Top higher education programs to be disseminated to 20 Abu Dhabi schools

Abu Dhabi’s education authorities affirm the need to overcome an existing gap between the output of the emirate’s education system and the needs of the labor market. The Abu Dhabi Executive Council is taking concrete steps to innovate the learning experience and deploy competent educators. To supplement these ongoing efforts, ALHOSN University has begun a series of ‘Open Day’ visits to high schools across Abu Dhabi to enlighten students on the best career choices and current labor market demands. The university has already toured 15 schools so far, with plans to visit five more institutions.
In each visit, university representatives outlined career paths for in-demand fields such as Engineering, Architecture, Education and Business Administration, all of which are covered by ALHOSN’s academic programs developed primarily by North American educators. They noted the employment benefits of enrolling in the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) course which was launched just last year. Students were also encouraged to avail of scholarships of as much as 90 per cent and above as well as various internal training, internship, recruiting, sponsorship and assistantship programs.
To assure prospective students of its high academic standards, ALHOSN also highlighted its recent achievement as the first private university in Abu Dhabi to receive accreditation from the US-based Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) for its Bachelor of Science degree programs in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Software Engineering. ALHOSN is currently the only university in the UAE that is ABET-accredited for its Industrial and Software Engineering programs.

Abu Dhabi-based ALHOSN University is a private educational institution dedicated to ‘global knowledge with a local vision.’ It was founded in 2005 by the Abu Dhabi Holding Company in response to growing local demand for high-quality, value-based educational institutions. It currently offers 12 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculties of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. ALHOSN accepts students of all nationalities and also accommodates youths with special needs. All its programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

تؤكد النظم التعليمية في أبوظبي على ضرورة تضييق الفجوة القائمة بين مخرجات التعليم في الإمارة والمتطلبات الحالية لسوق العمل. ويقوم مجلس أبوظبي للتعليم باتخاذ خطوات متسارعة لتطوير التجربة التعليمية وتعيين معلمين مختصين ومؤهلين وغيرها من الجهود الملموسة. وفي هذا الإطار، بدأت جامعة الحصن بالقيام بسلسلة من الزيارات إلى المدارس الثانوية في أبوظبي والتي تأتي في إطار فعالية "اليوم المفتوح" بهدف إطلاع الطلبة على أفضل الخيارات المهنية ومتطلبات سوق العمل الحالية. وقد قامت الجامعة حتى الآن بزيارة 15 مدرسة، مع عزمها القيام بزيارة خمس مدارس أخرى.
وفي كل زيارة من هذه الزيارات، قام ممثلو الجامعة باستعراض المسارات الوظيفية في المجالات الأكثر طلباً في سوق العمل مثل الهندسة المدنية والهندسة المعمارية والتربية وإدارة الأعمال، والتي تغطيها جميعاً البرامج الأكاديمية في جامعة الحصن، التي تم تطويرها من قبل أساتذة مختصين من أمريكا الشمالية. وأشار ممثلو الجامعة إلى الفوائد الوظيفية للتسجيل في بكالوريوس علوم الهندسة الميكانيكية، الذي تم إطلاقه العام الماضي. كما تمت الإشارة خلال تلك الزيارات الميدانية إلى المنح الدراسية المتاحة للطلبة الحاصلين على معدلات من 90% وما فوق، بالإضافة إلى مختلف برامج التدريب الداخلي والتوظيف والرعاية والمساعدة المالية.
كما سلطت جامعة الحصن الضوء على إنجازها الأخير المتمثل في كونها أول جامعة خاصة في أبوظبي تحصل على الاعتماد الأكاديمي من مجلس الاعتماد الأمريكي للهندسة والتكنولوجيا (ABET) وذلك لبرامجها في بكالوريوس العلوم في مجالات الهندسة المدنية والهندسة الصناعية وهندسة البرمجيات. وتعتبر جامعة الحصن حالياً الجامعة الوحيدة في دولة الإمارات المعتمدة من قبل هذا المجلس لبرامجها في الهندسة الصناعية وهندسة البرمجيات.
وصرح الأستاذ الدكتور ريموند تينانت، نائب مدير جامعة الحصن بقوله: "يعد التعليم الفعال والمناسب إحدى ركائز رؤية 2030 الطموحة لتطوير إمارة أبوظبي. وتركز النظم التعليمية حالياً على ضمان أن تلبي مخرجات التعليم الصحيحة المتطلبات الحالية لسوق العمل. ونحن نسهم في ذلك من خلال زيارتنا لطلبة المدارس الثانوية في الإمارة للتأكيد على أهمية اختيار البرامج التعليمية التي تناسب أهدافهم على الصعيدين المهني والشخصي مع أخذ متطلبات سوق العمل الحالية بعين الاعتبار. وكانت ردود الفعل إيجابية للغاية، ونحن نتطلع إلى رؤية العديد من الطلبة الذين تواصلنا معهم وقد انضموا إلى جامعتنا.
وتعد جامعة الحصن، ومقرها أبوظبي، مؤسسة تعليمية خاصة تأسست خلال العام 2005 من قبل شركة أبوظبي القابضة استجابة لتنامي الطلب المحلي على مؤسسات التعليم النوعي. وتوفر الجامعة حالياً 12 برنامجاً خاصاً بدرجة البكالوريوس و7 برامج خاصة بالدراسات العليا ضمن كلية الهندسة والعلوم التطبيقية وكلية الأعمال وكلية الآداب والعلوم الاجتماعية. وتستقبل الجامعة الطلبة من مختلف الجنسيات، بالإضافة إلى الطلبة من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة. وتم اعتماد كافة برامج الجامعة من قبل وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي في دولة الإمارات.
