Emirates Paediatric Dentistry Club’s primary objectives are to elevate standards, drive preventive care programs and encourage research
United Arab Emirates – Dubai, October 28, 2013: Under the umbrella of Emirates Medical Association (EMA) and with the support of P&G’s Oral Care brands, Oral-b & Crest, paediatric dentists in the UAE have joined hands to create the Emirates Paediatric Dentistry Club (EPDC), UAE’s first organisation dedicated to elevating standards and accessibility of oral health care for children in the UAE,.
Guest of Honor, Dr. Aisha Sultan, President of Emirates Dental Society and Head, Dental Department, Ministry of Health, UAE presided over the inauguration ceremony held on October 26th in Dubai and decreed, “Each child in the UAE has a fundamental right to complete oral health care. I’m proud to announce the formation of the Emirates Paediatric Dentistry Club which will serve to ensure that all children living in UAE receive optimal-quality and accessible oral health care.”
The membership based entity has been created to serve as an advocate for the professionals involved in delivery of oral care for children. The primary aim of the club is to improve oral health in children aged 0 to 15, and to encourage the highest standards of clinical dental care by: streamlining policies and guidelines, providing value-add dental education programs for paediatric and general dentists, and promoting the proliferation of research and science to ensure optimal oral health and disease prevention for all children both at professional and consumer levels.
Further the club aims to become a chief liaison between the public and the private sector, enabling the development of preventive oral health programs.

The UAE’s state of oral health for children as per the last census conducted revealed that 83% of children aged 5 suffered from dental caries, (National survey of the oral health of 5-year-old children in the United Arab Emirates) - Preventive Dentistry Section, Ministry of Health, Dubai, United Arab Emirates and General Authority for Health Services for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The EPDC will be in effect immediately and will be open for memberships by practitioners from university and hospital paediatric dental departments, paediatric dental practice (both government. & private sector) and general dental practice who serve as primary care providers to infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs.

إنشاء أول نادٍ إماراتي لطب أسنان الأطفال بدعم من جمعية الإمارات الطبية وأورال-بي وكرست
نادي الإمارات لطب أسنان الأطفال يسعى إلى رفع المعايير والتشجيع على برامج الرعاية الوقائية وإجراء الأبحاث
دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 28 أكتوبر 2013: تحت رعاية جمعية الإمارات الطبية وبدعم من علامات العناية بالفم والأسنان لدى بروكتر أند غامبل، وهما أورال-بي و كرست، تضامن أطباء أسنان الأطفال في الإمارات العربية المتحدة معاً لتأسيس نادي الإمارات لطب أسنان الأطفال، وهو أول منظمة إماراتية تعنى برفع المعايير وتعزيز إمكانات الرعاية الصحية للفم والأسنان لدى الأطفال في الدولة.
وقد ترأست ضيفة الشرف الدكتورة عائشة سلطان، رئيسة جمعية الإمارات لطب الأسنان ورئيسة قسم طب الأسنان في وزارة الصحة الإماراتية، فعاليات حفل الافتتاح الذي أقيم يوم 26 أكتوبر في دبي، وقالت: "لكل طفل في الإمارات الحق في الحصول على أفضل مستويات الرعاية الصحية بالفم والأسنان. يشرفني الإعلان عن تأسيس نادي الإمارات لطب أسنان الأطفال، والذي سيقوم على توفير الخدمات التي تضمن حصول كل طفل مقيم في الإمارات على أعلى معايير الاهتمام والجودة في صحة الفم والأسنان."
تأسس النادي المخصص للأعضاء من أجل خدمة العاملين في مجال تقديم الرعاية الصحية للفم والأسنان للأطفال، وذلك بهدف تحسين صحة الأطفال منذ الولادة وحتى سن 15 عاماً، والتشجيع على تطبيق أعلى معايير الرعاية السريرية للفم والأسنان من خلال: تبسيط السياسات والتوجيهات، وتقديم البرامج التثقيفية ذات القيمة المضافة لأطباء الأطفال وأطباء الأسنان العامين، إلى جانب الترويج لنشر الأبحاث والعلوم لضمان أعلى مستويات الصحة ووقاية الأطفال على المستوى المهني والاستهلاكي.
ويهدف النادي كذلك ليكون نقطة ارتباط رئيسية بين القطاعين العام والخاص، مما يسمح بتطوير برامج وقائية فعالة لصحة الفم والأسنان.
ومن جانبه قال الدكتور غاي غوفين، المدير للأبحاث والعلاقات المهنية في أوروبا والشرق الأوسط وإفريقيا لدى بروكتر أند غامبل: "نعمل باستمرار من أجل ترسيخ التزامنا طويل الأمد تجاه تعزيز مستويات الوعي بصحة الأسنان والتشجيع على الإجراءات الوقائية في مختلف أنحاء الإمارات. إننا في غاية الفخر بإنجازنا اليوم، ونتطلع إلى مواصلة دورنا لتمكين أعضاء نادي الإمارات لطب أسنان الأطفال وجمعية الإمارات الطبية من تحقيق أهدافهم في الوقاية وتحقيق العناية الفعالة بالفم والأسنان."
يشار إلى أن وضع صحة الفم والأسنان للأطفال في الإمارات اتضح من خلال استطلاع أجري حديثاً، وأظهر أن 83% من الأطفال بعمر الخامسة يعانون من تسوس الأسنان (وفقاً للاستطلاع الوطني لصحة أسنان الأطفال في سن الخامسة بالإمارات) – والذي أجراه قسم طب الأسنان الوقائي في وزارة الصحة بدبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، والهيئة العامة للخدمات الصحية في أبوظبي.
يبدأ نادي الإمارات لطب أسنان الأطفال مزاولة نشاطه فوراً، ويفتح أبوابه أمام العضوية للأطباء من أقسام طب أسنان الأطفال في الجامعات والمستشفيات وعيادات طب أسنان الأطفال الحكومية والخاصة، بالإضافة إلى العاملين في قطاع طب الّأسنان العام ممن يقدمون خدماتهم للرضع والأطفال والمراهقين والمرضى من ذوي احتياجات الرعاية الصحية الخاصة.
