Mövenpick Hotel Riyadh has opened its doors, marking the hospitality firm’s first property in the Saudi capital and its 10th in the kingdom.

Dubai (United Arab Emirates), 31 August 2015: The brand new Mövenpick Hotel Riyadh is officially open, marking the debut of the Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts brand in Saudi Arabia’s dynamic capital city.

The hotly anticipated five-star property, the result of a SAR 800 million (US$213.2 million) investment, features 438 luxury rooms and suites and commands a prime location, based in the business district on King Fahad Road opposite the Ministry of Interior and just 30 minutes from Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport.

GCC undergoing one of the world’s biggest infrastructure transformations

Massive investment in transforming infrastructure projects across the GCC is attracting some of the world’s biggest names in construction, according to the man behind two of the region’s leading construction events.

“More than US$193 billion in construction contracts were expected to be awarded in 2015 alone,” said Nathan Waugh, Portfolio Director at dmg events. “We are well on track to meet or even exceed this figure.”

In a report by BMI Research, Qatar offers the highest investment ratio of 17.5; the ratio is calculated by dividing total value of the construction project pipeline with total construction industry value. While the UAE is a firm favourite with global construction firms in the run up to the Expo 2020 event.

Meanwhile, the Etihad Railway and regional Gulf Railway networks top the bill in terms of projects. Contracts for the 628 kilometre Etihad Rail Stage 2 are due to be awarded in 2015 and 2016, and are part of the US$11 billion Etihad rail project.

These investments are reflected across all sectors of construction. In response to the booming regional construction market, the biggest names in the construction machinery sector will be at PMV Live this year where MAN Truck and Bus has chosen the event to celebrate its 100 year anniversary.

“This is a fantastic testament to the importance big global companies attach to events like PMV Live and the connections it helps them to create within the region,” said Waugh.

ستشهد صناعة المقاولات في دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي زيادة في قيمتها بالرغم من الانخفاض الطفيف في القيمة الاجمالية للعقود التي تمت ترسيتها هذا العام، وذلك وفقاً لتصريحات المسؤول الأول عن أكبر حدث في المنطقة في مجال المقاولات.

آندي وايت هو نائب رئيس "دي إم جي إيفنتس" في الشرق الأوسط، وهي الشركة المسؤولة عن المعرض الدولي للبناء والأعمال الإنشائية (الخمسة الكبار)، والذي سيجري في شهر نوفمبر. إن المعرض الذي يقام في مركز التجارة العالمي في دبي هو الأكبر والأشهر من نوعه في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، ودائماً ما يجتذب آلاف المشاركين. في العام الماضي، شهد المعرض مشاركات من أكثر من 80 ألف جهة عارضة من 147 دولة.

 

واستناداً إلى تقرير نشره موقع (فينشر أون سايت) معرض الخمسة الكبار (بيج فايف)، صرّح وايت قائلاً: "إن معرض (بيج فايف) في دبي يسلط الضوء على الموردين للمنطقة من مختلف أنحاء العالم. وستظل مشروعات البينة التحتية الكبيرة في المملكة العربية السعودية والإمارات العربية المتحدة هي القوة الدافعة لتنويع الأنشطة، ولكن ما شهدناه أيضاً هو وجود استثمارات واسعة النطاق يجري تنفيذها في عمان والكويت وقطر والبحرين".

التقرير الذي يحمل اسم (صناعة الإنشاءات في مجلس التعاون الخليجي – التوجهات والتحديات لعام 2015) يقول إن قيمة العقود هذا العام في دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي يمكن أن تصل إلى 194 مليار دولار، وهو ما يقل بملياري دولار عن العام السابق، لكن أسعار النفط المنخفضة ستنعكس انخفاضاً في تكلفة مواد البناء والنقل، وهو ما سينعكس في قيم العقود.

واستطرد هوايت: "لقد قيل الكثير عن الآثار المحتملة لأسعار النفط في أسواق الإنشاءات، إلا أن جميع دول مجلس التعاون واصلت ضخ الاستثمارات في قطاعات الإنشاءات والإسكان والرعاية الطبية. على سبيل المثال، ضاعفت دولة الكويت قيمة العقود فيها أكثر حتى ثلاث مرات هذا العام، كما أن الحكومة السعودية أوضحت بجلاء عزمها على مواصلة الاستثمار، إضافة إلى كشف دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة عن المزيد من المشروعات المزدهرة. علاوة على ذلك، أعلنت الأمانة العامة لمجلس التعاون الخليجي أن شبكة السكك الحديدية الخليجية تسير وفقاً للمواعيد المحددة، وأنها تمضي قدماً في الطريق المرسوم لموعد التسليم في عام 2018".

وفي إطار الاستعداد لتلبية الزيادة المطردة في الطلب على المعدات ومواد البناء والخبرة المعتمدة، فإن معرض الخمسة الكبار سيشهد زيادة في حجمه مرة أخرى عام 2015. فهذا العام سيملأ المعرض كامل مساحة القاعة الجديدة في مركز التجارة العالمي، وذلك بقسم يُطلق عليه اسم (بيج فايف فوكاس).

وأضاف هوايت: "إن معرض بيج فايف هو ملتقى عالمي لقطاع الإنشاءات، كما أن بيج فايف فوكاس قد صُمِّم لتسهيل العثور على المنتجات المعتمدة المتوفرة محلياً".

وعلى غرار السنوات السابقة، فإن معرضين رئيسيين سيقامان في نفس الموقع خلال معرض بيج فايف، ألا وهما معرض الشرق الأوسط للخرسانة 2015 (ميدل إيست كونكريت 2015)، ومعرض (بي إم في لايف 2015)، وهو المخصص لعرض كل المصانع والآليات والمركبات الميكانيكية المستخدمة في الإنشاءات.

وصرح ناتان ووه، مدير فعاليات دي إم جي لكلا المعرضين، قائلاً: "إن حجم السوق العالمية لمعدات الإنشاءات من المتوقع أن يصل إلى 241 مليار دولار بحلول عام 2020، كما أن النمو في منطقة الشرق الأوسط يمثل شطراً كبيراً من هذا الرقم. وفي ضوء حقيقة أن 36,000 زائر دولي زاروا معرض الخرسانة في الشرق الأوسط ومعرض بي إم في لايف العام الماضي، فإننا سعداء بأن تتاح لنا فرصة العمل مع العارضين لإنجاح مجموعة واسعة النطاق من المركبات والمعدات الثقيلة والخرسانات".

Sandvik Materials Technology Awarded Two Key Orders for Control Lines in the Middle East

Major packages of control line and chemical injection tubing secured

UAE – 31 August 2015: Sandvik Materials Technology, a division within the Sandvik Group, developer and producer of advanced stainless steels, special alloys, titanium and other high-performance materials, has been awarded two important contracts for control lines for the oil and gas industry in the Middle East.

The first contract is with a new customer, an oil producer based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to supply a complete package of materials. The package includes control line tubing and clamps manufactured by Downhole Products – a Varel International company, owned by Sandvik. Improvements in the technology for the enhanced exploration of oil and gas fields have increasingly required the use of long continuous lengths of stainless steel and nickel alloy tubing for hydraulic control, chemical injection, umbilical and flowline control applications. Control lines are coiled tubing wound on reels, which are combined with accessories that together help in controlling the flow of oil in offshore oil wells. The order of high-alloyed material for application in sour wells will be delivered in the third quarter of this year.

The second contract with a top service company in Abu Dhabi is a major package for chemical injection applications for use on the Umm Lulu and Al Nasr oil fields in the UAE. The Umm Lulu and Al Nasr fields are located 30 km and 130km northwest of Abu Dhabi. They respectively produce approximately 100,000 and 22,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Delivery for this contract is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2015. Sandvik supplies coiled tubing for control lines and chemical injection lines, either as bare coils or in flatpacks, as per customer requirements. As control lines are often exposed to corrosive well fluids, Sandvik produces them in a wide range of corrosion-resistant alloys.

Cultural Customs: Kyoto Releases Clever Infographic For Travellers

From not cycling under the influence to remembering to queue in an orderly fashion, Kyoto Convention & Visitors Bureau teaches visitors the polite ‘do’s and don’ts’ on a visit to the city

31 August 2015 – Thousands of tourists visit Kyoto each year in search of authentic Japanese historic past and local traditions. To avoid those ‘lost in translation’ cultural faux pas and raise awareness of the differences in cultures, Kyoto Convention & Visitors Bureau has released an infographic outlining the ‘akimahen’, or the ‘do’s and don’ts’ for a visit to the beautiful city.

The ‘Kyoto-ites’ have been released in partnership with TripAdvisor and outline 18 of the major customs in Japan’s former capital, with the help of a three-stage emoji guide, which indicates on a scale of one to three how offensive certain behaviour can be.

As outlined by the red-faced tourist in the infographic, the worst cultural offence is cycling through Kyoto under the influence of alcohol. Regulations have recently been tightened, which means anyone caught cycling under the influence could face fines of up to one million Yen (equivalent to AED 3000) or five years in prison.

Meanwhile, tourists can forget the need to tip for good service, and instead can say ‘Okini’, which simply translates as ‘thank you.’ The infographic also outlines the importance of removing your shoes before walking on traditional tatami mats and reminds tourists that taxis in Japan have automatic doors so it’s best to always leave a clear distance to avoid being hit by the taxi doors.

وفي الوقت نفسة يستطيع السياح قول كلمة "أوكيني" التي تعني شكراً لك بدلا من دفع عمولة  جراء خدمات معينة،ويوضح الانفوجرافيك أهمية حمل الحذاء الشخصي أثناء المشي على الحصير التراثي هنالك،كما ويذكرهم بأن تكاسي الأجرة في اليابان لها أبواب أوتوماتيكية لذلك من الأفضل ترك مسافة واضحة لتجنب التعرض لأي أذى .
