Dubai, United Arab Emirates: InterContinental Dubai Marina today announced the official opening date and advance bookings for Marina Social and The Social Room, celebrated UK Michelin starred chef Jason Atherton’s eagerly anticipated debut restaurant in the region. Marina Social will bring Jason Atherton’s deformalized fine dining to Dubai in the relaxed environment of the recently opened InterContinental Dubai Marina. Gemalto enables service providers to offer trusted crypto in the cloud

Gemalto launches first HSM purpose-built for hardware-based key management in the cloud

Dubai – July 29, 2015 – Building on successful deployments with several leading cloud infrastructure providers, Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 GTO), the world leader in digital security, today announced the availability of SafeNet Luna SA 6, the first HSM (hardware security module) purpose-built for service providers to offer on-demand crypto processing, key management and key storage in the cloud. The new SafeNet Luna SA delivers the performance and scalability required to protect the most demanding cloud applications and allows service providers to offer the highest levels of trust for their cloud environments by giving businesses total ownership of their encryption keys.

For many organizations, the option of purchasing and managing encryption keys on-premises does not align with their vision of using cloud-based infrastructure as on-demand services. In addition, service providers that want to offer higher levels of data protection are required to manage encryption solutions on behalf of their customers, which means increased liability and risk in terms of data access and complying with customer compliance requirements. The SafeNet Luna SA can be separated into 100 cryptographically isolated partitions, with each partition acting as if it were an independent HSM. Within each partition, a given customer can assign multi-tiered levels of administrative access. The partitions themselves are designed to protect key material from other tenants on the same appliance, meaning different customers – or different lines of business within a single organization – can leverage the same appliance without fear of losing their keys to other tenants. In addition, service provides have no access to key material stored on any HSM partition, giving their customers the confidence that only they have access to their sensitive cryptographic keys.

“When encryption and key management can be offered conveniently as a service by cloud providers, but with the same high-grade protections as if it were fully on-premises, organizations of all types can reach new levels of efficiency and security,” said Todd Moore, vice president of product management Encryption Products at Gemalto. “With our new SafeNet Luna SA, we are opening up a significant opportunity for service providers to grow revenue by offering customers the ability to control their keys and thereby bring more sensitive data and workloads to the cloud.”

Huawei awarded “Biggest Contribution to 5G Development” at 5G World Summit 2015

Cairo, Egypt. July 28th 2015. Huawei was awarded “Biggest Contribution to 5G Development” at 5G World Summit 2015 for its continuous innovation and industry contributions to 5G particularly for the new air interface technologies.

With the rapid development of mobile broadband and the Internet of Things, the oncoming massive number of connections between people to people, people to machine and machine to machine will quickly begin to blur the boundary between the physical world and the digital world. By 2020, an everything-connected world will become a reality with 5G becoming the key enabling technology. Although the standardization of 5G will begin in 2016, 5G technology has been a very hot topic for quite some time. The major challenge with 5G is determining how to achieve the vision of 10Gbps throughput, 1ms latency and 100 billion connections. With its extensive experience in 2/3/4G and industry-leading 5G research, Huawei was able to win the first 5G award in the industry.

“Biggest Contribution to 5G Development” Award

In order to overcome the critical challenge of 5G long tail use cases, Huawei constantly focuses on innovation and also proposed many revolutionary 5G new air interface technologies, including the foundational waveform F-OFDM which can flexibly adjust the sub carrier bandwidth, SCMA (Sparse Code Multiple Access) which can increase 3 times connections and throughput, and Polar Code which can attain the Shannon limit. With the implementation of these new technologies, the spectral efficiency can be increased by at least 3 times without introducing the multi-antenna technologies. Since 2014, Huawei released the world’s highest throughput test bed in high band (above 6GHz) and low band (below 6GHz), with total throughput reaching 115Gbps and 10.32Gbps respectively. In the academic field, Huawei has contributed over 180 papers on 5G in close collaboration with leading universities such as New York University and Harvard University. Huawei also plays an important role in many standard organizations and industry alliances such as 5GPPP, IMT2020, 5GIC, 5GMF and NGMN, defining 5G together with all industry partners.

Dimitris Mavrakis, Principal Analyst at Ovum and one of this year’s award judges commented, "Huawei is spending considerable effort and funds for 5G and is making significant advances in R&D, particularly in air interface and test bed developments. وسعيًا منها للتغلب على التحدى الكبير الذى يتصل بإستخدام تقنية الذيل الطويل (والتى تعرف بإسم  Long Tail) على شبكات الجيل الخامس، تركز هواوى دومًا على اﻹبتكار وهو ما يتجلى من خلال ما طرحته من تقنيات ثورية جديدة للنقل الهوائى فى شبكات الجيل الخامس، مثل تقنية F-OFDM الموجية الأساسية والتى تستطيع تعديل النطاق الترددى للموجات الحاملة الفرعية بمرونة، وتقنية SCMA التى يمكنها زيادة الوصلات ومعدل نقل وحدات البايت إلى ثلاث مرات أكثر، وتقنية الـPolar Code والتى تحقق أداءً يصل إلى الحد الأقصى فى الفعالية، وهو المعروف بإسم «حافة شانون - Shannon Limit». وبتطبيق هذه التكنولوجيا سيكون من الممكن زيادة كفاءة الطيف إلى ثلاثة أضعاف على الأقل دون الحاجة إلى إستخدام تكنولوجيا الهوائيات المتعددة. ومنذ عام 2014 اطلقت شركة هواوى  منصة إختبار تتميز بأعلى قدر من الإنتاجية فى العالم لترددات النطاق العالى (أكثر من 6 جيجا هيرتز) والنطاق المنخفض (أقل من 6 جيجا هيرتز) حيث وصل إجمالى حجم الإنتاجية لكل منهما إلى 115 و 10،32جيجابت فى الثانية على التوالى. وتنبغى الإشارة إلى أن هواوى قدمت إسهامات عديدة فى المجال الأكاديمى حيث أعدت أكثر من 180 ورقة بحثية حول موضوع الجيل الخامس بالتعاون الوثيق مع أبرز الجامعات مثل جامعة نيويورك وجامعة هارفارد. وفضلاً عن ذلك تلعب هواوى دورًا هامًا فى العديد من المؤسسات المرموقة والتحالفات الصناعية مثل الشراكة بين القطاعين العام والخاص فى مجال البنية التحتية لتقنية الجيل الخامس (5GPPP)، ومجموعة IMI2020 لدعم الجيل الخامس، ومركز إبتكار الجيل الخامس (5GIC)، ومنتدى دعم إتصالات هواتف الجيل الخامس المحمولة (5GMF)، وشبكات هواتف الجيل القادم المحمولة (NGMN)، حيث تعمل جنبًا إلى جنب مع هذه التحالفات نحو إبراز ملامح الجيل الخامس.

 

وقال ديميتريس مافراكيس، المحلل الرئيسى فى شركة أوفام (Ovum) وأحد أعضاء لجنة تحكيم الجائزة التى حصلت عليها هواوى هذا العام، أن "هواوى تنفق الكثير من الجهد والمال فى سبيل تطوير شبكات الجيل الخامس وأنها قطعت شوطًا هائلاً فى مجال البحث والتطوير، خاصةً فيما يتعلق بتطوير النقل الهوائى ومنصات الأختبار. وتمثل هذه الجائزة إعترافًا بالجهود المستمرة والمتميزة التى تبذلها هواوى فى مجالات اﻹبتكار والبحث والتطوير بالإضافة إلى تنفيذ أنشطة التوحيد القياسى للبائعين".
