Abu Dhabi September 29, 2026: ADNEC Group, a Modon company, has published its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, marking the tenth consecutive year of ESG reporting. The report highlights a landmark year in which the Group achieved its highest-ever economic contribution to the UAE while reducing its absolute greenhouse gas emissions, demonstrating that commercial growth and decarbonisation advance hand in hand.

In 2025, ADNEC Group contributed AED 9.2 billion in Gross Value Added to the national economy, supported more than 70,000 jobs across the UAE, and welcomed over 6.3 million visitors to more than 1,149 events across its global venues. Over the same year, the Group reduced its absolute emissions, cut carbon intensity per employee by 39%, and lowered water intensity per visitor by 47%.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of ADNEC Group, said: “2025 marked another major step forward in our commitment to responsible growth and long-term value creation. We delivered our highest-ever economic contribution while reducing our absolute emissions, clear proof that sustainability and growth strengthen one another. With all of UAE based venues now powered by clean energy, provided by EWEC,and with our updated Net Zero roadmap in place, we look ahead with confidence to accelerating our positive impact and supporting the UAE's vision for a resilient, diversified and low-carbon future.”

The year marked a significant clean energy milestone for ADNEC Group. Building on its existing partnership with the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), the Group signed a new clean energy agreement covering ADNEC Centre Al Ain, extending the use of clean electricity verified through International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy. Development also advanced on a 5 MWp rooftop solar system at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, one of the region's most ambitious renewable energy projects in the events industry, expected to generate approximately 8.57 million kWh annually and meet nearly 30% of the venue's electricity demand.

2025 was also a milestone year for social impact. The Group formally launched its Social Impact Strategy and Toolkit, codifying in a single measurable framework the social value ADNEC Group already creates through its events, venues, tourism, media and services ecosystem, from employment and SME participation to knowledge transfer, inclusion and community access. ADNEC Group’s first social impact will be published from 2026 onwards, providing transparent insights across its portfolio and supporting the Group’s long-term sustainability objectives.

The report also sets out the Group's Decarbonisation Roadmap, updated in year 2025, now targeting Net Zero across Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030 and full net zero across all scopes by 2045, five years ahead of the UAE's national net zero target.

ADNEC Group's progress in 2025 was recognised with the UAE Year of Sustainability “Plan to Action” Seal, the Majra UAE Impact Seal Gold Tier for Large Companies, four honours at the Gulf Sustainability Awards 2025, and recognition of ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) as a “Model Venue for Sustainable Business Events.”

STAVROS FASSARIS SHAPES THE NEXT CHAPTER OF MARRIOTT RESORT PALM JUMEIRAH’S F&B PORTFOLIO

STAVROS FASSARIS SHAPES THE NEXT CHAPTER OF

MARRIOTT RESORT PALM JUMEIRAH’S F&B PORTFOLIO

With 26 years of international hospitality experience, the EAM of Food & Beverage is driving a five-year vision for the resort’s award-winning dining portfolio

DUBAI, UAE – 29 September 2026: Stavros Fassaris, EAM of Food & Beverage at Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah, is shaping the next chapter of the resort’s award-winning dining offering, setting the direction for its acclaimed restaurants and bars across Palm West Beach.

Bringing 26 years of international experience to the role, Fassaris oversees award-winning destinations including Korean steakhouse Smoki Moto, rooftop Nikkei restaurant and bar Above Eleven, and neighbourhood Italian Cucina. His focus is on building on the success of the resort’s established concepts through new experiences, partnerships and pop-up activations.

Stavros Fassaris, EAM of Food & Beverage at Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah, said: “The foundation here is already incredibly strong, so the challenge is not simply to maintain what has been achieved, but to define what comes next. My focus is on building the strategic direction for the next five years - continuing to evolve our concepts, develop our people and identify new opportunities for growth; while ensuring we remain relevant in such a competitive market.”

That approach is already taking shape across the resort. Fassaris has navigated the Food & Beverage team through a challenging period for the region while continuing to drive plans forward, including the successful launch of Palm Arena 2.0, the resort’s live sports and entertainment destination in partnership with Heineken, with nearly 6,000 additional covers recorded at the pop-up venue. He has also overseen the launch of the resort’s first ladies’ night, She’s an 11, at Above Eleven.

Looking ahead, the coming months will see further developments across the resort’s dining destinations. Cucina will see a series of new experiences and collaborations, including the return of its Acquasale terrace for Dubai’s outdoor season, while Smoki Moto is set to introduce a new gentlemen’s night and Above Eleven prepares to unveil a new evening experience. Further partnerships and activations will follow as part of Fassaris’ long-term direction for the resort’s restaurants and bars.

For Fassaris, that approach is underpinned by a focus on the fundamentals of hospitality and understanding what drives guests to choose – and return to – a restaurant.

“Trends come and go, but genuine hospitality and a great classic product will always remain relevant,” added Fassaris. “In a market like Dubai, however, you cannot simply wait for people to discover you. Great product, the right price point, personalised service, storytelling and strong marketing all need to work together to build a successful and sustainable business.”

Fassaris’ career spans the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Greece, the UK and Germany, with experience across multi-outlet hotel operations, standalone restaurants, concept development and major international events.

Prior to joining Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah, Fassaris held senior Food & Beverage roles at Fairmont The Palm and W Doha Hotel & Residences. At W Doha, he led 11 outlets alongside banqueting and outside catering operations, including major catering projects for Formula 1, MotoGP and the AFC Asian Cup. He was later named Best Director of F&B 2024 by Qatar Tourism.

His restaurant experience includes the development and opening of Hellenika in Al Khobar and Riyadh, with the latter named the number one restaurant at Riyadh Season 2022, as well as the pre-opening and operations of BB Social Dining in DIFC, which was named Best Newcomer Restaurant at the Time Out Dubai Awards in 2018.

At Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah, people development remains an important part of Fassaris’ leadership approach, centred around visibility, open communication and empowering team members to take ownership. His focus is on building strong teams, while continuing to develop the resort’s dining concepts and identify new opportunities for growth.

La Dolce Vita: Eri Maldives Marks Its First Festive Season with the Sweet Rhythm of Island Living

Dubai, 29 September 2026: There is a way to close out the year that isn't a race to the finish line, but a soft landing into the one ahead. That's the one Eri Maldives is building this December.

This December, Eri welcomes guests for its debut festive season since opening, a programme built around La Dolce Vita, running from 22 December to 7 January — an ode to the sweet rhythm of island living. Bringing a touch of Mediterranean romance to the Maldives, the island dresses for the season in ceramic-tile patterns tracing bar fronts and linens, lemons resting beside woven baskets, and fairy lights strung low between the palms as dusk settles slow and golden over the water.

Where the Season Lives

The season opens with The Christmas Glow, as Eri's tree is lit for the first time beneath an amber horizon at sunset, carols rising over the tide, paired with canapés and cocktails. Travellers can also turn icing and imagination into a miniature seaside cottage at a festive gingerbread-house decorating workshop, best enjoyed on the spot.

Christmas morning brings Santa's surprise entrance, followed by an unhurried lunch of festive tropical favourites at the Christmas Banquet at Soul Kitchen. Those looking to make new friends can catch up over beach games and a Zumba breakout at the first ‘Erilympics’ on 29 December.

New Year celebrations carry that same spirit into its own send-off, unfolding in layers: starting with a treasure hunt that invites guests to discover scenic pockets of the island, with clues leading them from one corner to the next, before the evening settles into an epic gala dinner with live cooking stations turning the night into a feast that keeps giving. As midnight nears, the Seaside Soirée takes over with a playful costume competition. DJ beats signal the start of the year-end beach party, gathering everyone under the stars at Sip & Dip Beachfront as the countdown begins, with a firework show lighting up the water as the final seconds tick down and the year turns over.

The morning after is reserved for rest, with New Year Reset Brunch that asks nothing more than a slow start with comforting bites. good coffee. An invitation to test the waters awaits in the afternoon, where guests are encouraged to test the waters at group water sport taster sessions for a First Ride of the Year - the perfect spontaneous start to set the tone for a year with endless possibilities.

Travellers celebrating Orthodox Christmas can mark the occasion with an intimate shore-side dinner and lunch in early January, rounding off the season with a toast with loved ones close by.

Flavours without Rush

Foodies can look forward to a seasonal Coastal Feast, featuring Maldivian reef lobster pulled straight off the grill and charred fish dishes, or learn the secrets of Maldivian staple recipes in the hands-on The Island Kitchen cooking class.

Elsewhere, the Maldivian Village becomes a place to wander rather than simply pass through. Guests are invited to join a Maldivian High Teaexperience on the afternoon of 30 December, while a pop-up market takes over for one evening only on 5 January, with local crafts and street foods spilling into the square.

Throughout the period, a run of daily sundowners warms the festive spirit into the evenings, with themed drinks and DJ sets rotating from Island Afterglow to Sunset Soirée. Vino lovers can also swing by Sip & Dip for a special wine-tasting experience on 2 January, with sharing plates to match each vestige.

Beneath the Surface

Throughout the season, guests can sit-in on educational talks to learn about ocean ecology and geology, and take part in scenic sunset fishing adventures to head out into the open water, with the Battle of the Big Catch to dial up friendly competition before the light runs out.

For those who wants the islander take, Secrets of the Sea storytelling nights are where the resort's marine expert share tales gathered from surrounding waters, and Eri’s growing turtle community, with a Great Reef Trivia to put all that listening to the test.

Space for Stillness

As part of the period’s seasonal specials, Eskape Spa will be unveiling a seasonal ritual, Eskape Journey, with a cocoa coffee sugar scrub that softens the skin, followed by a full-body massage that loosens up muscle tension and knots.

Couples can also lean further into romance with a private escape to their own Castaway Table, a barefoot lunch set up on a secluded sandbank, with open sky and sea for company.

For the best value, book Studios from £179/night and Beach Villas from £241/night on Full Board with the resort and explore current offers at https://erimaldives.com/offers/.

Saudi Nationals Turn Their Dream of Becoming Doctors into Reality at St. George's University

Saudi Nationals Turn Their Dream of Becoming Doctors into Reality at St. George's University

Saudi Nationals Turn Their Dream of Becoming Doctors into Reality at St. George's University

Determined to pursue careers in medicine and make a meaningful difference in patients' lives, Aseel Al Jeshi and Meilad Alhashim chose St. George's University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, to begin their medical journeys. Today, as they continue their medical education, they are building the knowledge, clinical skills, and international perspective they hope to one day bring back to Saudi Arabia's evolving healthcare sector.

For Aseel, medicine was never an abstract goal. Now in her first year of clinical rotations, she is gaining valuable hands-on clinical experience that she hopes to bring back to Saudi Arabia in the future.

Meilad Alhashim arrived with the same clarity. She wanted to be a doctor from a young age, drawn by a fascination with the human body and the desire to make a tangible difference in patients' lives. Now in her third year as a medical student, she hopes to specialize in pediatrics.

"What I like about studying is not only the knowledge that I get from practicing medicine, but also my understanding of the human body. When I moved abroad, it was difficult at the beginning, but it made me stronger and more mature, and I have benefited from different types of teaching at SGU, which is really getting the best out of me," Meilad says.

For both students, SGU provided an opportunity to continue pursuing their medical ambitions at a time when their educational pathway was uncertain. Beginning their studies through SGU, they found an inclusive learning environment, experienced faculty, and a curriculum that has prepared them for clinical training and future medical practice.

Aseel points to the teaching style as a particular strength. SGU combines lectures with small-group discussions in which students examine cases, diagnoses, and pathological explanations with a doctor. Separate sessions focus on patient interaction and communication skills.

SGU has played a pivotal role in shaping both students' academic and professional journeys. Through a carefully structured curriculum that integrates foundational sciences with early clinical exposure, SGU has supported their progression from classroom learning to hands-on patient care.

Faculty mentorship, research opportunities, and career guidance have further strengthened their professional development, enabling them to be prepared not only to meet the demands of residency but also to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare landscape in Saudi Arabia.

"On a personal level, relocating abroad opened horizons to me that I didn't consider beforehand," Aseel says. "There, I had the opportunity to engage with a diverse cohort from all over the world with different ethnicities, religions, and educational backgrounds as we worked on building our CVs together."

Both students acknowledge that leaving home was not easy. The teaching was different. The environment was new. Yet the distance has given them something they could not have found by staying put.

"I aim to go back to Saudi Arabia with everything that I have learned abroad and work to improve the opportunities we have at home," Aseel says.

Their return will come at an important moment. Saudi Arabia is expanding its healthcare infrastructure and developing a highly skilled workforce through its Health Sector Transformation Program, a key pillar of Vision 2030. More than 803,000 healthcare practitioners now work across the Kingdom's health sector, and over 35,000 doctors have graduated through Saudi Board programs, according to the program's 2025 annual report.

The goal was never simply to earn a medical degree abroad. It was to gain new perspectives, develop global clinical skills, and return home ready to make a meaningful contribution to Saudi Arabia's healthcare future. As the Kingdom continues to advance its Vision 2030 healthcare ambitions, graduates like Aseel and Meilad represent a new generation of globally trained physicians committed to serving their communities.
