Dubai Maritime City Authority Allocates New Public Transport Marine Navigation Routes in Dubai

First-of-its-kind initiative with RTA, in support of the Maritime Sector Strategy to regulate marine transport navigation in Dubai

In line with Dubai’s Maritime Sector Strategy (MSS) and the ongoing efforts to regulate marine traffic flow in response to the fast-emerging developments, Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the maritime sector in Dubai, has announced the allocation of marine public transport navigation routes along the coastline of the emirate, in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai.

The initiative is part of the joint commitment from DMCA and RTA to regulate the marine public transport sector which continues to see a high rate of usage across different social segments. Dubai’s marine transit means comprising abras, Dubai Ferry, water buses and water taxis together ferried about 13 million passengers last year.

Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: “Allocating marine navigation routes complements Dubai’s Maritime Sector Strategy aimed at developing, organizing and promoting the industry to position the emirate as a first-class international maritime hub. Our cooperation with the RTA is particularly crucial in allocating the marine public transport navigation routes, which will facilitate maritime activities and help promote maritime services in Dubai.”

“Our partnership with RTA is based on a common vision to streamline marine traffic flow and maintain the highest standards of maritime safety and integration among the different means of marine public transport in Dubai,” added Ali.

Dr. Yousef Al Ali, CEO, RTA Public Transport Agency, said: “Marine public transport is increasingly being used by residents, nationals and tourists, as it offers high levels of flexibility, convenience and cost efficiency, and especially since it passes near major residential and tourist areas, hotels, spas and maritime sports clubs along Dubai’s coastline. Accordingly, the new initiative significantly contributes to promoting maritime security and safety while regulating marine traffic flow, in line with the common goals of RTA and DMCA to create a secure and modern maritime industry that is able to drive economic development under the directives and vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”

Ali Al Dabbous, Executive Director of Operations, Dubai Maritime City Authority, concluded: “DMCA remains steadfast in its commitment to cooperate with industry-related government and non-government entities. "سلطة دبي الملاحية" تحدد مسارات النقل الجماعي البحري بالتعاون مع "هيئة الطرق والمواصلات"

دعما لاستراتيجية القطاع البحري في إمارة دبي واستكمالاً للجهود الحثيثة الرامية إلى تنظيم حركة المسارات البحرية بما يواكب التطورات المتسارعة، قامت "سلطة مدينة دبي الملاحية" (DMCA)، الجهة الحكومية المسؤولة عن عمليات الإشراف وتنظيم وإدارة مختلف الجوانب المتعلقة بالقطاع البحري في دبي، بتحديد المسارات البحرية المخصصة لوسائل النقل الجماعي على طول سواحل الإمارة، وذلك بالتعاون مع "هيئة الطرق والمواصلات في دبي."

وتأتي المبادرة في إطار الحرص المشترك على تنظيم قطاع النقل الجماعي البحري الذي يشهد إقبالاً واسعاً من مختلف الفئات الاجتماعية، في ظل الإحصاءات الرسمية التي تؤكد وصول عدد مستخدمي وسائل النقل البحري، التي تشمل العبرات والباص المائي والتاكسي المائي و"فيري دبي"، إلى نحو 13 مليون راكب خلال العام الفائت.

وقال عامر علي، المدير التنفيذي لـ"سلطة مدينة دبي الملاحية"،"تندرج مبادرة تنظيم المسارات البحرية في دبي في إطار محاور خطة دبي الاستراتيجية للقطاع البحري الرامية إلى تطوير وتنظيم وتعزيز القطاع البحري في سبيل ترسيخ مكانة دبي كمركز بحري عالمي من الطراز الأول،" مؤكداً أهمية التعاون مع "هيئة الطرق والمواصلات في دبي" في تحديد مسارات النقل الجماعي البحري في خطوة من شأنها تسهيل النشاطات البحرية والارتقاء بمستوى خدمات النقل البحري المقدمة في الإمارة.

وأضاف علي: "تجمعنا مع "هيئة الطرق والمواصلات في دبي" رؤية مشتركة تتمحور حول تعزيز انسيابية حركة المرور البحري وتوفير أعلى معايير السلامة البحرية وتحقيق التكامل بين مختلف وسائل النقل الجماعي البحري في إمارة دبي."

من جانبه قال د.م. يوسف محمد آل علي المدير التنفيذي لمؤسسة المواصلات العامة من هيئة الطرق والمواصلات في دبي "تحظى وسائل النقل الجماعي البحري بإقبال واسع من قبل المقيمين والمواطنين والسياح لما تمتاز به من مرونة وفعالية وكفاءة عالية، لا سيّما وأنها تعمل وفق مسارات تغطي العديد من المناطق التاريخية والسكنية والفنادق والمنتجعات السياحية والنوادي البحرية المنتشرة على سواحل الإمارة. ومن هنا، جاءت مبادرتنا لتمثل إضافة نوعية من شأنها تعزيز أمن وسلامة النقل البحري المحلي وتنظيم حركة المرور البحري بما يتماشى مع أهدافنا وأهداف السلطة البحرية في دبي الطموحة والمتمثلة في خلق قطاع بحري متجدد وآمن وقادر على دفع عجلة التنمية الإقتصادية ومواصلة مسيرة التميز والريادة تجسيداً لرؤية وتوجيهات صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي، رعاه الله."

من جانبه أكد علي الدبوس، المدير التنفيذي للعمليات في سلطة مدينة دبي الملاحية، التزام السلطة البحرية بمواصلة التعاون المثمر والبنّاء مع كافة الجهات الحكومية وغير الحكومية المعنية بالقطاع البحري في دبي قائلا: "سنستمر في إطلاق الحملات التوعوية والمبادرات الرائدة والاستراتيجيات الفاعلة التي من شأنها تعزيز المقومات التنافسية للقطاع البحري المحلي لتحقيق النمو المستدام ودعم دور دبي كلاعب رئيسي ومحوري في الصناعة البحرية الإقليمية والعالمية."
