Extensive Feedback Reveals Importance Of Design-Led Approach, Staff Training And Industry-Leading Certification

A new survey has highlighted the increasing demand for consultation and design-led data storage and protection strategies.
Condo Protego, which conducts one of the industry’s most extensive customer feedback exercises, today revealed that 100 per cent of its clients from the past twelve months claimed that this type of approach delivered tangible business value.
The company works for a host of major companies across multiple sectors in the region, including banking, insurance, education, energy, manufacturing, energy and government.
CEO Andrew Calthorpe said that the unanimous assertion represents an encouraging sea-change in business leaders’ attitudes to data storage and protection.
“Data storage and protection has historically been neglected as a core business concern and treated more as an irksome chore on the corporate to-do list,” he explained.
“This is categorically no longer the case. The irresistible, irrepressible rise of big data and the constant pressure to operate round the clock is forcing the issue to the very top of the business agenda. Downtime is no longer a mere inconvenience, but a distinct reputational hazard. Today, the pressure for real-time, flawless business processes is a must, and those failing to handle their data properly are being found out.”
Condo Protego’s survey also emphasized the industry’s appetite for rigorously trained tech staff capable of both consultation and hands-on implementation. 94 per cent scored the company’s workforce between eight to ten for technical competence and their ability to understand the project’s business impact. Meanwhile, 97 per cent of clients praised Condo Protego consultants for responsiveness to concerns, and 100 per cent lauded their professionalism. Leadership and project management also ranked high, with scores at the top end of the spectrum given for 94 per cent of all engagements.
“Skill shortage is a huge problem in the region’s IT industry, so it is vital that companies pull out all the stops to maintain the most capable, professional workforces possible,” said Calthorpe.
“Overall, the industry also needs to be better at attracting and retaining new talent – both for long-term project execution and knowledge transfer. Poaching the best workers from competitors, which is a widespread and reductive practice, is simply not sustainable in the long term. To really attract new talent, we have to raise awareness that this part of the world is offering some of the most challenging, rewarding IT work on the planet.”
Calthorpe added that much of Condo Protego’s success to date is down to its determination to go the extra mile in terms of certification, which brings with it a strong requirement for training staff to world-class standards.

دراسة: تخزين البيانات وحمايتها ترفع من قيمة الأعمال

كشفت دراسة نُشرت نتائجها حديثاً عن طلب متزايد على الاستشارات المتعلقة بالاستراتيجيات المدروسة لتخزين البيانات وحفظها. وقالت شركة "كوندو بروتيغو"، التي أجرت الدراسة الأكبر من نوعها في هذا القطاع، إن جميع عملائها خلال الاثني عشر شهراً الماضية أجمعوا بالكامل على أن هذه المنهجية "قد قدّمت لأعمالهم قيمة ملموسة". وتضمّ قائمة الشركة عدداً من كُبرى الشركات العاملة في قطاعات متنوعة كالصيرفة والتأمين والتعليم والطاقة والتصنيع والقطاع الحكومي.
وقال الرئيس التنفيذي للشركة أندرو كالثورب، إن هذا الإجماع يمثل "تحوّلاً مُشجّعاً" في مواقف كبار رجال الأعمال تجاه تخزين البيانات وحمايتها، مضيفاً أن هذه المسألة "ظلّت دوماً تُعاني من الإهمال وعومِلت كمهمّة روتينية مملة على لائحة أمور العمل اليومية".
وأكّد كالثورب أن الأمر لم يعُد كذلك أبداً، وأوضح قائلاً: "الارتفاع الجامح الذي لا يمكن مقاومته أو كبحه في أحجام البيانات الكبيرة، والضغط المستمر لمواصلة العمل على مدار الساعة، تدفع هذه المسألة لتحتلّ موقعاً أعلى على جداول أعمال الشركات وسُلّم أولوياتها؛ فلم تعُد الأعطال مجرد مُشكلات مزعجة، إذ باتت خطراً يتهدّد سمعة الشركة. لذلك أصبحت الضغوط المتزايدة لضمان أن تتم إجراءات العمل فوراً ومن دون أخطاء، أمراً حتمياً، وتلك الشركات التي تفشل في التعامل مع البيانات الخاصة بها تعاملاً سليماً قد تجد نفسها خارج اللعبة".
وقد أكّدت دراسة "كوندو بروتيغو" أيضاً حاجة القطاع المُلحّة لموظفي تقنية معلومات مُدرَّبين تدريباً صارماً ليكونوا قادرين على تقديم المشورة من ناحية وتنفيذ العمل بأيديهم من ناحية أُخرى. وقد منحت 94 بالمائة من الشركات المشاركة في الدراسة موظفي "كوندو بروتيغو" ما بين 8 نقاط و10 لقاء كفاءتهم التقنية وقدرتهم على فهم الأثر التجاري للمشروع، فيما أشاد 97 بالمائة من العملاء باستشاريّي "بروتيغو" لقدرتهم على الاستجابة للمخاوف، فيما أجمع كلّ المشاركين بالدراسة على مهنية هؤلاء المستشارين. وقد حازت القيادة وإدارة المشاريع أيضاً مرتبة رفيعة، إذ منحها 94 بالمائة من المشاركين أعلى النقاط.
وعلّق كالثورب بالقول: "إن نقص المهارة مشكلة كبيرة في قطاع تقنية المعلومات بالمنطقة، لذلك فمن الأهمية بمكان أن تزيل الشركات جميع العوائق من أجل تمكين الموظفين ذوي القدرات والمهنية العالية من العمل والإبداع".
ورأى الرئيس التنفيذي للشركة القطاع، عموماً، يحتاج أيضاً إلى أن يكون أفضل في استقطاب المواهب الجديدة واستبقائها، سواء لتنفيذ المشاريع طويلة الأجل أو لنقل المعرفة والخبرة، إلاّ أنه اعتبر تصيُّد الموظفين لدى الشركات المنافسة "أمراً غير مقبول على المدى الطويل، رغم كونه ممارسة شائعة لا يرى فيها البعض مشكلة"، وقال: "ينبغي، من أجل استقطاب المواهب الجديدة، العمل على إذكاء الوعي بأن هذا الجزء من العالم يُقدم بعض أهمّ الإنجازات المُجزية وأكثرها تحدياً في العالم".
من جهة أُخرى، عزا كالثورب كثيراً من إنجازات شركته ونجاحاتها إلى تصميمها على اتخاذ خطوات إضافية مُهمّة، سيّما فيما يتعلّق بالاعتماد الذي يأتي بمتطلبات مُلحّة لتدريب الموظفين وفق معايير عالمية رفيعة.
