2014 Cycle becomes the first cycle to welcome 10 new startups
May 20th, 2014, Cairo, Egypt —
Flat6Labs Cairo held its Seventh Demo Day event with 10 new
startup companies graduating from the accelerator program’s
4-months-long cycle. The Demo Day, which was sponsored by MC Egypt,
provided the startups hosted by Flat6Labs Cairo with the opportunity
to pitch their ideas to a number of potential investors and business
leaders.
The Spring 2014 cycle
welcomed an exceptionally diverse group of entrepreneurs with
businesses offering products and services in fields such as creative
product design, renewable energy, agriculture and food solutions and
mobile & web-based applications. The latest acceleration cycle
played host to exciting guests and introduced the participating
startups to entrepreneurs and leaders in a wide array of fields. The
startup companies were exposed to business executives, technology
innovators, corporate CEOs, social entrepreneurs, and journalists
among others.
The Demo Day event was attended by the
Flat6Labs mentors and staff, governmental representatives, reputed IT
figures from the region, press and investors who were keen on
witnessing the progress of the cycle's startups. During this latest
cycle of its accelerator program, Flat6Labs aimed to add value to the
budding entrepreneurial ecosystem across the MENA region by
announcing the expansion of their operations with the launch of
Flat6Labs Abu Dhabi in partnership with TwoFour54. This announcement
followed the launch of their Flat6Labs Jeddah operations in Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia last year in partnership with Qotuf Al Riyadah.
This cycle’s startup companies were a
diverse group which included several product manufacturers such as
Reform Studio which specializes in handmade fabrics, Sunergy which
provides renewable energy solutions, KhObz which manufactures
automated machinery to create traditional Egyptian bread, Telecosys
which delivers software solutions for telecommunication companies and
Farminal which offers technology solutions for dairy farms. Among the
startup companies were many with a focus on web-based and mobile
applications including Tamreeni, an online Arabic fitness community,
Mapture which provides geo-related data, LocName which provides short
and unique name for addresses, which can easily be shared with
friends & clients, Codly which accelerates software development
process for mobile app developers and Ennota.com, which offers
affordable financial software solution for SMBs in MENA.
Ramez Mohamed, CEO of Flat6Labs stated
“The level of diversity and specialization present among this
cycle’s startup companies speaks volumes for the future of this
country and the importance and power of its innovative youth.” He
added, “We are very pleased to actively take a part in driving the
regional entrepreneurial scene with the collaboration of our partners
across the MENA region.”
Over the past three years, Flat6Labs
has actively led to the creation of 36 companies with more than 320
jobs created and having welcomed more than 120 entrepreneurs through
its doors. The presence and activities of entities such as Flat6Labs
in Egypt signifies the continued growth and innovation across the
country and their expansion across MENA highlights the growing trend
of the youth taking the reins on innovation and positive change.

مثيرة للاهتمام، و قدمت الشركات الناشئة
المشاركة لرواد أعمال و قادة في مجموعة
واسعة من المجالات.

ومبتكرين مختصون بالتكنولوجيا، بالإضافة
إلى رؤساء تنفيذيين للشركات وأصحاب مشاريع

تسلم الحلول التقنية لإدارة مزارع
الألبان. كثير
من الشركات الناشة الأخرى تقدم تطبيقات
الهواتف الذكية والقائمة على شبكة
الإنترنت، من بينهم Tamreeni،
التي تقدم مجتمع عربي لللياقة البدنية

توفر البيانات ذات الصلة الجغرافية، و

توفر اسماء قصيرة وفريدة من نوعها للعناوين

مصر يدل على استمرار النمو والابتكار في
جميع أنحاء البلاد وتوسعها في جميع أنحاء
الشرق الأوسط، و يسلط الضوء على الاتجاه
المتنامي من الشباب أخذ زمام على الابتكار
والتغيير الإيجابي.
