France's Sustainability Innovations on Display at ADIPEC 2023

EGYPT, 26 September 2023: From October 2 to 5, 39 French firms spanning the oil and gas, petrochemical, and renewables sectors will convene at Abu Dhabi's premier energy event. As the UAE prepares to host COP28, ADIPEC 2023 boldly advances decarbonization across its conference program, innovative exhibition, and new features. Hosted by ADNOC under the theme 'Decarbonising. Faster. Together.', this year's edition serves as a beacon for decarbonization across the energy spectrum, emphasizing emissions reduction and economic growth. The focus will be on securing affordable and eco-friendly energy systems, with dedicated strategy conferences addressing the development of decarbonization policies and the potential of hydrogen energy.

The French Pavilion, organized by Business France in collaboration with TotalEnergies and Evolen and supported by Trouvay & Cauvin, stands ready to showcase French expertise and innovative solutions in the energy sector, to foster valuable partnerships. With COP28 approaching and the global shift towards renewable energy gaining momentum, the French Pavilion spotlights France's sustainable and low-carbon solutions.

Considered as a valued partner of the French Pavilion, Evolen, plays a pivotal role in technology transfer and knowledge exchange within the Middle East's energy sector. Through collaborative initiatives, the organization drives the promotion of energy efficiency and sustainability, reinforcing France's commitment to low-carbon solutions in the region. Another key participant that exemplifies this commitment through active involvement in transformative projects, TotalEnergies, champions renewable energy sources in the region, as seen in the Noor Abu Dhabi Solar Plant, one of the world's largest single-site solar projects. 

Within the French Pavilion, visitors can explore cutting-edge technologies across various domains, including energy management solutions, operational efficiency, electrical systems, gas analysis and monitoring, industrial automation and control software, advanced power electronics, geophysical equipment, and energy storage, aligning with the region’s goals to diversify energy sources and reduce emissions.

Meanwhile, Trouvay & Cauvin act as essential players in the Middle East's energy sector, supplying piping materials and equipment for infrastructure development and energy projects, aligned with the region's energy goals.

As part of the delegation, Veolia Water Systems addresses water decarbonization, leveraging its expertise in water management solutions already implemented in the Middle East. Veolia utilizes digital technologies to reduce the water sector's reliance on fossil fuels, actively working towards creating water resource recovery facilities.

France's commitment to a low-carbon future is evident, with the nation's oil and gas industry shifting towards low-carbon fuels and electrification, supported by the 2019 Energy and Climate Act's net-zero emissions target for 2050. France has led European hydrogen policy development, to tackle deep decarbonization in critical sectors such as refineries, the chemical industry, steel production, and mobility. Under the France 2030 investment plan, 1,9 billion EUR (7,6 Billion AED) are allocated to decarbonized hydrogen technologies, aligning with France's ambition to lead in green hydrogen production and 5,6 billion EUR (22,4 billion AED) to decarbonize the industry. 

These forward-looking initiatives are enhancing France’s expertise that have found fertile ground in the Middle East. In February, during a visit led by Olivier Becht, Minister Delegate in charge of Trade, Attractiveness, and French Citizens Abroad, the UAE and France launched a collaborative program to leverage French and Emirati expertise in accelerating market-ready opportunities in the clean energy sector, with a focus on decarbonizing challenging industries and exploring clean hydrogen solutions for mobility.

في معرض ومؤتمر أبوظبي الدولي للبترول "أديبك 2023"

مصر، 26 سبتمبر 2023: تتحضر 39 شركة فرنسية تعمل في قطاعات النفط والغاز والبتروكيماويات والطاقة المتجددة لتسجيل حضورها في أبوظبي خلال الفترة من 2 إلى 5  أكتوبر المقبل، للمشاركة في فعاليات معرض ومؤتمر أبوظبي الدولي للبترول "أديبك 2023". وبينما تستعد دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة لاستضافة مؤتمر الأطراف (COP28)، سيهدف "أديبك 2023 " إلى دفع الاتجاهات المستقبلية لقطاع الطاقة من خلال تسريع جهود إزالة الكربون والحد من الانبعاثات عبر برنامج مؤتمراته ومعرضه المبتكر وميزاته الجديدة. وتعد نسخة هذا العام، التي تستضيفها شركة بترول أبوظبي الوطنية (أدنوك) تحت شعار "إزالة الكربون أسرع معًا"، بمثابة منارة لإزالة الكربون عبر قطاع الطاقة، مع التركيز على خفض الانبعاثات وتحقيق النمو الاقتصادي. وسينصب التركيز على تأمين أنظمة طاقة ميسورة التكلفة وصديقة للبيئة، عبر مؤتمرات استراتيجية مخصصة تتناول تطوير سياسات إزالة الكربون وإمكانات الطاقة الهيدروجينية.

وسيكون الجناح الفرنسي، الذي تنظمه الوكالة الوطنية لدعم تنمية الاقتصاد الفرنسي دولياً "بيزنس فرانس" بالتعاون مع شركة "توتال إنرجيز" ورابطة إيفولين الفرنسية وبدعم من مجموعة تروفاي وكوفان، على أتم الاستعداد لعرض الخبرة الفرنسية والحلول المبتكرة في قطاع الطاقة، لتعزيز الشراكات القيمة. ومع اقتراب مؤتمر الأطراف (COP28)، واكتساب التحول العالمي نحو الطاقة المتجددة زخماً، يسلط الجناح الفرنسي الضوء على حلول فرنسا المستدامة ومنخفضة الكربون.

Siemens Healthineers opens new premises of “Academy Egypt” to improve educational infrastructure and access to healthcare

 

Since 2018, the Siemens Healthineers “Academy Egypt” has trained more than 1,000 medical professionals and undergraduates across a diverse range of healthcare disciplines

Siemens Healthineers, a leading medical technology company, recently opened new premises of its Siemens Healthineers “Academy Egypt” in Cairo, the first academy to be launched focusing on skill development and improving access to quality healthcare. The opening ceremony was attended by General Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidan, Head of The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement “UPA” as well as leading KOLs from the healthcare sector in Egypt.


Siemens Healthineers Academy Egypt was founded in August 2018 with the objective to provide educational programs and academic courses to healthcare professionals and university students. The academy’s programs are designed to elevate the knowledge and experience of doctors, technicians, and biomedical engineers, powered by state-of-the-art digital educational solutions.

The Egyptian Real Estate Market Emerges as a Regional Powerhouse, with the Success of Real Estate Exports Boosting Foreign Currency Reserves

 "In a Special Session for Prominent Developers and Real Estate Investors at Cityscape Talks During Cityscape Egypt Exhibition 2023

During the Cityscape exhibition, a noteworthy panel session titled "Challenges and Opportunities in the Egyptian Real Estate Market" took center stage. This engaging discussion delved into the future of the real estate sector, addressing its challenges and strategies to transform them into opportunities for success. Additionally, it highlighted the key components and investment prospects in the Egyptian real estate market."

The session was led by Eng. Fathallah Fawzi, who serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at MENA Real Estate Development Consulting Company. It featured the participation of prominent figures in the real estate sector, including Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company; Idris Mohamed, CEO of Akam Al Rajhi Company; Eng. Ahmed Mansour, President and Executive Director of Cred Development; Engineer Ahmed Sabbour, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ahly Sabbour Real Estate Development Company; Engineer Waleed Mokhtar, CEO of Iwan Developments; and Engineer Ayman Amer, General Manager of SODIC.

In the session, Engineer Khaled Abbas, who holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director at the Administrative Capital Company for Urban Development, emphasized that the Egyptian real estate market stands as one of the most robust markets experiencing substantial expansion. He went on to reveal that the Administrative Capital Company had achieved impressive profits in the year 2022, amounting to approximately 20 billion pounds. Furthermore, he articulated the company's ambitious goal of boosting these profits by 25% by the close of 2023, affirming that the company is currently on a positive trajectory toward achieving this target.

Engineer Khaled Abbas further disclosed that in the year 2024, the Administrative Capital Company is planning to provide land parcels to real estate developers with a unique incentive – these lands will be made available through fixed, interest-free installment plans spanning four years. This move is aimed at fostering and encouraging real estate development in the region. Moreover, the company announced an international competition for the planning of the second and third phases of the New Administrative Capital, underscoring the remarkable progress of this urban endeavor. Notably, the New Administrative Capital has already evolved into a thriving reality, accommodating a daily workforce of 45,000 individuals across various government ministries. It serves as the meeting place for the Council of Ministers, and the House of Representatives is set to convene its sessions in its administrative hub.

Engineer Khaled Abbas also highlighted the achievements of the Administrative Capital Company in streamlining processes for developers. He mentioned the company's capability to swiftly issue the required licenses, thanks to the presence of dedicated offices for all relevant authorities. Additionally, he hinted at forthcoming announcements regarding various contributions and initiatives. He emphasized that the Administrative Capital stands as the largest sustainable smart city globally, managed through a state-of-the-art smart control center. This technologically advanced management ensures a high quality of life for its residents, further solidifying its status as a cutting-edge urban development.

In addressing the economic crises affecting the real estate sector due to global challenges and their implications for rising construction costs, Engineer Ayman Amer, who serves as the General Manager of SODIC, underlined SODIC's extensive 26-year presence in the Egyptian market. He emphasized SODIC's commitment to adopting adaptable policies that align with the ever-evolving dynamics of the Egyptian real estate market. This flexibility allows them to respond effectively to the challenges posed by global economic fluctuations and construction cost increases.

Engineer Ayman Amer elaborated on SODIC's approach, stating, "At SODIC, our strategy is forward-looking and extends beyond the current year. This approach mitigates the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on our operations and allows us to adjust unit prices accordingly. Additionally, we have made notable strides in the export of Egyptian real estate by catering to foreign buyers. He further highlighted SODIC's achievements, noting a 16% increase in sales for the current year. The company has set ambitious goals for profit growth by the end of 2023, driven in part by an accelerated construction pace. شهدت فعاليات معرض سيتي سكيب جلسة نقاشية تحت عنوان "التحديات والفرص في السوق العقاري المصري"، لبحث مستقبل القطاع العقاري وما يواجهه من تحديات وسبل تخطيها وتحويلها إلى فرص نجاح، ومناقشة ما يتمتع به السوق العقاري المصري من مقومات وفرص جاذبة للاستثمار.

ترأس الجلسة المهندس/ فتح الله فوزي، رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة مينا لاستشارات التطوير العقاري، وشارك فيها كل من المهندس خالد عباس، رئيس مجلس الإدارة والعضو المنتدب لشركة العاصمة الإدارية للتنمية العمرانية، وإدريس محمد، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة آكام الراجحي، والمهندس أحمد منصور، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة كريد للتطوير، والمهندس أحمد صبور، رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة الأهلي صبور للتنمية العقارية، والمهندس وليد مختار، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة إيوان للتطوير، والمهندس أيمن عامر، المدير العام لشركة سوديك.

أكد المهندس خالد عباس، رئيس مجلس الإدارة والعضو المنتدب لشركة العاصمة الإدارية للتنمية العمرانية، خلال الجلسة أن السوق العقاري المصري من أقوى الأسواق التي تشهد نمواً كبيراً، وأن شركة العاصمة الإدارية حققت أرباح في العام الماضي 2022 نحو 20 مليار جنيه وتستهدف زيادتها بنسبة 25% في نهاية 2023، وأن الشركة تسير بخطوات جيدة.

قال: إن شركة العاصمة الإدارية ستقوم خلال 2024 بطرح أراضي للمطورين العقاريين بأقساط ثابتة دون فوائد على 4 سنوات بما يمثل تحفيزاً للمطورين العقاريين، كما أعلنت الشركة عن مسابقة عالمية لتخطيط المرحلة الثانية والثالثة من العاصمة الإدارية الجديدة، لافتاً إن أن العاصمة الإدارية الجديدة أصبحت واقع حيث تضم 45 ألف موظف يومياً بمختلف الوزارات، ومجلس الوزراء يجتمع بالعاصمة ومجلس النواب ستنعقد جلساته بالعاصمة. 

وأضاف: "نجحنا في تطوير شركة العاصمة الإدارية بما يُمكننا من إصدار كافة التراخيص اللازمة للمطورين من الشركة حيث يوجد لدينا مكاتب لكافة الجهات المختصة، ولدينا مشاركات كثيرة سيعلن عنها في حينها. العاصمة الإدارية أكبر مدينة ذكية مستدامة في العالم فهي تدار بواسطة مركز تحكم ذكي وتوفر جودة الحياة لقاطنيها".

وحول الأزمات الاقتصادية التي يواجهها القطاع العقاري نتيجة التحديات العالمية وأثر ذلك على زيادة تكلفة الإنشاءات، والإجراءات التي تتخذها شركات التطوير العقاري لمواجهة ذلك أكد المهندس أيمن عامر، مدير عام شركة سوديك، أن سوديك تعمل في السوق المصري منذ 26 عاماً وتحرص على اتباع سياسات مرنة تتناسب مع متغيرات السوق العقاري المصري.

وقال: "نتبع في سوديك سياسة تحوطية تتخطى العام وهو ما يجعلنا لا نتأثر كثيراً بتغير سعر الصرف، ويمكننا ذلك أيضاً من زيادة أسعار الوحدات، كما أننا بدأنا تحقيق نجاحات في تصدير العقار المصري من خلال البيع للأجانب، وقد ساعدتنا البنية التحتية المتطورة التي حرصت الدولة على تنفيذها، مشيراً إلى أن مبيعات سوديك هذا العام زادت بنسبة 16% وأن الشركة تستهدف تحقيق نمو كبير في أرباحها بنهاية 2023 خاصة وأن سوديك تحرص على تسريع أعمال الإنشاءات".

وأكد أن مصر دولة كبيرة تتمتع بالعديد من المقومات التي تساعد على جذب المزيد من الاستثمار، وأن نجاح ملف تصدير العقار سيدعم توافر العملة الصعبة، وأن الشركات تواجه تحدياً كبيراً فيما يخص التمويل العقاري وأنه يجب توفير التيسيرات اللازمة لتخطي هذا التحدي".  

قال المهندس وليد مختار، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة إيوان للتطوير: إن السوق العقاري المصري شهد طفرة تنموية كبيرة في ظل التنمية العمرانية التي حرصت الحكومة المصرية على تنفيذها وتطوير البنية التحتية على كافة المستويات في مختلف محافظات الجمهورية واهتمامها بإنشاء المدن الذكية، مؤكداً أهمية التكنولوجيا ودورها الكبير في صناعة العقار، وأن رقمنة العقار وتوفير المعلومات الخاصة بالقطاع العقاري، تساعد بشكل كبير في نمو أعمال شركات السوق العقاري المصري، مما يعمل على زيادة الناتج العقاري ويدعم الاقتصاد المصري.

وأكد المهندس أحمد صبور، رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة الأهلي صبور للتنمية العقارية، أن نجاح المطور العقاري يمثل نجاحاً للاقتصاد الوطني بشكل عام. وقال: "رغم ما تم من تيسيرات كبيرة للقطاع الا اننا في حاجة الى المزيد من التيسيرات لتحقيق المزيد من النجاح".

وأشار أحمد منصور، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة كريد للتطوير، أن السوق العقاري المصري يتمتع بطلب متزايد بما يؤكد قوة القطاع وقدرته على تخطي كافة التحديات، وهو ما حدث خلال الفترة الماضية التي تم خلالها تجاوز كافة التحديات التي فرضتها الظروف التي عانى منها العالم اجمع.

وأوضح إدريس محمد، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة آكام الراجحي، أن العقار المصري قادر على المنافسة عالمياً، لتحقيقه عوائد مرتفعة وعالية، مما يمكن صناديق الاستثمار العقارية من تحقيق مكاسب كبيرة، ويجعل مصر نقطة جذب للاستثمار بها، لذلك لابد أن يكون العقار المصري على قدر المساواة مع أي عقار عالمي في أوروبا وآسيا وجميع مناطق العالم.

CNN Academy Abu Dhabi opens with climate masterclass

 

 

 

27^th September, 2023 - CNN Academy Abu Dhabi welcomed its third cohort of students on Friday 22^nd September, leading with a climate reporting masterclass from Chief Climate Correspondent, Bill Weir moderated by Becky Anderson, Managing Editor, CNN Abu Dhabi, and Anchor. 

 

The interactive session, hosted at the Yas Creative Hub, explored how to engage audiences, the importance of science, informing people about solutions to environmental challenges, and looking ahead to COP 28. It marked the beginning of a 12-week journalism training course, which will have an emphasis on climate storytelling and provide unrivalled access to experts from the world’s leading news organisation. 

 

To date, 46 participants have been trained through CNN Academy Abu Dhabi, including 22 Emiratis.

The latest group of 30 participants for CNN Academy Abu Dhabi includes 16 Emiratis and 14 UAE residents from 12 different countries, including Egypt, France, India and Syria.  They will join weekly live workshops from CNN Abu Dhabi staff plus weekly masterclasses delivered by professionals around the world.  These will be hosted at The Community Hub, part of twofour54’s Yas Creative Hub in Abu Dhabi, which is adjacent to the CNN bureau.

 

The Academicians will have access to extensive media technology facilities, equipment, infrastructure and student liaison support from the creative lab, part of the talent development division of Creative Media Authority and Abu Dhabi’s content champion. Digital learning will also take place via the custom-built CNN Academy hub, which features a wealth of learning resources created by CNN’s global anchors, reporters, production, and technical teams.  The extensive course will equip the aspiring journalists and content creators with valuable media industry skills.

 

The programme will culminate in the second annual CNN Academy Newsroom Simulation.  This will be held this year against the backdrop of COP 28, from December 3^rd to 10^th, where the participants from the CNN Academy Abu Dhabi group will also be joined by participants from other CNN Academy programmes taking place across the globe.
