياست" (EIAST)، المبادرة الاستراتيجية الرامية إلى تشجيع الابتكار العلمي والتقدّم التقني في دولة الإمارات، عن نقل القمر الصناعي "دبي سات-2" من كوريا الجنوبية الى روسيا، بإشراف عدد من المهندسين العاملين في "إياست" في سبيل إجراء التحضيرات اللازمة لإطلاق القمر في وقت قريب. وسيتم إطلاق القمر الجديد على متن صاروخ ''دنيِبِّر'' بالتعاون مع شركة الفضاء الدولية الروسية (كوزموتراس).
وكشفت المؤسسة عن مبادرة نوعية جديدة لدعم ملف استضافة الإمارات لـ "معرض إكسبو الدولي 2020"، حيث سيتم وضع شعار "إكسبو 2020" على الصاروخ الذي سيطلق "دبي سات-2" الى الفضاء. وتأتي هذه الخطوة تماشياً مع التزام "إياست" في الإسهام بفعالية في دفع مسيرة النهضة الشاملة التي تقودها دولة الإمارات عبر دعم الحدث الدولي الرائد الذي يمثل تجسيداً حقيقياً لرؤية القيادة الرشيدة المتمحورة حول تعزيز قنوات التواصل الحضاري والإنساني والعلمي والاقتصادي وتشجيع التفاهم الفكري والثقافي بين شعوب العالم.
وقال سعادة يوسف الشيباني، المدير العام لـ "مؤسسة الإمارات للعلوم والتقنية المتقدمة": "يمثل مشروع "دبي سات-2" المرحلة الثانية من الخطة التي وضعتها المؤسسة المتمثلة في بناء فريق متكامل من المهندسين الإماراتيين وتطوير الموارد البشرية، بهدف تعزيز مكانة الإمارات الطليعية كوجهة عالمية في مجال تكنولوجيا الفضاء. وقد قام فريق من المهندسين العاملين في المؤسسة على مدى خمس سنوات بتطوير "دبي سات-2" بإشراف شريكنا الاستراتيجي "ساتريك إنيشيتيف"، إذ شكل هذا التعاون فرصة للاستفادة من الخبرات في مجال علوم الفضاء وتنمية القدرات البشرية المواطنة لنصل في وقت قريب الى تصنيع الأقمار الصناعية على أرض الوطن."
