We are already starting to see Sage drive faster innovation, a more customer-obsessed DNA and colleagues making a difference in all of our communities through the Sage Foundation.
For FY17, the second full fiscal year of our transformation, our full year guidance for FY17 is for at least 6% organic revenue growth and at least 27% organic operating margin. Summit addressing both Francophone and Anglophone Africa

UNESCO–MARS 2016 has brought together more than 200 researchers from more than 35 African countries to discuss the generation, sharing and dissemination of research data and to prepare for the road ahead in developing Africa as an international hub for research excellence and scientific innovation.

Of the 200 researchers attending the Summit, 60% are women. This is contributing to one of the main objectives of UNESCO-MARS, which is empowering women in research.

The Summit for the first time, is also addressing both Francophone and Anglophone Africa and has attracted researchers from 11 French speaking countries of Senegal, Rwanda, Gabon, Benin, Congo, Cameroon, Gambia, Burkina Faso, Morocco, Niger, Burundi. Researchers from English speaking countries are drawn from Namibia, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Liberia, Botswana and Ethiopia. In addition, researchers from Arab speaking and Portuguese speaking countries such as Egypt, Angola and Mozambique are in attendance.

Researchers benefit from diverse scientific sessions

The 2nd UNESCO MARS Summit is providing a unique opportunity for Africa’s young and talented scientists to share their research output and findings with the top echelon of scientists from Africa and abroad. It is also an opportunity for networking and career development. The Summit is presenting a platform where young scientists are able to discuss the enabling environment for better research among others.

“The researchers attending the two-day Summit are benefiting from diverse and rich scientific sessions that are focusing on the relation between infectious diseases and cancer in women; untreated infectious diseases and the high prevalence of infertility in Africa; and participating in discussions to identify scientific research priorities for evolving health needs to address infectious diseases such as Malaria, Schistosomiasis and Zika in relation to women health,” Rasha Kelej emphasized.

The Summit theme of “Infectious Diseases and Women Health is informed by the fact that for many infectious diseases, women are at higher risk and have a more severe course of illness than men for many reasons including biological differences, social inequities, and restrictive cultural norms. Therefore, efforts to recognize and reduce health disparities among women have particular relevance for global health,” Uganda Minister of State of Health, Sarah Opendi emphasized.

Key African Ministers support building research capacity and policy development in the continent

Up to 15 African ministers of Health; Education; Science and Technology and Gender & Social Development participated in two ministerial high level panels at the UNESCO-MARS 2016. The ministers in discussions committed to support the building of research capacity at country and regional level, and the development and enforcement of policies to guide and promote scientific research for the benefit of Africa. Global solar PV capacity will approach 295 GW in 2016, led by China, says GlobalData

London – 29 November 2016
The global solar photovoltaic (PV) market is set to increase its installed capacity from around 225 Gigawatts (GW) in 2015 to 294.69 GW in 2016, and will see China remain the world’s largest market for annual solar PV installations, according to research and consulting firm GlobalData.
The company’s latest report states that China installed 15.13 GW of new installed PV capacity in 2015, with cumulative capacity reaching 43.48 GW by the end of 2015. The country’s PV installed capacity has increased around 13-fold since 2011.
Ankit Mathur, GlobalData’s Practice Head covering Power, explains: “In the first quarter of 2016, China added a total of 7.14 GW of PV capacity, of which 6.17 GW accounted for solar PV power plants, and 970 Megawatts (MW) for distributed PV. The installation can be attributed to the country’s efforts to boost green energy and adjust the energy mix dominated by coal.
“In the first half of 2016, a rush of solar PV installations was witnessed, as PV power projects which were connected to the electricity grid prior to June 30, 2016 will be entitled to reap benefits from higher 2015 solar feed-in tariffs (FiTs). Indeed, China witnessed increased solar growth due to rising demand across the region ahead of the subsidy policy adjustment.”
China’s 13th Five Year Plan (FYP) sets the 2020 solar PV target at 150-200 GW, and aims to shift focus from scale expansion towards quality and efficiency. The FYP also intends to attain a non-fossil fuel renewable energy consumption of around 15% by 2020 and 20% by 2030.
Although domestic demand for solar installations in China fell in Q3 2016 as a result of FiT reductions, the state council has issued The Energy Development Strategy Action Plan (2014-2020), which aims to strengthen the overall strategy of China’s energy development, control the growth of energy consumption per unit GDP, promote more efficient green energy production and consumption, and effectively improve the competitiveness of the energy industry through a set of measures and targets.
Mathur continues: “The new solar PV installation tariffs and distributed PV electricity price subsidy standards will reduce gradually over time in order to promote scientific and technological development and efficiency, and improve the market competitiveness of PV power generation.”

Citigate Commodities Trading Limited Enters into Joint Venture Agreement with London Stock Exchange Listed Stellar Diamonds plc (AIM: STEL)

Citigate Commodities Trading (“Citigate”), a Dubai based commodities group has signed a joint venture agreement with Stellar Diamonds plc, the London listed (AIM: STEL) diamond development company focused on West Africa, in Guinea and Liberia for Safa Afrique its diamond mining portfolio. Stellar Diamonds PLC, an experienced West African diamond developer, will be operating both mines for the first phase. Citigate Commodities Trading DMCC has been appointed as the official off-taker of all diamonds produced.
Mr. Tohib Iyiola, CEO of Citigate International, said, “As the mining season approaches in the West African diamond producing nations, Safa Afrique Ltd continues its activities in the sub-region to provide its GCC-based investors substantial returns from the diamond industry. BaouléThe Guinean is an advanced brown fields project at trial mining stage with sufficient infrastructure and machinery in place with a (Non-Jorc) resource of 3.3m carats. Baoulé has an estimated In-situ value of 518m USD.”
Equally exciting are the prospects in Liberia. 670sq kilometres of land for exploration in Eastern Liberia is known as the source of the regions’ rare and fancy coloured diamonds. Recently a, 18.2 ct D-flawless diamond was discovered in the Cape Mount County which is adjacent to Safa Afrique mining project. The diamond is a Type II (which attract top-dollar prices), the first to be reported from Liberia, and the first from a 10-m-wide kimberlite dyke.
Type II diamonds are extremely rare as only 2% of all gem quality diamonds in the world are of Type IIa quality.
Stellar completed a 100,000 tonne trial mining exercise at Baouléin June 2016 from which total sales generated equalled US$1,228,000. It is anticipated that a further 50,000 tonnes of kimberlite will be mined and processed in order to determine with more accuracy the diamond grade and value of the east lobe. At the current +1.25mm grade of 13.3cpht this could yield up to a further 6,600 carats for sale. Previous sales from the east lobe achieved US$156 per carat.

In February 2016, Stellar was awarded two licenses covering a total area of 670.54 square kilometres in the west of Liberia, around the key diamond area of Kumgbo towards the border with Sierra Leone a place known particularly for its fancy coloured and rare diamonds. Stellar had previously conducted reconnaissance stream sampling in the region in 2006/7, which returned positive results with some samples yielding abundant kimberlitic ilmenite, suggesting proximal kimberlite sources—the most important source of mined diamonds today.

Headquartered in the UK with operations in Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa, Citigate International is trade regulated by Dubai Diamond Exchange and deals in diverse commodities across the globe.  It also specialises in the supply of raw commodities, gold and diamonds in particular, to manufacturing and retail groups.
