The
Middle East, a long-time source of vacationers and contributor to the
economic prosperity of the nearby Seychelle Islands, has another reason
to celebrate the pristine destination with the announcement of the
Fregate Island Private hotel. The owning company and the Oetker
Collection have signed a management contract to promote the
one-of-a-kind property as of July 2013. The UAE is the fifth-largest
provider of tourists to the islands, who depend on them for more than
60% of their annual GDP. No country in the Middle East or Asia sends
more vacationers to the luxury destination.
The Oetker
Collection’s prestigious retreat occupies an entire private island in
the middle of the turquoise and temperate waters of the Indian Ocean.
Beautifully crafted and nestled nicely into the coastal line, its
sixteen residences ranging from 400 to 700 square meters, are naturally
secluded. They all have their own luxurious terrace, large private
infinity pool and Jacuzzi. On the Island, guests also enjoy seven
stunning beaches with the possibility to “privatise” their own,
including the beach acclaimed amongst the 10 best beaches in the world.
Over 12,800 visitors
travelled to the Seychelles in 2012 from the UAE according to the
Seychelles National Statistics Bureau, validating the Gulf as a gateway
to the island for locals, as well as for visitors from across Europe.
The Oetker Collection recognizes the importance of travelers from the
region, catering to local vacationers with secure and private luxury
amenities, flexible cultural catering and awareness, and an appreciation
for luxuries that appeal to Middle Eastern nationals. The entire island
is capable of being privatised, making it the ultimate destination for a
luxury getaway.
In addition to the
amazing coastline, its lush forest and its wild protected fauna, the
resort is a secluded haven of peace, a true masterpiece. Fregate Island
Private is home to the second largest population of Giant Aldabra Land
Tortoises. Many birds also take up permanent or temporary residence in
the island which is also the nesting home to endangered turtle species.
The private inland harbour is the first port of call for all sea
adventures and the wealth of marine wildlife. Thanks to the great care
to nurture the natural habitat, organic vegetables and fruits are grown
on the island’s plantation for hotel guests to ensure the highest
quality and freshness of food. The line of Rock Spa products, named
after the hotel spa facilities, is made from the plants harvested on
site. Fregate Island Private is a jewel of conservation, Seychelles’
true sanctuary.
Frank Marrenbach, CEO
of Oetker Collection, stated: “Fregate Island Private is in perfect
harmony with the requirements of Oetker Collection: exceptional
environmental settings, overall wellbeing, exquisite décor and
incomparable service. It is certainly one of the most inspiring private
islands worldwide. We are of course very happy to have an experienced
General Manager such as Paul van Frank on board, who will be the
custodian of these values. After L’Apogée Courchevel, due to open in
December 2013, we are delighted to welcome Fregate Island Private as our
eighth masterpiece hotel. Every hotel is passionately managed based on
our ability to protect individuality and on the shared principle of
creating unique moments for our guests. One of a kind as we say.”
Didier Le Calvez,
Senior Vice President Operations and Sales & Marketing of Oetker
Collection, added: “When we first visited the hotel, we were amazed by
the engagement of the property in favour of sustainable development.
Fregate Island Private succeeds to combine luxury services and limited
ecological footprint. Moreover, it enhances our portfolio of resorts
recently joining the Collection: Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France in the
French West Indies and Palais Namaskar, Marrakech. I am delighted to be
overseeing this property on an operational level.”
