Beeline Russia, a prominent digital operator with approximately 50 million

subscribers, has selected P.I. Works to move towards experience-driven and

automated network operations.

Russia, has selected P.I. Works’ advanced network services and cutting-edge automation

technology to transform its network operations and enhance customer experience.

The partnership involves the deployment of P.I. Works’ 24/7 Automated Network Management

solution and its Performance Management solution for Beeline’s 2G, 3G and 4G networks with

services encompassing radio, transport and core. Initial rollouts began in Moscow, Saint

Petersburg and Krasnodar through intelligent operations of Beeline’s network.

According to Beeline, early results of the deployment show higher efficiencies in terms of

spectrum resources, paving way for faster data speeds and increased service reliability. The

deployment also saw major enhancements in Beeline’s network performance indicators in terms

Kohlberg and Mubadala Sign a Definitive Agreement to Acquire Majority Stake in PCI Pharma Services

Hope probe hits the 100 million km mark, expected to arrive February 2021

 

Travelling 20% of the scheduled 493-million-kilometer journey to Mars

 

 

Dubai, UAE, 24 August 2020 – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced that the Hope probe, the Arab world’s first mission to another planet, travelled fifth of its journey to the Red Planet one month after its historic lift-off from Japan.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum shared two images from the Hope probe’s star-tracking camera and tweeted, “The Hope probe is officially 100 million km into its journey to the Red Planet. Mars, as demonstrated in the image captured by the probe’s Star Tracker, is ahead of us, leaving Saturn and Jupiter behind. The Hope probe is expected to arrive to Mars on February 2021.”

“In less than 170 days, we will celebrate the probe’s entry into the Red Planet’s orbit. It will be a path-breaking achievement in the history of global Mars missions.”

He noted that “the Emirates Mars Mission will create a giant leap in the country’s space technologies and open new horizons towards other space missions.”

He added, “the next phase requires investments in science for the benefit of mankind. We need young people to lead us towards further scientific breakthroughs.”

Hope Probe on Track

The Hope probe has so far travelled 20 per cent of its 493-million-kilometer journey to the Red Planet since its successful lift-off from Japan’s Tanegashima Space Center on July 20, 2020.

The 100-million-km milestone comes after the probe’s successful completion of its first trajectory correction maneuver TCMs that marked the firing of its six Delta-V thrusters. The probe will perform a number of further trajectory control manoeuvres, to reach its scheduled Mars Orbit Insertion (MOI) less than 170 days on February 2021, coinciding with the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Currently travelling at a speed ranging between 110,400 km/h to 122,400km/h, the Hope probe has already travelled fifth of its journey, equivalent to 130 trips from the Earth to the moon.

The probe will automatically reduce its speed to 18,000 km/h as it gets closer to Mars.

Three Advanced Instruments

This phase of the probe’s journey marks the testing of the three advanced science instruments mounted on the probe that work simultaneously to capture complete data from Mars. The first is an infrared spectrometer to measure the lower atmosphere and analyze the temperature structure. The second is a high-resolution exploration imager that will provide information about ozone levels and depth of water ice in the atmosphere, while the third, an ultraviolet spectrometer, is set to measure oxygen and hydrogen levels.

The Hope probe will provide the first truly global picture of the Martian atmosphere as it orbits the Red Planet throughout one full Martian year of 687 days.

With the help of the mounted three devices, the probe will provide answers to long-standing questions about the Red Planet as it will be the first to study the Martian climate throughout daily and seasonal cycles. It will observe the weather phenomena in Mars such as the massive famous dust storms that have been known to engulf the Red Planet, as compared to the short and localized dust storms on earth.

The Mars Hope probe will examine the interaction between the upper and lower layers of the Martian atmosphere and causes of the Red Planet’s surface corrosion, as well as study why Mars is losing its upper atmosphere.

Exploring connections between today’s Martian weather and the ancient climate of the Red Planet will give deeper insights into the past and future of Earth and the potential of life on Mars and other distant planets.

A Success Story

The Emirates Mars Mission team has amassed success in ensuring the Hope probe launch was on track despite the global COVID-19 outbreak. The team had quickly readjusted execution plans, while adhering to the necessary logistical and technical guidelines ahead of the historic launch that took place on July 20, 2020 from Japan at 1:58am UAE time.

The Emirates Mars Mission team, which includes 200 Emirati engineers and specialists, had built the orbiter in six years, at half the duration and cost of conventional missions.

The Mars mission is part of UAE’s contribution to global space exploration efforts and add a new dimension to human knowledge.

A team of Emirati experts are tracking the Mars orbiter’s journey at the ground station of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center located at Al Khawaneej. The team is supervising the probe’s control operations, and receiving signals and data from the probe.

Once it enters the Red Planet’s orbit, the probe will send back more than 1,000 gigabytes of new Mars data to be shared with over 200 research centers for free across the world.

The mission’s wider objective involves inspiring youth across the world to pursue science-based fields and spark their interest in technology, space engineering and advanced sciences as the main pillars of the future knowledge-based economy. The pursuit instills a culture of innovation and opens up new opportunities in the modern labor market.

So far, the mission has attracted 60,000 students to join its diverse educational programmes, developed 200 new technologies and helped publish 51 research papers and build 66 parts of the probe in the UAE.

رحلة المسبار وفق الخطة العلمية

وتعادل المسافة التي قطعها مسبار الأمل منذ إطلاقه الناجح في 20 يوليو إلى المريخ، نحو 20% من إجمالي المسافة التي تستغرقها رحلته للوصول إلى الكوكب الأحمر والتي تساوي زهاء 493 مليون كيلومتر، وذلك خلال 17% من الفترة الزمنية المتوقعة للرحلة والمحددة ضمن إطار 7 أشهر وفق الخطة العلمية.

ويأتي هذا الإنجاز ضمن المحطات المرحلية المخطط لها لمشروع الإمارات لاستكشاف كوكب المريخ، عقب الإعلان مؤخراً عن نجاح مسبار الأمل في إنجاز أولى عمليات تشغيل أجهزة الدفع الستة فيه، وتوجيه مساره بشكل مباشر نحو المريخ، تمهيداً لوصوله إلى وجهته المحددة في مدار الكوكب بعد أقل من 170 يوماً من الآن، بحلول شهر فبراير 2021 كما هو متوقع، وذلك بالتزامن مع احتفالات دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة باليوبيل الذهبي لتأسيس اتحادها.

وتتراوح سرعة مسبار الأمل في المرحلة الحالية بين 110,400 إلى 122,400 كيلومتراً في الساعة، وتساوي المسافة التي قطعها المسبار حتى الآن حوالي خُمس المسافة نحو كوكب المريخ، أي ما يعادل الرحلة من الأرض إلى القمر بواقع 130 مرة.

وسوف يعمل المسبار مع اقترابه في مراحل لاحقة من كوكب المريخ على خفض سرعته بصورة ذاتية، ووفق نظام تحكم ذكي إلى 18 ألف كيلومتر في الساعة، قبل دخول مدار الكوكب الأحمر.

 

فحص الأجهزة

وقد بدأت في هذه المرحلة عملية فحص الأجهزة العلمية الثلاثة على متن المسبار التي تعمل بتناغم فيما بينها، وتشمل: "كاميرا للاستكشاف"، وهي كاميرا رقمية لالتقاط صور رقمية ملونة عالية الدقة لكوكب المريخ ولقياس الجليد والأوزون في الطبقة السفلى للغلاف الجوي، وجهاز "المقياس الطيفي بالأشعة تحت الحمراء" الذي يقيس درجات الحرارة وتوزيع الغبار وبخار الماء والغيوم الجليدية في الطبقة السفلى للغلاف الجوي، بالإضافة إلى جهاز "المقياس الطيفي بالأشعة ما فوق البنفسجية" لقياس الأوكسجين وأول أكسيد الكربون في الطبقة الحرارية وقياس الهيدروجين والأوكسجين في الطبقة العليا للغلاف الجوي.

وقد صممت هذه الأجهزة لجمع أكبر حجم من المعلومات حول مناخ كوكب المريخ، حيث ستوفر إجابات علمية غير مسبوقة في مجال استكشاف المريخ، تتضمن البحث عن عوامل مشتركة تجمع بين المناخ الحالي على كوكب المريخ ومناخه في الماضي البعيد قبل خسارته لغلافه الجوي، ودراسة أسباب تلاشي الغلاف الجوي في المريخ، واكتشاف العلاقة والتفاعل بين الطبقات العليا والسفلى للغلاف الجوي لكوكب المريخ، وتوفير أول صورة شاملة عن كيفية تغير الغلاف الجوي للمريخ وتغيرات الطقس على مدار اليوم وعبر كافة فصول السنة بشكل مستمر.

 

مسبار الأمل.. قصة نجاح

ورغم تفشي أزمة فيروس كورنا المستجد (جائحة كوفيد-19) العالمية، التي شكلت تحدياً للجدول الزمني الذي وضعه فريق عمل مسبار الأمل، لجهة كافة التدابير اللوجستية والاختبارات التقنية والتجهيزات الفنية، فقد أظهر فريق مسبار الأمل كفاءة مذهلة في التكيف مع الوضع الجديد وإعادة هيكلة خططه التنفيذية بسرعة فائقة، وهو ما توج في الإطلاق الناجح لمسبار الأمل صباح يوم 20 يوليو 2020 عند الساعة 1:58 دقيقة ضمن نافذة الإطلاق المحددة مسبقاً للمسبار، ليساهموا في كتابة قصة نجاح مذهلة تضاف إلى المسيرة التنموية المتسارعة، ضمن التجربة الإماراتية للملهمة تجربتها الملهمة.

وكان فريق تصميم وبناء المسبار ضمن مشروع الإمارات لاستكشاف المريخ، الذي يضم 200 من الكوادر الإماراتية المؤهلة في تخصصات الهندسة والتكنولوجيا وعلوم الفضاء قد نجح بتوجيهات صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم في تسريع إنجاز بناء مسبار الأمل خلال ست سنوات فقط، في مشروع يستغرق في الحالات الاعتيادية أكثر من عقد من الزمن، وفي إطار ميزانية تعد الأقل كلفة من نوعها بالمقارنة مع نظيرتها من المشاريع العالمية.

ووضع إطلاق مسبار الأمل دولة الإمارات في مصاف الدول السبّاقة عالمياً في مجال استكشاف الفضاء، كما عزز مكانتها بوصفها مركزاً للصناعات الفضائية الأكثر تطوراً في المنطقة.

 

ثروة معرفية غير مسبوقة

وتتولى كوادر مواطنة متابعة رحلة مسبار الأمل من خلال محطة التحكم الأرضية في الخوانيج، بدبي، في مركز محمد بن راشد للفضاء، التي تشرف على مختلف عمليات التحكم والتواصل مع مسبار الأمل منذ إطلاقه من جزيرة تانيغاشيما اليابانية. ويتلقى مهندسو محطة التحكم الأرضية الإشارات والرسائل والبيانات والمعلومات العلمية من المسبار.
