In their initiative to fight hunger during the holy month by going into partnership with the prestigious Egyptian Food Bank (Bank El-Ta’aam), Careem created a special car-type on their application that allowed riders to donate EGP 10 to the cause with every trip.

Now, as Ramadan ends, we have had over 9,500 rides, and raised more than EGP 105,000. I want everyone to know that through the money they raised, they’ve taken part in feeding nearly 1000 people during this holy month,” says Careem’s General Manager, Hadeer Shalaby.

“The money donated by Careem’s clients through each trip has gone directly into the LE 90 packages prepared and distributed by the Egyptian Food Bank,” said Shalaby, “The more rides people took with Careem, the more donations they made, and the more families they have fed. It’s all about our riders - we have  depend on their generosity to make this initiative work.”

Ahmed Youssef, Careem’s Marketing Manager, explains that generosity is embedded deep into the company’s philosophy, and their partnership with the Egyptian Food Bank is a part of their CSR program to help and contribute to the society in which it operates. Fortinet Achieves 99.9% Security Effectiveness Score In NSS Labs Data Center IPS Test

Fortinet Earns Recommendation from NSS Labs for Highly Effective Security and Total Cost of Ownership in the Data Center

Dubai, UAE. – July 12 , 2016

News Summary:
Fortinet (NASDAQ: FTNT), the global leader in high-performance cyber security solutions, today announced the results of NSS Labs’ recent Data Center Intrusion Prevention System (DCIPS) report. NSS Lab’s DCIPS report is the industry’s most comprehensive test to date with their Security Value Map revealing that Fortinet’s FortiGate 3000D earned the highest ratings for Security Effectiveness, blocking 99.9 percent of exploits, and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) per protected Mbps (Megabit per second).

  • Security Effectiveness: Fortinet achieved a near-perfect security effectiveness score of 99.9 percent. Not only did Fortinet perform outstandingly in overall security, but also in detecting almost decade-old exploits, while protecting against more sophisticated attacks that leverage obfuscation and evasion techniques.
  • Real-World Performance: The FortiGate 3000D excelled in performance by handling data center traffic under a continuous heavy load on the IPS inspection process. The FortiGate 3000D readily handles traffic for potentially hundreds of thousands of users who require access to enterprise resources inside the network perimeter. With the FortiGate 3000D, organizations can handle exponentially increasing traffic inspection in their data center without worrying about congesting networks or that application access will be adversely affected.
  • Value: NSS Labs leverages a formula that includes security effectiveness, tested performance, and finally cost to determine the true value of a DCIPS. This formula is represented in NSS Labs’ Security Value Map, in which Fortinet was again pronounced a leader in TCO based on the company’s legendary performance, and cost effective security offerings.

Fortinet Excels in All Categories
NSS Labs conducts regular testing of the top DCIPS vendors, subjecting competitive solutions to strenuous, real-world scenarios that test security effectiveness, network performance, and TCO. These results are used to generate their Security Value Map (SVM) and Comparative Reports.

FortiGate 3000D DCIPS was put to the test against competing solutions, proving to be capable of thwarting 100 percent of all evasion techniques, as well as receiving a score of 100 percent for reliability and stability. The FortiGate 3000D demonstrated consistent leadership in security effectiveness, network performance, and value, earning NSS Labs’ coveted Recommended rating.

A Recommended Security Fabric
This recent recommendation is one of many for Fortinet, demonstrating Fortinet’s commitment to products that excel even when subject to stringent third party testing. Fortinet has also received NSS Labs recommendations for their FortiSandbox Breach Detection System (BDS), FortiGuard Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), FortiClient Endpoint Protection, and FortiWeb Web Application Firewalls (WAF), among others. This ensures that Fortinet customers can implement the very best security fabric from the endpoint to the cloud and everything in between.

Post-Brexit world will only be disastrous if we let it

Opportunities bring optimism, says LBS expert

Dubai, UAE, 10 July, 2016 – Low taxes, low regulation and skilled labour will ensure the UK retains its position as an attractive business and financial centre in a post-Brexit world, according to a London Business School expert.
Alex Edmans, Professor of Finance, London Business School, argues that while uncertainty reigns, there are rational reasons to be optimistic.
“Firms invest in the UK for many reasons. London is uniquely attractive due to the English language, low taxes, low regulation, skilled labour and expertise in accounting and law,” explains Professor Edmans.
The immediate downturn in the stock market was triggered largely by uncertainty about what lies next, believes Professor Edmans, rather than the conviction that a post-Brexit world will lead to disaster.
“Negativity is self-fulfilling, but so is positivity,” says Professor Edmans. “Many patients beat illnesses because of a positive mind-set. Leicester City or Iceland punch way above their weight due to self-belief. It’s the same with the economy.”
What John Maynard Keynes referred to as “animal spirits”, others label as “business confidence” according to Professor Edmans.
“If companies stop investing, if skilled workers emigrate, if consumers stop spending, then we will indeed have a nightmare scenario – but brought on by our own doing, not by Brexit.”
Under World Trade Organization rules, the UK has “most favoured nation” status with the EU and is, therefore, entitled to the best deal that the EU gives to any other country. With two years to negotiate a trade deal, the UK will continue to benefit from the Single Market until a new deal is agreed, says Professor Edmans.

“There will not be a sudden impact on trade. Additionally, the UK can start negotiating trade deals with many countries which the EU never had trade deals with.”
