HE Al Zeyoudi Experiences Etihad Rail’s Passenger Service Ahead of 2026 Launch
- The Etihad Rail project will connect 11 cities and regions, from Al Sila to Fujairah, with passenger numbers projected to reach 36.5 million annually by 2030.

Abu Dhabi, UAE – October 8th, 2025 – His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, joined the CEO of Etihad Rail, His Excellency Shadi Malak, and a senior delegation of UAE officials for a pre-launch journey on Etihad Rail’s passenger service, which is due to commence commercial operations in 2026. The trip took the delegation along the first phase of the service, a journey from Al Qudra in Dubai to Fujairah.
In conjunction with its freight capabilities, which will move in excess of 60 million tons annually by 2030, the passenger service will be an integral part of the UAE’s integrated transport network, enhancing mobility, empowering communities and supporting industries across the country.
HE Al Zeyoudi emphasized the significant role that the Etihad Rail project will play in transforming the mobility of passengers and freight across the country. “The launch of Etihad Rail’s passenger services will represent a critical step in our efforts to expand and upgrade the UAE’s transport network. This landmark infrastructure project is already expediting the movement of goods and materials between industrial zones, ports and transport hubs, and will now also provide passenger services to enable greater connectivity for our population and, in doing so, support sustainable economic development and reduce harmful emissions.

Once operational, Etihad Rail’s passenger service will connect 11 cities from Al Sila in the far west of the country to Fujairah, on the UAE’s east coast, improving access between key destinations and reducing traffic congestion. Each train is expected to accommodate up to 400 passengers, with passenger numbers projected to reach 36.5 million annually by 2030.
As preparations continue for the official launch next year, the project underscores the UAE's commitment to investing in innovative infrastructure that enhances connectivity and drives regional integration, while also advancing the UAE’s drive towards net zero emissions by 2050.
The Etihad Rail network spans 900 kilometers across the emirates, connecting Ghuwaifat to Fujairah. It is essential in serving key ports, including Khalifa Port, Jebel Ali Port, and Ruwais Port, facilitating the efficient movement of goods and materials from main entry points to industrial zones and enabling the transportation of manufacturing output to crucial nodes on global supply chains. With a projected annual capacity of 60 million tons by 2030, the rail system has already transformed local freight logistics and significantly enhanced the UAE's trade capabilities.

خلال رحلة تجريبية لخدمة الركاب من القدرة إلى الفجيرة
ثاني الزيودي: قطار الاتحاد يرسخ مكانة الدولة مركزاً لوجستياً عالمياً.. ويعزز مكانتها على خريطة التجارة الدولية بوابةً لتسهيل تدفقات السلع والخدمات في المنطقة
أبوظبي، 8 أكتوبر 2025: أكد معالي الدكتور ثاني بن أحمد الزيودي وزير التجارة الخارجية أن مشروع قطار الاتحاد يساهم في ترسيخ مكانة دولة الإمارات مركزاً لوجستياً عالمياً، كما يعزز موقعها على خريطة التجارة العالمية بوابة لتسهيل تدفق تجارة السلع والخدمات في المنطقة، بفضل ما يوفره من ربط حيوي بين موانئ الدولة ومناطقها الصناعية ومناطقها الحرة.
جاء ذلك خلال الرحلة التجريبية لخدمة الركاب التي قام بها معالي الزيودي على متن قطار الاتحاد من منطقة القدرة في دبي إلى الفجيرة، يرافقه سعادة شادي ملك الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة قطارات الاتحاد وفريق العمل.
وبالتوازي مع قدراته في مجال الشحن، التي ستتجاوز 60 مليون طن سنوياً بحلول عام 2030، ستشكل خدمة الركاب والتي ستباشر عملياتها التجارية في عام 2026 جزءاً أساسياً من شبكة النقل المتكاملة في دولة الإمارات، بما يعزز سهولة التنقل، ويخدم القطاعات الاقتصادية بما فيها قطاع الخدمات في مختلف أنحاء الدولة.
وأكد معالي الدكتور ثاني الزيودي على الدور المحوري الذي سيلعبه مشروع قطار الاتحاد في إحداث نقلة نوعية بحركة البضائع والأفراد وتجارة الخدمات في الدولة.
وقال: "سيمثل إطلاق خدمات الركاب في قطار الاتحاد خطوة محورية ضمن جهود توسيع وتطوير شبكة النقل في الدولة، حيث يسهم هذا المشروع الوطني العملاق في تسريع نقل البضائع والركاب بين المناطق الصناعية والموانئ ومراكز النقل، كما سيعزز الترابط بين مناطق الدولة، بما يدعم التنمية الاقتصادية المستدامة ويحد من الانبعاثات الضارة".
وأضاف سعادة شادي ملك، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة قطارات الاتحاد:“سعدنا بزيارة معالي الدكتور ثاني بن أحمد الزيودي واطلاعه على خدمة قطار الركاب التي تمثل مرحلة جديدة في مسيرة قطارات الاتحاد، في ظلّ رؤية قيادتنا الرشيدة، وتحت قيادة سمو الشيخ ذياب بن محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، رئيس مجلس إدارة الشركة. ويجسّد هذا المشروع التزام قطارات الاتحاد بالمضي قدمًا في تطوير منظومة نقل متكاملة تعزز الترابط بين إمارات الدولة، وتدعم مسيرة التحول نحو مستقبل أكثر استدامة وكفاءة في التنقل.”
وبمجرد تشغيلها، ستربط خدمة الركاب في قطار الاتحاد 11 مدينة من السلع في أقصى غرب الدولة وصولاً إلى الفجيرة على الساحل الشرقي، مما سيحسّن الوصول بين الوجهات الرئيسية ويخفف الحركة المرورية على الطرق الرئيسية. ومن المتوقع أن يستوعب كل قطار ما يصل إلى 400 راكب، مع وصول عدد الركاب إلى 36.5 مليون راكب سنوياً بحلول عام 2030.
وفي حين تستمر الاستعدادات لإطلاق الخدمة رسمياً العام المقبل، يعكس المشروع التزام دولة الإمارات بالاستثمار في البنية التحتية التي تعزز الترابط وتدفع عجلة التكامل الإقليمي، إلى جانب دعم مساعي الدولة نحو تحقيق الحياد الكربوني بحلول عام 2050.
وتمتد شبكة قطار الاتحاد لمسافة 900 كيلومتر تغطي مختلف مناطق الدولة، وتربط الغويفات بالفجيرة، كما لها دور محوري في خدمة الموانئ الرئيسية، بما في ذلك ميناء خليفة، وميناء جبل علي، وميناء الرويس، عبر تسهيل حركة البضائع بكفاءة من نقاط الدخول الرئيسية إلى المناطق الصناعية، وتمكين نقل الإنتاج الصناعي إلى العُقد الأساسية في سلاسل التوريد العالمية. وبقدرة سنوية متوقعة تبلغ 60 مليون طن بحلول عام 2030، وسيحدث نظام السكك الحديدية نقلة لوجستية نوعية في قطاع الشحن المحلي، ويعزز بشكل كبير القدرات الواعدة للدولة في مجالي تجارة السلع والخدمات.
