Leading international trade association looking to play significant role in industry’s growth

The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), one of the world's leading international meetings industry trade associations, has expressed its confidence in the continued growth in the international association meetings market segment of the Middle East region. Aiming to play a significant role in the industry’s further growth, ICCA has opened its first Middle East regional office in September last year, which is leveraging the association’s key expertise in the international association meetings sector--offering unrivalled data, communication channels and business development opportunities to its members here.
“Since we opened last September, our regional office in the Middle East has picked up its pace and is now working at full speed. Establishing our presence in the region isn't simply a move to deliver better services to our existing members in this region, but also a recognition that the international association meetings market is continuing to evolve, and it is in the growth of regional meetings in the Middle East that we anticipate some of the most dramatic future developments,” said Arnaldo Nardone, President, ICCA. “This implies is that there is going to be more business for our existing members in the Middle East, more new events to identify and add to the ICCA Association Database, more new infrastructure developments, more understanding of the strategic importance of association events by city and national governments, and more interest in ICCA by potential new members. It is strategically important for ICCA to build a long-term presence in the Middle East market.”
The ICCA has also named Gamal Sadek from Al Ketbi Consultancy as the newly-appointed Dubai-based ICCA Regional Director for the Middle East. Sadek brings a wealth of experience in frontline sales and marketing and in-depth knowledge of the meetings industry in the region. Prior to assuming his post at the ICCA, Sadek underwent months of intensive training on ICCA products and services. In fact, the new regional director is looking forward to his first official event as the association’s official representative to this year’s edition of the Gulf Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition (GIBTM), which will take place from March 25 to March 27, 2013 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
“My top priority is to make sure that every ICCA member in the Middle East knows that they’ve now got a friendly point of contact to help them get the maximum value out of their ICCA membership, to make them aware of how to use the ICCA network, the database, and the full range of ICCA services,” said Sadek.
The ICCA is a not-for-profit trade organization whose primary purpose is to be the global community for the meetings industry; enabling its members to generate and maintain significant competitive advantage. The association represents the main specialists in organising, transporting and accommodating international meetings and events, comprising over 950 member companies and organisations in 88 countries worldwide. The ICCA has five regional offices in addition to its Head Office in Amsterdam, with established operations already serving Asia-Pacific, North- and Latin America, and regional offices in the Middle East and Africa. The leading trade group is celebrating its 50th year anniversary this year.
الجمعية الدولية للمؤتمرات والإجتماعات تتوقع نمواً باهراً لقطاع المؤتمرات الدولية للجمعيات في الشرق الأوسط

أبدت "الجمعية الدولية للمؤتمرات والإجتماعات" (ICCA)، إحدى أبرز الجهات العالمية المتخصصة في تنظيم الفعاليات الدولية ورعايتها واستضافتها، تفاؤلاً كبيراً إزاء نمو قطاع المؤتمرات الدولية للجمعيات في منطقة الشرق الأوسط. وأفادت الجمعية بأنّها تسعى إلى لعب دور رئيس في دعم هذا القطاع الحيوي والنهوض به، لا سيّما وأنّها افتتحت أول مكتب إقليمي لها في منطقة الشرق الأوسط في سبتمبر/ أيلول الماضي. وتعتزم الجمعية توفير خبرتها الكبيرة في مجال تنظيم ورعاية وإستضافة النشاطات ذات الطبيعة الدولية. ويمكن لأعضاء الجمعية في المنطقة الإستفادة من قنوات الإتصال التي تملكها وفرص تطوير الأعمال المتاحة إلى جانب الكمية الكبيرة من البيانات الهامة والحصرية.
وقال أرنالدو ناردون، رئيس "الجمعية الدولية للمؤتمرات والإجتماعات": "انتعشت أعمالنا منذ إفتتاح مكتبنا الإقليمي في سبتمبر/ أيلول من العام الماضي، وبات المكتب يعمل بكامل طاقته اليوم. ولا تعتبر خطوتنا الرامية إلى تعزيز حضورنا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط مجرد خطوة نسعى من خلالها إلى تقديم باقة من أفضل الخدمات إلى أعضاء جمعيتنا فحسب، وإنما تعكس أهمية منطقة الشرق الأوسط بإعتبارها مسرحا لمجموعة كبيرة من النشاطات والإجتماعات الدولية والإقليمية الهامة والضخمة، ونتوقع لهذه المنطقة نمواً باهراً في هذا المجال. كما نأمل أن يستفيد أعضاء "الجمعية الدولية للمؤتمرات والإجتماعات" من الفرص الكبيرة المتاحة في المنطقة، حيث نتوقع أن تحتضن المنطقة سلسلة من النشاطات الهامة التي ستعزز من مكانة الجمعية، وذلك في ضوء تنامي الإهتمام من قبل المدن والحكومات بالفعاليات الجديدة وتطوير البنى التحتية، فضلاً عن تزايد عدد الجهات التي ترغب بالإنضام إلى جمعيتنا. وبالتالي، بات لزاماً على "الجمعية الدولية للمؤتمرات والإجتماعات" أن تعزز حضورها على المدى الطويل في منطقة الشرق الأوسط."
وكشفت "الجمعية الدولية للمؤتمرات والإجتماعات" عن تعيينها لجمال صادق، المقيم في دبي، في منصب المدير الإقليمي لها في الشرق الأوسط. ويملك صادق القادم من مكتب الكتبي للإستشارات خبرة كبيرة في مجال التسويق والمبيعات وقطاع الإجتماعات في المنطقة. وقبيل إستلامه لمنصبه الجديد، خضع صادق إلى دورات مكثفة استمرت لعدة شهور حول منتجات وخدمات الجمعية. ويتطلع صادق إلى الإشراف على أول حدث رسمي في منصبه كمدير إقليمي للجمعية، وذلك خلال دورة العام من "معرض الخليج لسياحة الحوافز والمؤتمرات"، والذي سيقام في الفترة من 25 إلى 27 مارس/ آذار الجاري في مركز أبوظبي الوطني للمعارض "أدنيك".
وقال صادق: "مهمتي الرئيسية هي تفعيل التواصل مع كافة الجهات الأعضاء بـ "الجمعية الدولية للمؤتمرات والإجتماعات" في منطقة الشرق الأوسط ومساعدتهم على إستثمار عضويتهم بالشكل الأمثل. كما نعمل جاهدين على التعريف بشبكة "الجمعية الدولية للمؤتمرات والإجتماعات" وقاعدة بياناتها ومحفظتها المتكاملة من المنتجات والخدمات."
