AUC TO HOST “THE BIG FLIP” SCREENING

WHAT

A film screening, “The Big Flip,” hosted by The American University in Cairo (AUC). The film is part of the American Film Showcase, which brings award-winning contemporary American documentaries, independent fiction films, and documentary know-how to audiences around the world. The Big Flip follows the lives of four “flipped” families where the wife wins the bread and the husband takes care of the home and children.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker, Izzy Chan, moderated by Helen Rizzo, associate professor and chair of the Department of Sociology, Egyptology and Anthropology at AUC.

Izzy Chan is a filmmaker with a background in advertising as a strategist and researcher in human behavior, social trends and popular culture. Her senior film project from University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts was screened at film festivals around the world. Chan’s personal struggle as an “accidental” breadwinner wife is the spark that led to the making of the documentary.

تحول جيل الألفية سريعاً ليشكل الأغلبية في القوى العاملة اليوم في مصر، وهي بلد لعدد كبير من الشباب، 25% من تعدادها يتراوح أعمارهم بين 18 و 29 عام. وبالنسبة للشركات، لا يمكن تجاهل هذه القوى العاملة المتغيرة. وفي حين تم تصميم معظم العمليات الداخلية لتؤدي بالطرق التي كانت تعمل بها الأجيال السابقة بشكل تقليدي. فقد أصبحت هذه القضية أكثر أهمية لدوائر تكنولوجيا المعلومات وأمن المعلومات، حيث يمكن للموظفين أن يمثلوا الحلقة الضعيفة في الدفاع ضد قراصنة الإنترنت وإبعادهم عن أنظمة الشركات.

استطلعت دراسة حديثة أجرتها IBM آراء 4,000مستهلك في أوروبا وآسيا والمحيط الهادئ والولايات المتحدة لمعرفة المزيد عن عاداتهم عند تسجيل الدخول إلى مختلف الأجهزة والأنظمة. وتظهر الدراسة الصادرة تحت عنوان "الخدمات الأمنية من آي بي إم: مستقبل الهوية" أن جيل الألفية لا يتمسك بالطرق التقليدية عندما يتعلق الأمر بالأمن. وقال الذين شملهم الاستطلاع أنهم يمنحون تركيزاً أقل لمعيار كلمة المرور، مثل استخدام كلمات مرور فريدة ومعقدة و يفضلون استخدام التقنيات الحديثة مثل الخصائص البيومترية ومديري كلمة المرور.

نحن نعيش في وقتٍ لا تزال فيه "123456" واحدة من كلمات المرور الأكثر انتشاراً في العالم، لذلك قد لا يشعر خبراء الأمن بالاندهاش عند معرفة أن 42% فقط من جيل الألفية المشارك في دراسة أي بي إم يستخدم كلمات مرور معقدة، مقابل 49% من بين الأشخاص الذين تزيد أعمارهم عن 55 عاماً. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك، فإن 41% من جيل الألفية يعيدون استخدام كلمة المرور نفسها عدة مرات، مقارنة ب 31% من بين الأشخاص الذين تزيد أعمارهم عن 55 عاماً. يفضل الشباب أيضاً للراحة، فحوالي النصف، أو 47% من الأشخاص الذين تقل أعمارهم عن 24 عاماً، يفضلون تسجيل الدخول السريع بالمقارنة بتسجيل الدخول الأكثر أمناً.

برامج إدارة كلمات المرور Passwords Managers

جيل الألفية أكثررغبة في استخدام برامج إدارة كلمات المرور من أولئك الذين تزيد أعمارهم على 55 عاماً. وتعمل تلك البرامج من خلال تخزين كل كلمات المرور الخاصة بالشخص في "قبو"، ويتم تشفيرها ولا يمكن لأحدٍ سواه أن يصل إليها. ويمكن لهذه التطبيقات أيضاً أن تُساعد على اقتراح كلمات مرور طويلة وعشوائية وفريدة من نوعها لحسابات مختلفة، وأن تقوم تلقائياً بإدخال كلمة المرور للمستخدمين بحيث لا يستوجب عليه حفظها.

الخصائص البيومترية Biometrics

استخدام نهج كلمة المرور فقط ليس كافياً لحماية البيانات، لأن كلمات المرور يُمكن أن تتسرب أو تخترق. لذا فهناك حاجة إلى طبقات متعددة من الحماية، وقد أصبحت خيارات التوثيق البيومترية أكثر انتشاراً. وتشمل هذه الخصائص والخيارات البصمات أو التعرف على الوجه، أو ديناميكية ضغط المفاتيح والتعرف على الصوت. وقد بدأت البنوك وشركات التجارة الإلكترونية في اعتماد الخصائص البيومترية. فحالياً يتم استخدام المصادقة ببصمة الأصابع على نطاق واسع في أجهزة الهواتف المحمولة، في حين أن أحدث نماذج الهواتف الذكية يقدم نظام تسجيل الدخول عن طريق التعرف على الوجه. ومن المتوقع أن يتم اعتماد هذه التكنولوجيات بسرعة لتطبيقات أكثر انتشاراً أيضا. ومن المرجح أن تستمر الخصائص البيومترية في تحقيق نمو سريع في عام 2018، وخاصة بين أجيال الشباب. وتبين دراسة آي بي إم أن 75% من جيل الألفية يفضل استخدام الخصائص البيومترية مقابل أقل قليلاً من 6 إلى 10% من أولئك الذين تزيد أعمارهم عن 55 عاماً.

اعتماد مستقبل الهوية

نتيجة لعمليات اختراق البيانات الرئيسية الأخيرة، فإن المعلومات التي يستخدمها الموظفين والمستهلكين لإثبات هوياتهم على الانترنت أصبح من السهل الحصول عليها من قبل قراصنة الانترنت على نحوٍ متزايد. وتتضح الآثار المترتبة على ذلك في تأكيد كبار مسئولي أمن المعلومات وكبار مسئولي المعلومات أنه إن لم تكن قد بدأت بالفعل في تطوير النظم والعمليات الداخلية القديمة الخاصة بك ولازلت تعتمد على كلمات المرور وحدها، فالآن هو الوقت المناسب للبدء. إن تأمين مكان العمل الحديث هو مهمة معقدة، ويزداد تعقيداً بسبب تحولات الأجيال والتغيرات في كيفية تعامل الموظفين مع الأمور الأمنية. ولكن تطوير طريقة نهج الاعتماد على كلمة المرور فقط يجب أن يكون على صدارة قائمة الأولوية. فالجدير بالذكر أنه في السنوات الست الماضية، تمت سرقة 112 مليار دولار من خلال عملية تزوير للهوية، وفقا لاستنتاجات من قبل شركة Javelin Strategy and Research، وهو ما يعني خسارة قدرها 35.600 دولار كل دقيقة، ولازالت الساعة تدق.

Training Machines to Defend Against a New Generation of Automated Cyber Threats
