• China
Harbour Engineering Company wins AED150 million contract for marine and
infrastructure works at AED1 billion Falcon Island development
• Venice-like canal and private beaches among features to be developed
• Work to begin in March 2015, with completion due by October 2016
The
marine and infrastructure works for one of the most exclusive private
residential developments in the UAE, today moved a step closer to
becoming a reality after the contract for their construction was awarded
to China Harbour Engineering Company.
Designed
to house the first LEED Platinum Certified real estate of its kind in
the Gulf, Falcon Island, will feature 150 of the most exquisite villas
and mansions, complete with European architecture and interiors that
represent the pinnacle of luxury living.
A
central canal, described by Al Hamra Real Estate General Manager Benoy
Kurien as a ‘little piece of Venice in the Middle East’, will split the
island in two, and is one of a number of the natural island’s signature
features that will be developed as part of the AED150 million marine and
infrastructure contract, the property developer said.
“Imagine
waking up to the soothing sounds of waves hitting the beach or the
chance to take in the breath taking sea views that stretch out over the
Arabian Gulf, all from your own private beach. Fast forward to the
evening and picture yourself enjoying a relaxing evening stroll along a
palm tree-lined canal, passing through majestic parks, along boardwalks,
and the serenity of your own secluded havens,” said Mr. Kurien.
“This
is the lifestyle that we are creating at Falcon Island: a retreat from
the fast pace of the big cities, a place where families can enjoy some
of the finer things in life and establish the perfect balance between
elegance and sustainability,” he continued.
Falcon
Island will be totally powered by innovative solar technologies. Hybrid
district cooling systems will provide temperature control at a fraction
of conventional costs, and a range of innovative smart technologies
will be installed as standard, allowing residents to assume greater
control over energy consumption and home automation.
In
addition to cutting-edge smart technologies and luxury interior brands
that are not available anywhere else in the region, the marine features
at Falcon Island are a big part of the attraction, and China Harbour
Engineering Company will be responsible for dredging the canal,
landscaping private and public beaches; and power, sewage, and road
networks. Existing beaches at Al Hamra Village will also be enhanced as
part of the awarded contract.
“China
Harbour Engineering Company is a world-renowned contractor, responsible
for infrastructure projects worth over US$10 billion. “Through these
developments we’ve demonstrated our ability to work to the highest
standards and specifications, and we are delighted to be taking charge
of the marine and infrastructure works at Falcon Island,” said Mr. Li
Guowei, General Manager of China Harbour Engineering Company.
Falcon
Island will offer a wide variety of luxury homes ranging from 5 bedroom
villas to 8 bedroom mansions. Underpinning the entire development will
be customisation, with buyers able to choose features and create their
own bespoke property using a homebuilder app. Home owners can choose the
number of rooms, external façades, landscaping, and swimming pools.
With an array of interiors and luxury finishing options, Falcon Island
will also include selection of beachfront homes that will be fully
interior designed and furnished by such bespoke Italian luxury brands as
Fendi Casa, Bentley Home, Kenzo Maison, and Alberto Vignatelli’s
Heritage Collection.
