Move aimed at promoting role integration in driving maritime sector development

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) recently held a joint meeting with officials from the Directorate General of Civil Defence – Dubai to discuss the latest developments in implementing the Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy (MSS) which is the first step aimed at achieving a radical change across the local maritime industry and ultimately positioning Dubai as a leading international maritime hub. The officials from both sides commended the progress made towards efforts to achieve sustainable development of Dubai’s maritime industry while enhancing its ability to respond to market changes and emerging trends and attract regional and international investors.
The meeting, headed by Major General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director General, Dubai Civil Defence, in the presence of high profile officials and managers, shed light on the mechanism of implementing Dubai’s Maritime Sector Strategy especially in terms of ensuring compliance with the highest standards of maritime safety, the best environmental practices and the local and international resolutions related to maritime operations management, in line with the vision and directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote Dubai’s rapidly growing footprint as a key player in the global maritime map.
Major General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi expressed his pleasure on meeting the senior officials from Dubai Maritime City Authority, noting the significance of maintaining solid cooperation and constant coordination between various government entities in order to drive the growth of Dubai’s active economic sectors, especially the maritime industry.
“The meeting provided an ideal platform to learn about the latest achievements in managing the local maritime industry and discuss various initiatives such as issuing well-developed regulations and implementing strategic programs to enhance maritime safety and quality standards. In line with our vision aimed at positioning the UAE as one of the safest and most secure countries in the world and spreading preventive awareness, we look forward to discussing ways of cooperation with the Dubai Maritime City Authority to achieve our shared vision,” Al Matrooshi said.
The meeting is of strategic importance as it offers an interactive platform to discuss the accomplishments and results achieved so far, especially in terms of promoting Dubai’s competitiveness as a leading maritime hub regionally and internationally, in addition to identifying the mechanisms of joint action in order to develop maritime industry components and leverage opportunities to strengthen Dubai’s position as one of the leading maritime hubs in the world.
Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: “The joint meetings play a pivotal role in strengthening and expanding the existing partnerships between government and non-government entities in order to promote the integration of roles which ultimately will support our efforts to develop the local maritime sector which is key to boosting economic growth in Dubai. The meeting with the senior officials of Dubai Civil Defence is a practical step towards achieving the highest levels of safety and response in line with the best international maritime practices.”
Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy follows a clear vision aimed at promoting Dubai’s leading position as a key international hub for maritime navigation and services, based on the main fundamentals and values of leadership, customer service, creativity, cooperation and human excellence, while maintaining a safe maritime environment. MSS is an integral part of the Dubai Strategic Plan to spread the culture of quality and excellence in order to drive the growth of vital economic sectors, especially the maritime sector, thus boosting the real GDP growth rate of Dubai.

اجتماع مشترك بين "سلطة دبي الملاحية" و"الإدارة العامة للدفاع المدني في دبي" لبحث إنجازات وآليات عمل الاستراتيجية البحرية

عقدت "سلطة مدينة دبي الملاحية" اجتماعاً مشتركاً مع الإدارة العامة للدفاع المدني في دبي لبحث أحدث المستجدات المتعلقة بالاستراتيجية البحرية التي تعد الخطة الأولى المتمحورة حول إحداث تغيير جذري وإيجابي ضمن القطاع البحري المحلي في سبيل ترسيخ مكانة دبي الريادية على الخارطة البحرية العالمية. وأشاد الحضور من الجانبين بالتقدم الحاصل على صعيد دفع عجلة التطوير المستدام للقطاع البحري المحلي وتعزيز قدرته على الاستجابة بفعالية لمتغيرات الأسواق ومواكبة الاتجاهات الناشئة واستقطاب المستثمرين الإقليميين والدوليين.
وشهد الاجتماع الذي ترأسه سعادة اللواء راشد ثاني المطروشي، مدير عام الدفاع المدني بدبي ومجموعة من المسؤولين، استعراض مسيرة تطبيق استراتيجية القطاع البحري في الإمارة، سيما تلك المتعلقة بمطابقة أعلى معايير السلامة البحرية وأفضل الممارسات البيئية والقرارات المحلية والدولية في إدارة العمليات التشغيلية البحرية بما ينسجم مع توجيهات صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي لجعل دبي مركزا بحريا عالميا رائدا.
وعبر سعادة اللواء المطروشي عن سعادته باللقاء وشدد على أهمية التنسيق المستمر والمتواصل مع مختلف الجهات الحكومية من أجل ضمان تحقيق أعلى مستويات الجودة والسلامة في مختلف قطاعات الأعمال في الإمارة وخصوصا على صعيد القطاع البحري، وقال سعادته: "لقد اطلعنا من قبل "سلطة دبي الملاحية" على أبرز الإنجازات التي تحققت على صعيد تنظيم القطاع البحري في إمارة دبي، من اللوائح التنظيمية الحديثة الى البرامج الاستراتيجية المتكاملة والتي من شأنها رفع معايير الجودة والسلامة البحرية. ونحن، انطلاقا من رؤيتنا المتمركزة على جعل دولة الإمارات إحدى افضل دول العالم أمناً وسلامةً وحرصنا الدائم على نشر الثقافة الوقائية في المجتمع، نتطلع من خلال هذا اللقاء إلى بحث سبل التعاون مع السلطة البحرية لتحقيق هذه الرؤية المشتركة."
ويكتسب الاجتماع بعداً استراتيجياً باعتباره منصة تفاعلية لمناقشة الإنجازات التي تحققت إلى الآن لا سيّما فيما يتعلق بتعزيز تنافسية دبي كمركز بحري رائد عالمياً وإقليمياً، فضلاً عن تحديد آليات العمل المشترك لمواصلة تطوير مكوّنات القطاع البحري المحلي وتوظيف الإمكانات الواعدة والفرص الكامنة بالشكل الأفضل للوصول بدبي إلى مصاف أبرز المراكز البحرية المتطورة في العالم.
من جانبه رحب عامر علي، المدير التنفيذي لـ "سلطة مدينة دبي الملاحية"، باللقاء قائلا: "تكمن أهمية اللقاءات المشتركة في توسيع أطر الشراكة الفعلية مع كافة الجهات الحكومية والخاصة المعنية بالشأن البحري في سبيل تعزيز تكامل الأدوار بما يخدم التطلعات الرامية إلى الارتقاء بالقطاع البحري الذي لطالما شكّل ركيزة أساسية لتحفيز النمو الاقتصادي في إمارة دبي، ويمثل الاجتماع مع مسؤولي الإدارة العامة للدفاع المدني في دبي خطوة عملية لتحقيق أرقى مستويات السلامة والاستجابة السريعة وفقا لأفضل الممارسات العالمية في القطاع البحري في الإمارة."
وتستند الاستراتيجية البحرية إلى رؤية واضحة تتمثل في تعزيز ريادة دبي كمركز عالمي للملاحة والخدمات البحرية وفق مجموعة من المرتكزات والقيم الجوهرية المتعلقة بالقيادة والتميز في خدمة العملاء والإبداع والتعاون والتفوق في الثروة البشرية والحفاظ على البيئة البحرية. وترتبط خطة القطاع البحري في دبي بشكل وثيق بـ "خطة دبي الإستراتيجية " التي تستهدف ترسيخ ثقافة الجودة والتميز ودفع عجلة النمو ضمن القطاعات الإقتصادية الحيوية وبالأخص القطاع البحري وزيادة معدلات النمو الفعلي للناتج المحلي الإجمالي في الإمارة.
