Through the new Reference Architectures, which provide a set of guidelines and best delivery methods for particular technology deployments within an IT service catalog, customers can now leverage an all-in-one solution with a single, unified backup, recovery and archive platform that lowers total cost of ownership and has the flexibility to scale from terabytes to petabytes. As a result, customers can eliminate the cost and hassle of deploying multiple single-purpose appliances with a modernized data infrastructure that provides insight and value to the business and keeps up with the pace of today’s data growth demands.

Commvault Supports Cisco HyperFlex

The race for greater digital connectivity is a marathon not a sprint

A newly released report highlights that the UAE is leading the Arab world when it comes to generating economic impact from investments in information and communications technologies (ICT).  The study, entitled the World Economic Forum’s Global Information Technology Report 2016, ranked the UAE 26th globally, just ahead of Qatar (27th) while Kuwait (61st) was one of the world's biggest improvers, up by 11 places on the previous list.

Commenting on the report, Christophe Meunier, partner at advisory and investment group, Delta Partners, which specialises in the telecoms, media and digital space, said:

“In the race to become a truly digital economy, the UAE has just emerged as the front runner in the Arab world.

“By investing in information technologies and demonstrating commitment to digital connectivity, the UAE will fuel and protect the future health of business, and in turn, the economy. Those companies and economies that fail to take the digital transformation turn, will not only lag behind other countries, they will ultimately struggle to remain relevant in the new digital paradigm.

“In this way ICT should be viewed as the lifeblood of the commercial sector.  To continue being an attractive place to do business, having a vibrant ICT sector is therefore critical for any economy.  Going forward it is vital that there is a solid understanding of the changing landscape, and the changing roles enterprises will need to play within it.  In this sense, the Arab world has a unique opportunity to leapfrog into the digital world, if firms are capable of seeing the opportunity and avoid replicating the path of a more mature economy.

“So, with the likes of Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Israel, Singapore, the Netherlands and the United States leading the way on the global stage, there is still everything to play for.  Qatar recently announced that spending in its "commercial sector" is projected to increase to nearly $2.8bn by 2019, with the total ICT spending by the country’s commercial sector standing at $1.9bn in 2015 according to a report entitled, "Qatar’s ICT Landscape 2016: Business." As such, against this backdrop of positivity, and with such investment already ear-marked in Qatar, the route map for growth is poised for the taking.

“As the Arab world continues to rise in the global ranks of networked readiness, there needs to be a clear understanding of the differing market dynamics at play in the ICT area. Bentley and Shell Announce Global Framework Agreement

ProjectWise ConstructSim Improves Capital Project Construction Execution through Advanced Work Packaging

EXTON, Pa., U.S.A. – July 13, 2016 – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, a leading global provider of comprehensive software solutions for advancing infrastructure, today announced a new Global Framework Agreement with Shell. The agreement serves to improve Shell’s capital project construction execution through automated 4D/5D construction management solutions provided by Bentley as a managed service. The Global Framework Agreement with Bentley underlies Shell’s ProjectVantage program, a multi-vendor integrated data-centric approach to capital project delivery. This industry-leading program is aimed at delivering safer and better projects faster by:

• controlling data throughout the capital project lifecycle; and
• applying standards and enabling replication.

Shell selected ProjectWise ConstructSim as the foundation of its construction management solution to:

Diaverum partners with Polish kidney association to run pan-European ‘Camp Krew’ for young renal patients

Munich / Krew – 11 July 2016: Diaverum, one of the leading renal care providers worldwide, is partnering with the Polish kidney association, Ogólnopolskie Stowarzyszenie Osób Dializowanych, to roll out the first pan-European summer camp in Krew, Poland. The camp, starting today, provides an adventurous vacation to 22 children suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD).

In Camp Krew, young renal patients, who have already undergone a kidney transplantation or are scheduled to receive a kidney transplant in the near future, will come together to enjoy a holiday in a safe environment, without their medical condition being the centre of focus.

“Going on a revitalising vacation is very important for patients to escape their daily routines, even more so for children. We are partnering with the Polish kidney association to give these young renal patients the opportunity to enjoy summer without any difficulties,” explains Christine Buchberger, Director Marketing and Brand at Diaverum. “Since the campers all have a similar background, they will be able to easily connect and learn from the experiences of others on how to cope with their disease.”

Diaverum and the Polish kidney association are planning to establish a series of camps over the coming years to enable more children to attend and to improve their quality of life.
