UAE-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement Enters into Force

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 1st October, 2025: The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the United Arab Emirates and Australia has officially come into force, heralding a new era of economic collaboration between the two nations. This agreement is expected to unlock new avenues for substantial trade in goods and services, private sector collaboration, and investment opportunities across a wide array of sectors.
With the CEPA now ratified by both sides and officially in force, it is expected to elevate annual bilateral trade from US$4.2 billion in 2024 to over US$10 billion by 2032. In the first half of 2025, the UAE’s non-oil foreign trade with Australia reached US$3.03 billion, a year-on-year increase of 33.4%. The agreement will help boost these numbers by reducing unnecessary barriers to trade, facilitating greater market access for goods and services, and creating a robust framework for investment and collaboration to increase opportunities in priority sectors.
His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, expressed confidence in the agreement's impact, stating, "The entry into force of the UAE-Australia CEPA marks a pivotal step in enhancing our economic partnership and will lead to new pathways for collaboration and growth. This agreement significantly strengthens our trade relations and opens doors for new investment in key sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, food security, and technology."
The UAE is Australia’s leading trade partner in the Middle East and its 20th largest partner globally. The CEPA is Australia’s first trade agreement with a country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. With a combined investment of approximately US$14 billion in each other's economies and 300 Australian companies already operating in the UAE market across various sectors, the potential for substantial growth in economic relations is significant.
The UAE's CEPA program is a cornerstone of its economic strategy, targeting US$1 trillion in total trade value by 2031 and aiming to double the size of the economy to exceed US$800 billion by the same year. The UAE-Australia CEPA is one of 31 agreements concluded to date, enhancing trade relations and expanding access for UAE businesses to key markets around the globe.

أبوظبي، 1 أكتوبر 2025: أعلنت الإمارات وأستراليا دخول اتفاقية الشراكة الاقتصادية الشاملة بين البلدين حيز التنفيذ رسمياً اليوم، بما يمهد لمرحلة جديدة من التعاون الاقتصادي، ويتيح آفاقاً أوسع لتدفقات التجارة في السلع والخدمات، وتعزيز دور القطاع الخاص، وتحفيز الاستثمارات عبر القطاعات ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
ومع بدء تنفيذها، تستهدف الاتفاقية المساهمة في رفع قيمة التجارة البينية غير النفطية من 4.2 مليار دولار أمريكي في عام 2024 إلى أكثر من 10 مليارات دولار سنوياً بحلول عام 2032.
وكانت قيمة التجارة البينية قد واصلت مسارها الصعاد في النصف الأول من عام 2025 مسجلةً 3.03 مليار دولار، بنمو سنوي 33.4%. وستسهم الاتفاقية في تعزيز هذا الزخم عبر تقليل الحواجز غير الضرورية التي تعيق التجارة، وتيسير دخول الأسواق أمام السلع والخدمات، وإرساء إطار متين للاستثمار والتعاون بما يعزز الفرص في القطاعات ذات الأولوية.
وقال معالي الدكتور ثاني بن أحمد الزيودي، وزير التجارة الخارجية: "إن بدء تنفيذ اتفاقية الشراكة الاقتصادية الشاملة بين الإمارات وأستراليا يمثل خطوة محورية لتعميق وتعزيز شراكتنا الاقتصادية، مما سيؤدي إلى فتح مسارات جديدة للتعاون والنمو. كما يعزز هذا الاتفاق علاقاتنا التجارية ويفتح آفاقاً لاستقطاب استثمارات جديدة في قطاعات رئيسية تشمل الطاقة المتجددة، والبنية التحتية، والأمن الغذائي والتكنولوجيا".
وتعد دولة الإمارات الشريك التجاري الأكبر لأستراليا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وتأتي في المرتبة الـ 20 عالمياً. وتمثل هذه الاتفاقية أول اتفاق تجاري لأستراليا مع دولة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا.
ويبلغ حجم الاستثمارات المتبادلة نحو 14 مليار دولار أمريكي، فيما يعمل حوالي 300 شركة أسترالية في السوق الإماراتية ضمن قطاعات متنوعة، بما يعكس قاعدة صلبة للمزيد من النمو في العلاقات الاقتصادية.
ويعد برنامج اتفاقيات الشراكة الاقتصادية الشاملة ركيزة أساسية في الاستراتيجية الاقتصادية لدولة الإمارات، والتي تهدف إلى رفع قيمة تجارتها غير النفطية إلى 4 تريليونات درهم بحلول عام 2031، ومضاعفة حجم الاقتصاد ليتجاوز 800 مليار دولار في العام ذاته. وتأتي الاتفاقية بين الإمارات وأستراليا ضمن 31 اتفاقية تم إنجازها حتى الآن، بما يعزز الروابط التجارية ويوسع وصول الشركات الإماراتية إلى أسواق رئيسية حول العالم.
