Poetry, dancing & food galore honor nation’s identity as it marches towards the future

ALHOSN University celebrated this year’s National Day in advance with various activities on November 27, 2013 at its Female Campus held under the theme of ‘42 Years of Prosperity in the UAE with the Union.’
Among the indoor events prepared were a short lecture on the formation of the Union delivered by Dr. Ahmed Awadi, an Emirati faculty member teaching Emirati Culture at ALHOSN University, a poem recited by the esteemed Emirati poet Dr. Talal Al Junaibi, and a Comedy Show featuring the Emirati comedian Abdulla Al Qassab. Outdoor activities, on the other hand, included ‘Al Yolla,’ the UAE’s traditional folk dance, a short poetry reading by Aysha Al Ali, a comedy show presented by ALHOSN students, a Q&A session on the history and culture of the UAE, visits to a traditional souq set up at the campus grounds, and dinner at the female cafeteria.
University students themselves handled the activities running from 5 to 8 pm. The audience grabbed some Emirati sweets, ‘lgaimat’ (fried dumplings), and ‘mhalla’ and had Emirati coffee. Girls went for special henna tattooing sessions as well.
During the event, the Egyptian Cultural Office represented the Egyptian Embassy in the UAE in honoring H.E. Khalifa Mohamed Rubaya Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ALHOSN University, and H.E. Prof. Dr. Munther Talal Momany, Vice Chancellor and CEO, for their outstanding services as well as the University’s to society. Dr. Adel Nuichi, Head of the Cultural Office, handed them a plaque of appreciation from the Office.

This year we have chosen to focus on the prosperity this great nation has enjoyed for 42 years. Amidst the festivities we will hold meaningful activities that will give Emiratis great pride in their country and in their identity, and we look forward to sharing this joyful occasion with our community, our valued partners and special guests,” said H.E. Prof. Munther Talal Momany, Vice Chancellor and CEO of ALHOSN University.

إقامة فعاليات شعرية وفنية معبرة تعكس هوية الدولة وهي تسير نحو المستقبل

احتفلت جامعة الحصن باليوم الوطني لهذا العام في وقت مبكر من خلال إقامتها لأنشطة مختلفة يوم الأربعاء 27 نوفمبر 2013 في مبنى الطالبات تحت شعار "42 عاماً من الازدهار في الإمارات في ظل الاتحاد".
ومن بين الفعاليات الداخلية كانت هناك محاضرة موجزة حول تشكيل الاتحاد ألقاها الدكتور أحمد العوضي، الأستاذ المعاون في جامعة الحصن، بالإضافة إلى عدد من القصائد للشاعر الإماراتي المعروف الدكتور طلال الجنيبي، وعرض كوميدي للممثل الكوميدي الإماراتي عبد الله القصاب. كما اشتملت الفعاليات على أنشطة أخرى تضمنت الرقصة التراثية الإماراتية "اليولا"، وقراءة شعرية للطالبة عائشة العلي، وعرض كوميدي قدمه طلبة جامعة الحصن، بالإضافة إلى جلسة أسئلة وأجوبة حول تاريخ وثقافة دولة الإمارات وجولات في السوق التراثي الذي أقيم في الجامعة، فضلاً عن تناول العشاء في كافتيريا الحرم الجامعي الخاص بالطالبات.
وقام طلبة الجامعة بإدارة هذه الأنشطة من الساعة 5 وحتى 8 مساءً. كما استمتع الجمهور بتناول الحلويات الإماراتية "اللقيمات" و"المحلى"، بالإضافة إلى القهوة الإماراتية.
كما كرمت السفارة المصرية في الإمارات ممثلة بالمكتب الثقافي المصري كل من سعادة خليفة بن ربيع المهيري رئيس مجلس أمناء الجامعة، وسعادة الأستاذ الدكتور منذر طلال مومني مدير الجامعة نظير ما تقدمه الجامعة من خدمات للمجتمع، حيث قام الدكتور عادل نويشي رئيس المكتب الثقافي بتسليمهما درع المكتب.
وقال سعادة الأستاذ الدكتور منذر مومني، مدير جامعة الحصن: "دائماً ما نقوم بشيئين اثنين خلال اليوم الوطني للدولة، حيث نحتفي بالماضي ونتطلع إلى المستقبل. واخترنا في هذا العام التركيز على ازدهار هذه الدولة العظيمة على مدى 42 عاماً. وفي خضم الاحتفالات قمنا بتقديم أنشطة ذات معنى تتيح للمواطنين الإماراتيين الفخر ببلدهم وهويتهم."
