The Portail des Nations: A New Chapter for Multilateralism in Geneva

 

 

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 30 September 2025: The Portail des Nations, the future visitors’ centre of the United Nations in Geneva, will welcome the public from March 2026. Situated at the entrance to the Palais des Nations, this pioneering facility is designed to immerse visitors in the world of multilateral diplomacy and shed light on the essential work of the United Nations. More than a visitors’ centre, the Portail des Nations is conceived as a gateway to the world and to the pressing issues of our time. Through innovative technologies and carefully curated experiences, it will offer a space for learning, dialogue and civic engagement, connecting the global community to the UN’s mission of collective action.

The project was born of the vision of Ivan Pictet, who initiated the Portail des Nations in response to the call of António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, to make multilateralism accessible to all. It reflects the conviction that, in a world confronted with increasingly complex challenges, international cooperation is not an option but a necessity.

Established in 2019, the Fondation Portail des Nations has been entrusted with bringing this vision to life. Founded by Ivan Pictet, the organisation is dedicated to promoting multilateralism and highlighting the vital role of the United Nations in Geneva. Entirely financed through private donations, the Foundation’s mission has been to construct, on behalf of UN Geneva, a facility dedicated to welcoming visitors to the Palais des Nations, and to create the immersive Portail des Nations experience that will launch in March 2026. The Foundation will operate this new space on behalf of UN Geneva until December 2027.

The Fondation Portail des Nations has expressed its gratitude to the many contributors who have made this ambitious undertaking possible. Ivan Pictet himself has acted as the principal donor. The Hans Wilsdorf Foundation and the Loterie Romande have supported the building, its design and its equipment, all of which will be donated to the United Nations. The Dona Bertarelli Philanthropic Foundation has contributed significantly to the development of the immersive experience, while the Swiss Confederation, the Republic and Canton of Geneva, and the City of Geneva have provided crucial support in the initial operational phase.

At its heart, the Portail des Nations celebrates multilateralism. This concept, often invoked yet not always fully understood, refers to the cooperation of multiple actors working together to resolve challenges that no single country could address alone. It is a tool of diplomacy, but also a mindset, rooted in the belief that “together, we are stronger”. In Geneva, where so many international agreements are debated and decided, multilateralism takes concrete form in countless ways – from global health standards and environmental frameworks to labour conventions and innovations in technology.

The Portail des Nations will serve as a powerful reminder of this work, enabling up to 200,000 visitors each year to experience the importance of multilateral diplomacy in shaping our shared future. Designed as a contemporary educational tool, the centre will provide a two-hour journey into the world of international cooperation. Available in eight languages – French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabic – the experience will be accessible to a global audience.

Located at the Avenue de la Paix entrance to the Palais des Nations, the centre will open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. Tickets will be available exclusively online from Autumn 2025. Easily accessible by tram, bus, train and car, the Portail des Nations is set to become a landmark destination for visitors to Geneva, offering a rare opportunity to engage with the workings of the United Nations in one of the world’s great capitals of diplomacy and humanitarian action.

بوابة الأمم: فصل جديد في مسار تعدديّة الأطراف بجنيف

  

دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 30 سبتمبر 2025: تستعدّ بوابة الأمم لاستقبال الجمهور اعتباراً من مارس 2026، وستكون بمثابة مركز رائد للزوّار في قلب مكتب الأمم المتحدة بجنيف. يقع هذا الصرح عند مدخل قصر الأمم، وقد صُمّم ليقدّم لزوّاره تجربة استثنائية تُعرّفهم إلى عالم الدبلوماسية متعددة الأطراف وتُبرز الدور الجوهري الذي تؤدّيه منظّمة الأمم المتّحدة على الساحة الدولية. ولا يقتصر دوره على مركزٍ للزوّار، إنّما شُيّد ليكون بوابةً إلى عصرنا اليوم وما فيه من قضايا ملحّة. من هذا المنطلق، تجمع بوابة الأمم ما بين التقنيات المبتكرة والتجارب المصمّمة بعناية، فتُشكّل مساحة للتعلّم والحوار والمشاركة المجتمعية، تربط المجتمع الدولي برسالة منظّمة الأمم المتحدة المتمحورة حول التضامن والعمل المشترك.

 

 

انبثق هذا المشروع من رؤية إيفان بيكتيه الذي أطلق مبادرة بوابة الأمم استجابةً لدعوة الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش إلى جعل تعدديّة الأطراف في متناول الجميع. ويجسّد قناعة راسخة بأنّ التعاون الدولي، في عالم يشهد تحديات أكثر تعقيداً وصعوبةً، لم يعد مجرّد خيار بل ضرورة حتمية.

 

أبصرت مؤسّسة بوابة الأمم النور عام 2019 على يد إيفان بيكتيه من أجل تحويل هذه الرؤية إلى واقع ملموس. وتصبو إلى تعزيز تعدّدية الأطراف وإلقاء الضوء على الدور الجوهري الذي يؤديه مكتب الأمم المتحدة في جنيف. وبتمويل قائم كلياً على تبرّعات خاصة، أوكلت إلى المؤسسة مهمّة إنشاء مرفق مخصّص لاستقبال الزوّار عند قصر الأمم بالنيابة عن مكتب الأمم المتحدة بجنيف، وتصميم تجربة بوابة الأمم التفاعلية التي يُرتقب إطلاقها في مارس 2026. كما ستدير المؤسسة هذا المركز الجديد نيابةً عن المكتب لغاية شهر ديسمبر من العام 2027.

 

أعربت مؤسسة بوابة الأمم عن امتنانها العميق لكلّ من ساهم في إنجاز هذا المشروع الطموح، وفي مقدّمتهم إيفان بيكتيه بصفته المتبرّع الرئيسي. كما قدّمت مؤسستا هانس ويلدسورف ولوتوري روماند دعمهما لبناء المركز وتصميمه وتجهيزه، على شكل تبرّع لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة. كذلك، ساهمت مؤسسة دونا بيرتاريلي للأعمال الخيرية بشكل بارز في تطوير التجربة التفاعلية، فيما قدّم كلّ من الاتحاد السويسري، وجمهورية وكانتون جنيف، ومدينة جنيف، دعماً أساسياً للمشروع في مرحلته التشغيلية الأولى.

 

في جوهرها، تحتفي بوابة الأمم بمفهوم تعددية الأطراف. تجدر الإشارة إلى أنّ هذا المفهوم كثير التداول، لكن معناه الحقيقي غالباً ما يُغفل؛ فهو يقوم على تعاون أطراف متعددة لمواجهة تحديات يستحيل على أي دولة التصدي لها بمفردها. فتعدّدية الأطراف ليست إذاً مجرد أداة دبلوماسية، بل هي نهج وفكر قائم على إيمان راسخ بأن القوة تكمن في الوحدة. وفي جنيف، حيث تُناقش الدول وتعتمد أبرز الاتفاقيات الدولية، تتجلّى تعدّدية الأطراف بأشكال ملموسة ومتنوّعة، من وضع معايير الصحة العالمية وأطُر حماية البيئة، إلى صياغة اتفاقيات العمل والابتكار في مجالات التكنولوجيا.

 

ستكون بوابة الأمم بمثابة تذكير حيّ بأهمية هذا النهج، وستستقبل ما يصل إلى 200 ألف زائر سنوياً ليكتشفوا دور الدبلوماسية متعددة الأطراف في بناء مستقبلنا المشترك. وقد صُمّم المركز ليكون أداة تعليمية حديثة تأخذ الزوّار في رحلة تمتد لساعتين إلى عالم التعاون الدولي. وستتوفر التجربة بثماني لغات – الفرنسية، والإنجليزية، والألمانية، والإيطالية، والإسبانية، والروسية، والصينية والعربية – لتكون في متناول قاعدة جماهيرية عالمية واسعة.

 

يقع المركز عند مدخل قصر الأمم في شارع السلام، وسيفتح أبوابه يومياً من الساعة 10:00 صباحاً حتى 6:00 مساءً، وستُباع التذاكر حصرياً عبر الإنترنت ابتداءً من خريف 2025. يتمتّع المركز بموقع استراتيجي يسهل الوصول إليه على متن الترام والحافلات والقطارات والسيارات، فسيغدو محطة بارزة لزوّار جنيف، إذ يقدّم لهم فرصة نادرة للتعرّف عن كثب إلى آليات عمل منظمة الأمم المتحدة في واحدة من أهم العواصم العالمية للدبلوماسية والعمل الإنساني.

طيران الإمارات تطبّق حظر استخدام وحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة على متن رحلاتها ابتداءً من الغد

 

دبي، 30 سبتمبر (أيلول) 2025: أعلنت طيران الإمارات عن بدء سريان حظر استخدام أي نوع من وحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة (الباور بنك) على متن رحلاتها  اعتباراً من الغد، 1 أكتوبر (تشرين الأول) 2025. وتوفر طيران الإمارات منافذ شحن في المقاعد على جميع طائراتها، إلا أنها توصي عملاءها بشحن أجهزتهم بالكامل قبل السفر، خاصة في الرحلات الطويلة.   وتعتبر وحدة شحن الأجهزة المحمولة (الباور بنك) جهازاً قابلاً لإعادة الشحن، ويُستخدم لتزويد الأجهزة الإلكترونية الأخرى مثل الهواتف الذكية والأجهزة اللوحية وأجهزة الكمبيوتر المحمولة والكاميرات بالطاقة. ويُسمح لعملاء طيران الإمارات حمل وحدة شحن واحدة فقط على متن الطائرة، وفقاً لشروط محددة، ولكن يُحظر استخدامها داخل مقصورة الطائرة، سواء لشحن الأجهزة منها أو لإعادة شحنها باستخدام مصادر الطاقة في الطائرة.   وتشمل لوائح طيران الإمارات الخاصة وحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة على متن الطائرة:   ·       يمكن للعملاء حمل وحدة شحن واحدة فقط تقل سعتها عن 100 واط/ساعة.   ·       يُحظر استخدام وحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة لشحن أي جهاز شخصي على متن الطائرة.   ·       يُحظر توصيل وحدات الشحن بمصادر الطاقة داخل الطائرة لشحنها.   ·       يجب أن تتضمن كل وحدة شحن يتم قبولها معلومات واضحة عن سعتها الكهربائية.   ·       يُحظر وضع وحدات الشحن المحمولة في الخزائن العلوية داخل المقصورة، ويجب وضعها في جيب المقعد أو في حقيبة تحت المقعد الأمامي.   ·       يُحظر وضع وحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة في الأمتعة المسجلة، وفقاً للإجراء المعتمد حالياً.   لماذا تجري طيران الإمارات هذه التعديلات؟   بعد مراجعة شاملة لإجراءات السلامة، تتخذ طيران الإمارات موقفاً حازماً واستباقياً للحد من المخاطر المتعلقة بوحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة على متن الطائرة. فقد شهدت الأعوام الأخيرة زيادة كبيرة في استخدام المسافرين لهذه الأجهزة، ما أدى إلى ارتفاع عدد الحوادث المرتبطة ببطاريات الليثيوم في قطاع الطيران بشكل عام.   وتعمل وحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة أساساً ببطاريات ليثيوم أيون أو ليثيوم بوليمر، وهي عبارة عن بطاريات قابلة لإعادة الشحن مصممة لتغذية الأجهزة أثناء التنقل. وتحتوي هذه البطاريات على أيونات ليثيوم معلّقة في محلول إلكتروليتي، وتتحرك هذه الأيونات ذهاباً وإياباً بين القطبين خلال عملية الشحن والتفريغ. وفي حال تعرض البطارية للشحن الزائد أو التلف، قد يحدث ما يُعرف بـ"الانفلات الحراري"، وهو تفاعل ذاتي متسارع يؤدي إلى ارتفاع كبير وغير قابل للسيطرة في درجة الحرارة، وقد يتسبب في نشوب حرائق أو انفجارات أو انبعاث غازات سامة.   وبينما تتضمن معظم الهواتف والأجهزة المتقدمة المزودة ببطاريات ليثيوم، أنظمة حماية داخلية لمنع الشحن الزائد، فإن العديد من وحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة منخفضة الجودة لا تحتوي على هذه الخاصية، مما يزيد من مستوى الخطورة. وتخضع جميع وحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة للوائح الجديدة على متن رحلات طيران الإمارات.   وتهدف اللوائح الجديدة التي اعتمدتها طيران الإمارات إلى الحد من هذه المخاطر بشكل كبير من خلال حظر استخدام وحدات شحن الأجهزة المحمولة أثناء التواجد على متن الطائرة. كما أن اشتراط وضع هذه الوحدات في أماكن يسهل الوصول إليها داخل المقصورة يتيح لطاقم الطائرة المدربين التدخل السريع والسيطرة في حال وقوع حريق.   وتُعد السلامة أحد القيم الأساسية لطيران الإمارات، وركيزة رئيسية في جميع عملياتها وممارساتها التشغيلية. وتؤكد الناقلة التزامها بالحفاظ على أعلى مستويات السلامة، وتعزيزها باستمرار، بما يضمن سلامة المسافرين والموظفين في جميع الأوقات.   معلومات أوفى من هنا.
