  • Association highlights franchising as a key enabler of entrepreneurship, SME development and market access

Dubai, UAE – 4 October 2026: The Emirates Franchise Association (EFA) has concluded its participation in Future Food Forum 2026, highlighting the growing role of franchising in supporting the UAE's ambitions to build globally competitive food and beverage brands and strengthen the sector's long-term growth.

The discussions come as the UAE's food and beverage sector continues its upward trajectory. Industry estimates project the market will reach approximately US$44 billion by 2029, supported by innovation, sustainability initiatives and the country's position as a global trade and logistics hub. At the same time, an increasing number of UAE-born food concepts are seeking opportunities to scale beyond their domestic markets, creating new opportunities for franchising as a pathway to regional and international expansion.

Participating as the Forum's Franchise Enabling Partner, EFA engaged with business leaders, manufacturers, retailers, investors and policymakers from across the food value chain. The Association also hosted a dedicated Franchise Group Meeting, bringing together franchise operators and food sector stakeholders to discuss opportunities for expansion, investment and collaboration.

H.E. Ali Mohamed Al Marzooqi, Chairman of the Emirates Franchise Association and Director General at the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: "The UAE has built a globally recognised environment for entrepreneurship, investment and business growth. The next phase of this journey will be defined by our ability to create and scale homegrown enterprises that can compete internationally, strengthen economic diversification and contribute lasting value to the national economy."

HE added: "Franchising has an important role to play in that vision. It provides businesses with a framework for expansion while opening new opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors. Our participation in Future Food Forum reflects the Emirates Franchise Association's commitment to supporting sectors with significant growth potential and helping position UAE brands for long-term success in regional and global markets."

During his participation in the forum, Saleh Abdullah Lootah, Board Member and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Emirates Franchise Association, affirmed: "The UAE food sector has entered a new phase of maturity. Today, the conversation is no longer only about creating successful products or businesses, but about how we scale those successes, strengthen resilience and build companies that can compete internationally."

He added:  "Franchising offers a powerful pathway to achieve that. It enables proven concepts to grow faster, supports entrepreneurs with established business expertise and creates opportunities for local brands to enter new markets. As the sector continues to evolve, collaboration between industry leaders, investors and policymakers will be critical to unlocking the next generation of growth opportunities for UAE food businesses."

Throughout the Forum, EFA highlighted the role franchising can play in bridging the gap between innovation and commercial scale. By connecting entrepreneurs with proven business models and operational expertise, franchising can support business expansion, attract investment and help accelerate the growth of successful food concepts across the UAE and beyond.

As the UAE's recognised franchising authority and representative to the World Franchise Council, EFA continues to champion international best practices, strengthen the national franchising ecosystem and create new opportunities for UAE businesses to expand into regional and global markets. The Association also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Abu Dhabi's economic vision by encouraging entrepreneurship, attracting investment and helping build a more competitive private sector.

Suat Ozsoy (2)

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 4 October 2026: The UAE is looking to build and scale AI companies across key sectors, with finance emerging as a major area of opportunity as the technology reshapes how capital is deployed, investment decisions are made and banks operate. At Ai Everything Abu Dhabi 2026, the world’s largest AI-first Expo and Summit, taking place from 6–7 October at ADNEC Centre, the UAE Ministry of Investment will join global investors, financial institutions and fintech companies exploring the next phase of AI-driven finance.

The scale of this opportunity is already visible in Abu Dhabi’s financial ecosystem. Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) is investing more than AED400 million through 2029 to expand its AI capabilities, strengthen digital infrastructure and modernise regulatory and operational systems, while its asset management ecosystem has grown to 190 fund and asset managers overseeing 276 funds.

UAE builds on investment momentum to scale its AI economy

Participating at Ai Everything Abu Dhabi, the UAE Ministry of Investment will highlight how it is working towards translating the country’s AI investment momentum into companies, capabilities, high-value jobs and long-term economic growth.

“The ambition is not simply to attract investment, but to build and scale more AI companies in the UAE, scale AI applications across sectors, deepen local capabilities, create high-value jobs and strengthen the country’s position as a global centre for AI,” said H.E. Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister, UAE Ministry of Investment.

Central to that strategy is Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) alongside FDI. The Minister highlighted that the UAE’s DDI is estimated at US$100 billion to US$119 billion – approximately 2 to 2.5 times annual FDI inflows – with sovereign funds, family offices and private enterprises investing alongside international capital.

“What sets the UAE apart is not any one incentive, but the way its advantages come together,” H.E. Alsuwaidi added. “These include long-term government ambition, access to decision-makers, a forward-looking regulatory environment, world-class infrastructure and the ability to attract and retain the right talent.”

AI agents bring new intelligence to investment decisions

Genesis AI, an AI-powered investment advisory company based in Cairo and Dubai, will officially unveil the ‘Financial ID’ at the show. The platform coordinates more than 15 specialised AI agents across valuation, portfolio risk, market sentiment, trading signals, fundamental and technical analysis, and Shariah compliance.

“We believe the future belongs to orchestrated multi-agent AI systems, where specialist agents work simultaneously, and a master intelligence layer produces one trusted recommendation,” said Yousef Eldosoky, Product Manager, Genesis AI. “This approach improves governance, compliance, speed, and decision quality.”

Meanwhile, exhibitor FairValuation.com is showcasing how it turns financial data into board-ready decisions in minutes. From entity and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) valuations to listed-company analysis, AI-built financial models and professional presentations, every output is designed to be credible, traceable, auditable and ready for scrutiny.

Building the AI infrastructure behind the future of banking

For financial institutions, scaling AI requires infrastructure that can run it securely alongside critical banking systems. Red Hat, the world's leading provider of enterprise open source solutions, will showcase Red Hat AI on an open hybrid cloud with sovereign AI capabilities.

“The organisations that will pull ahead are the ones that put AI into how they already work,” said Adrian Pickering, General Manager, Middle East and North Africa, Red Hat. “I expect more agentic systems in the flow of day-to-day work. That only holds if local teams can see what the system is doing and supervise it.”

A new approach to fighting fraud without moving sensitive data

UAE-based exhibitor FedTuna, a federated-learning platform, enables financial institutions to train shared machine-learning models while keeping sensitive records within each organisation.

In a two-bank pilot, FedTuna says its technology increased early fraud capture by 2.0 to 3.7 percentage points at a 1% false-positive rate, equivalent to around 43 additional fraud cases detected per test period.

“A fraud pattern that is new to your bank may already be familiar to another,” said Artem Gerasimov, Founder and CEO of FedTuna. “We are building FedTuna to turn that shared experience into measurable improvements in each bank’s existing fraud detection. Customer records stay inside the bank, and its team stays in control. We measure success by the additional fraud detected at an agreed false-alarm level.”

AI helps turn savers into first-time investors

Abu Dhabi-headquartered SouqView, an AI-powered, gamified investing app, will preview SouqView V2 at the show, demonstrating how AI can help first-time investors build financial knowledge before putting their own capital at risk.

Since launching in March 2026, the app has attracted more than 400 registered users and offers simulated portfolios using live market data across more than 10,000 UAE and US stocks. Around 70 per cent of users are currently profitable in their simulated portfolios, according to the company. SouqView also won the Fintech Sector award at the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award in July 2026 and secured a six-figure Khalifa Fund grant.

"Our goal is to make SouqView the first step every investor in the UAE takes," said Mohammed Al Nasri, Founder and CEO of SouqView. "We want people to play, learn, and build real confidence, so when they invest their own money, they already know what they're doing."

Organised by inD, with the Department of Government Enablement as Host Partner and Solutions+, a Mubadala company, as Global Partner, Ai Everything Abu Dhabi brings together institutions and technology leaders shaping the next era of AI, including Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), G42, AWS, Alibaba Cloud, Mistral AI and Dell Technologies, among others.

The two-day event will articulate ‘The New Intelligence Order from Abu Dhabi, the AI Capital of the World’, convening 400-plus AI big tech companies and start-ups, 50-plus government entities, 20-plus unicorns (the year's largest gathering of AI unicorns), 200-plus investors managing US$100 billion in AUM and 180-plus international speakers.

Dubai, UAE, 30 September 2026: The UAE is among the fastest-growing AI markets globally, with businesses across key sectors significantly expanding their adoption of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies, according to new research from Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched in collaboration with the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence Office.

The "Unlocking the UAE's AI Potential 2026" report, developed by global research firm Strand Partners as part of a collaboration between the UAE Artificial Intelligence Office and AWS shows that AI adoption in the UAE has surged to 72% of businesses, up from 53% one year ago, representing 36% year-on-year growth.

Dr. Abdelrahman Al Mahmoud, Director at the UAE Artificial Intelligence Office, said: “The UAE has long recognized AI as a key driver of economic growth, better services and future competitiveness. Our focus is on creating the right environment for organizations to innovate, scale new solutions and translate the potential of AI into meaningful outcomes for society.”

Dr. Abdelrahman Al Mahmoud added: “With 72% of businesses in the UAE now adopting AI, we are seeing the impact of a model built on turning ambition into action. This progress reflects how the UAE has moved from setting a clear national vision for AI to enabling adoption at scale, creating a success story with global relevance and delivering tangible impact across the economy.”

Chris Erasmus, Managing Director for AWS, UAE & MENA Growth Markets, said: “In the UAE, leadership doesn’t wait for perfect conditions – it acts. What we’re seeing in this research reflects that: businesses are adopting AI at speed, moving beyond ‘can we use this?’ to ‘how do we scale it responsibly?’ Our investments in regional infrastructure, collaborations, and skills exist to answer that question – equipping organizations with the sovereign controls and technical capability to turn experimentation into real-world impact.”

AI is also accelerating innovation across the UAE, with 85% of AI adopters reporting a faster pace of digital change and expectations that this will increase further in the coming years.

Cloud computing continues to underpin this transformation, giving UAE businesses access to world-class AI infrastructure, tools, and solutions at scale.

To power this expansion, AWS is investing up to AED 20.1 billion ($5.47 billion) in the AWS Middle East (UAE) Region through 2037, estimated to contribute AED 41 billion ($11.16 billion) to national GDP. To give government entities and enterprise organizations total data control and compliance confidence, AWS and e& enterprise launched the AWS UAE Sovereign Launchpad, endorsed by the UAE Cybersecurity Council.

Leading UAE organizations - including Property Finder, Virgin Mobile UAE, The ENTERTAINER, and Careem - are leveraging AWS cloud and generative AI solutions to drive operational performance and transform customer experiences at scale.

The report underscores how the UAE's investments in digital infrastructure, talent, and innovation ecosystems are paving the way for an AI-driven economy aligned with the national strategies. To sustain this momentum, more businesses must move beyond incremental AI gains by building on world-class infrastructure, a strong local talent pool, and a trusted regulatory environment to unlock deep innovation at scale.

AWS is backing this momentum with a $1 billion investment with e& to deliver sovereign cloud and AI capabilities. The company is also investing in local talent through the AI Nation – Afaaq Program, aiming to equip 30,000 people across the UAE with free access to AWS training. Furthermore, AWS maintains a collaboration with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and supports initiatives like Qudwatech, a mentorship program designed to nurture Emirati women in technology across all career stages.,

The Road Ahead

The report identifies four priorities to sustain and accelerate the UAE's AI leadership, each aligned with the national goals of the UAE:

  • Accelerate responsible AI adoption supported by secure, scalable cloud infrastructure
  • Ensure policy and regulation enable rather than slow innovation
  • Address skills shortages to build the UAE's knowledge economy
  • Increase access to funding for businesses of all sizes, with a focus on AI-first startups and SMEs

With these enablers in place, the UAE is well-positioned to convert strong AI momentum into enduring global competitiveness and the full economic transformation at the heart of its national vision and goals.

Hero’s Journey to Open in Dubai this November

Hero’s Journey to Open in Dubai this November

Dubai’s first fitness studio built around your data, with coaching at every step.

30 September 2026, Dubai, UAE - Hero’s Journey, the region’s first fitness studio built around your data, will open its first international location in Dubai’s Al Quoz this November.

Founded by Iliyas Issatayev, Hero’s Journey was created around a simple conviction: access to equipment alone does not give people a plan, the confidence to follow it or a clear way to understand their progress. The Dubai launch marks the next chapter for the brand, led locally by Iliyas’s brother, Miras Ibraimov, UAE Operations Founder and Master Franchisee, who identified a clear opportunity for a more structured, coach-led training experience in the city.

The 20,000 sq ft studio brings strength, HIIT Bootcamp, functional HIIT, Metcon and Reform together under one membership, with every session coach-led and every member’s training shaped by their own progress. The combination is deliberate. Hero's Journey is built on one formula - better results come from training that is both effective and consistent, and effective training takes more than one kind of work.

“Hero’s Journey was founded to help people understand their training, not simply complete a workout,” says Iliyas Issatayev, Founder of Hero’s Journey. “As we take the brand beyond our home market, Dubai is a natural first international chapter: a city with an ambitious fitness culture and an appetite for ideas that make wellbeing more personal.”

“Dubai’s fitness scene is full of choice, but there is an opportunity to make the experience feel more connected,” says Miras Ibraimov, UAE Operations Founder and Master Franchisee of Hero’s Journey. “We are bringing together data-informed training, expert coaching and four complementary ways to move, so members have a clearer sense of how to train today and where they can go next.

Training That Learns from Every Workout

Every member’s journey begins at the Assessment Centre, where a first session establishes their baseline across strength, endurance, body composition and cardiovascular fitness. From there, every weight, rep and heart-rate reading helps build a clearer picture of how they train, what they are ready for and what should come next.

Hero’s Journey’s progress system uses that training history to shape future recommendations, while coaches bring the judgment and encouragement that data alone cannot provide. Members receive personalised weights, intensity targets and station-by-station guidance, then repeat their assessment every eight weeks to see exactly what has changed.

Five Ways to Progress

Hero’s Journey’s Dubai studio will offer a complete, multi-modal training experience through four core formats:

  • Strength: Upper Body and Legs & Glutes classes designed to build confidence, control and progressive strength.
  • Bootcamp: High-energy HIIT sessions combining treadmill intervals, free weights and bodyweight work.
  • Metcon: Functional conditioning classes focused on movement quality, power and endurance.
  • Reform: Slow, controlled HJ Reformers training that builds deep strength, stability and better movement.
  • Assessment Centre: Baseline testing, body composition scans, VO₂ max and strength benchmarks that show members exactly where they stand, and where they can go next.

The studio is designed for every version of fitness: the person returning after a break, the beginner learning to lift, the busy professional looking for a sustainable routine, or the experienced athlete seeking more structure.

Hero’s Journey is not built around a short-term transformation. It is a long-term training programme designed to help members understand their effort, build consistency and see how far they have come.

Founding-memberships are now open and the first studio experiences will be announced in the lead-up to the November opening.

Hero’s Journey is located at Warehouse No. 9, 7B Street, Al Quoz Industrial Area 1, Dubai. For more information and founding-member access, visit herosjourney.ae and follow @herosjourney.ae.
