DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, May 28, 2025/ -- Canon (Canon-CNA.com) revealed its latest wide format portfolio developments at FESPA Global Print Expo, 6th-9th May 2025 in Berlin, Germany with significant engagement and success reported from the Central & North African region.

Through real-world applications across the retail, interior décor, Point of Sale (POS) and promotional packaging segments, Canon inspired sign makers and print service providers (PSPs) with an array of materials printed on the Arizona, Colorado and imagePROGRAF printers - as part of end-to-end workflow solutions that include both Canon platforms such as PRISMA XL Suite and multiple partner products. Under the overarching theme of ‘The Power to Move’, customer stories were brought to life, demonstrating how bold, high-impact print creates emotional connections, delivers real business momentum and transforms spaces into unforgettable brand experiences. Aligning with FESPA’s theme of ‘Where visionaries meet’, Canon showcased its collaboration with partners and highlight how it can satisfy the large format graphic needs of customers, helping them push the boundaries to expand their commercial scope.

Canon Central & North Africa marked a highly successful presence at FESPA Global Print Expo 2025, reaffirming its leadership in the wide format printing space. The event drew significant interest from the region, with 30 invited customers witnessing firsthand the power of Canon's latest technologies.

The event proved instrumental in showcasing Canon’s cutting-edge innovations—including the new Colorado M-series update, enhancing capabilities for soft signage, and the powerful PRISMAElevate XL update that opens new dimensions for the Arizona series. The enthusiasm was palpable, with several deals secured during the show, including an on-stand sale of a Colorado M-series printer and commitments for additional Arizona and M-series units. Visitors were especially inspired by Canon’s immersive customer applications corner, featuring stunning displays using specialty print media and creative finishing effects.

Amine Djouahra, B2B Business Unit Director commented: “FESPA 2025 was a game-changing experience for Canon Central & North Africa and our customers. The energy at the Canon stand was incredible—we saw first-hand how our innovations like the Colorado M-series update and PRISMAElevate XL are inspiring new business models across soft signage, packaging, wallpaper, and interior décor. Our customers left feeling not just impressed but empowered. The discussions we had and the partnerships we showcased—especially with players like Neolt and Kongsberg—demonstrated how Canon’s holistic approach to the wide format ecosystem can help customers drive revenue, differentiate offerings, and expand into new markets. The overwhelmingly positive feedback we received reinforces how vital platforms like FESPA are for fostering innovation and growth.”

Customers were particularly captivated by real-world applications like the Colorado Packaging Factory, Poster Factory, and Wallpaper Factory, alongside diverse interior décor solutions enabled by the Arizona 2380 GTF. These demonstrations highlighted the commercial potential and creative versatility of Canon’s wide format portfolio. Discussions with strategic partners such as Neolt, Kongsberg, and Lamina further deepened customer understanding of the end-to-end print ecosystem—from packaging and wallpaper to labels and signage. Notably, Morocco’s Magic Walls signed a deal for the Colorado M3W to meet growing demand in the interior décor market, with ARKEOS taking charge of local after-sales support.

A number of customer case studies were featured, including Norwegian floristry business, Fiori, which was illustrated in a real-world, interior décor, business case how strong collaboration in the value chain can maximise the potential of high-value, impactful print. Elements of Canon’s immersive World Unseen project was also on display: a unique photography exhibition which enables everyone – blind, partially sighted and sighted visitors – to experience imagery in an entirely new way, reflecting print’s potential to enrich lives and businesses.

On the stand, the Arizona 2380 GTF flatbed printer with FLXflow technology with roll media option for flexible printing from roll-to-roll, demonstrated its uniquely intelligent way to not only ‘Hold’ and ‘Float’ media, but also perform an ‘Instant Switch’ between the two modes for easy media handling. As true flatbed printers, the Arizona series can work accurately and highly efficiently with various rigid and flexible substrates, including more challenging media such as cardboard, wood or glass, offering vast application possibilities ideal for a retail or hospitality environment. Optimising the workflow, PRISMA XL Suite samples showed how PRISMAelevate XL can be used to create printed layers to a height of 4 mm, helping users create stand-out, tactile artwork for elevated print applications that enhance and expand their product offering – including braille signage.

Highlighting to PSPs and print factories its productivity, modularity and in-field upgradability, the award-winning UVgel roll-to-roll printer, the Colorado M-series, was printing a variety of large format graphics applications live on the stand. The extensive and premium range of applications it can print was presented with bright and bold wallpapers, window graphics and soft signage made possible with a number of options, such as the hassle-free white ink, FLXfinish+ technology for printing both matte and gloss at the same time, and FLXture for subtle surface details. Visitors had the opportunity to see both the Arizona and Colorado printers live in action during demonstrations on the stand.

Multiple current and new UVgel Factory configurations featuring the Colorado were exhibited with different finishing partners to illustrate its broad application options, no matter what a PSP's volume requirements or budget are. These included the UVgel Wallpaper Factory, situated on Fotoba’s stand, which showed how customers can automate production of mass-customised wallpaper at high volumes, unattended and around the clockThis end-to-end solution demonstrates the capability of the Colorado M-series when used in line with the Fotoba jumbo roll feeder, cutter and rewinder to produce a variety of curated wallcoverings. Nearby, on Canon’s finishing partner NEOLT’s stand, they presented the UVgel Packaging Factory, which displayed cost-effective and versatile digital printing for packaging as well as signage, and posters – perfect for short, custom runs.

Representing the Canon imagePROGRAF family of water-based inkjet printers was the imagePROGRAF GP-6600S (60 inch, 152.4 cm), which produces stunning graphics, ensuring precise colour replication for images and corporate colours. Boasting seven colours including orange ink, the imagePROGRAF GP-6600S can create an eye-catching spectrum of colours with PANTONE™ [1] precision [2], thanks to the innovative LUCIA PRO II inks [3], making it perfect for printing graphic applications in brand colours. The web-based poster creation software, PosterArtist, illustrated to visitors how they can easily create auto-generated, attention-grabbing posters, banners and flyers to meet all their commercial needs.

Demonstrating real-life, end-to-end workflows across the stand, Canon highlighted how its PRISMA XL Suite supports PSPs to deliver first-time-right prints and simplifies the production of complex jobs, whether it’s printing five layers or creating textured or elevated applications. Visitors were able to follow the entire workflow management process, from online ordering including file preparation and printing the job, right through to shipment. Encompassing also the software of Canon partners ERPA, SKYCO, Symphony, OneVision and Onyx, each automated step will show PSPs how a holistic approach to workflow can help them respond to constantly changing challenges and to achieve greater profitability. Visitors also had the opportunity to see a selection of Canon’s vast media portfolio, including sustainably sourced papers, for optimal printing results.

The African Development Bank approves an investment of US$100 million in Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms Limited.

ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast, May 28, 2025/ -- The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (www.AfDB.org) has approved an investment of $100 million in the industrial platform developer and operator Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms Ltd (Arise IIP) to contribute to funding industrial parks and special economic zones across Africa as a part of our industrialization strategic priority and flagship Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ).

The industrial platforms developed and operated by Arise IIP are primarily dedicated to supporting the transformation of key agricultural and industrial value chains in African countries that are leading global suppliers of raw commodities but have limited local processing capabilities. The platforms will provide developed industrial land, shared infrastructure and utilities, good export connectivity and simplified administrative procedures to agro-industrial tenants, allowing them to relocate global supply chains and value addition within African countries, while contributing to the reduction of carbon footprint of trade flows.

Arise IIP seeks to replicate its successful industrial platform implementation experience in Gabon, Togo and Benin by establishing Special Economic Zones across other African countries with the aim of improving Africa’s export competitiveness and intra-Africa trade strategies.

There is economic and social value to be added to African-grown commodities like timber, cashew, cocoa and cotton when they are processed locally instead of being exported in raw form. Through programs like the African Development Bank’s Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones and investments in Zones partner companies like Arise IIP, we enable transformative, private sector-led agro-industrialization that boosts local processing of commodities, creates jobs and grows rural economies,” said Dr. Beth Dunford, the African Development Bank’s Vice President for Agriculture, Human and Social Development.

Based on Arise IIP’s existing portfolio in Gabon (Gabon Special Economic Zone - GSEZ), Benin (Glo Djigbe Industrial Zone - GDIZ) and Togo (Plateforme Industrielle d’Adetikope - PIA), it is estimated that over 400 companies have been on-boarded from 47 industry sectors, which has led to the creation of over 50,000 jobs. The dominant sectors include wood, glass, soya, cashew processing, cotton processing and textiles, ceramics, beverages, pharmaceuticals and meat processing. It is also estimated that over $7 billion has been mobilized by tenant companies within the existing zones.

This investment in ARISE IIP is a signal of the Bank’s commitment to scaling up industrialization in Africa in value chains where we are competitive. This is also a demonstration of the strategic partnership we have with African MFIs such as the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and the Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA), the Afreximbank’s equity impact investment arm, who are the principal equity investors in ARISE IIP. This is a good demonstration of our joint goals of making Africa’s capital work better for Africa’s development”, said Solomon Quaynor, African Development Bank’s Vice President for Private Sector, Infrastructure and Industrialization.

Gagan Gupta, CEO of Arise IIP, remarked, "The African Development Bank’s investment highlights their confidence in our model as a driver of Africa’s industrial growth. We are excited to strengthen our efforts in transforming local value chains, creating jobs, and supporting sustainable economic development across the continent. The dedication, vision, and hard work of the entire Arise team have been instrumental in building this partnership."

Kingston Technology empowers Middle East Enterprises to Securely Transition from Windows 10 with advanced SSD and DRAM Solutions

Dubai, UAE – 28 May 2025: As Microsoft prepares to end support for Windows 10 in October 2025, Kingston Technology, a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, is helping organizations across the Middle East take control of their upgrade path with future-ready SSD and DRAM solutions. Through its trusted expertise and high-performance technology, Kingston is guiding enterprises toward a secure, seamless transition to modern platforms such as Windows 11 and Windows 365.

With digital transformation being a cornerstone of UAE’s and Saudi Arabia’s national visions, particularly under initiatives like the UAE Digital Government Strategy 2025 and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, enterprises cannot afford to run critical operations on unsupported software. Kingston is committed to guiding IT leaders through a rapid, smooth and cost-effective migration that minimizes risk while boosting productivity and compliance.

“As organizations in the Middle East plan their next move, Kingston stands ready as a strategic partner to deliver the tools and knowledge needed for a smooth migration,” said Khalil Yazbeck, Business Development Manager – UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman, Kingston Technology. “Our next-generation SSD and DRAM solutions not only support Windows 11’s hardware requirements but also unlock higher performance and longer device life, enabling smarter investments and faster returns.”

Upgrading to Windows 11 goes beyond meeting basic hardware specifications, it’s about unlocking the full potential of modern systems. While compatibility with TPM 2.0 and the latest CPUs is required, transitioning to higher-capacity next-generation memory and storage can significantly boost system performance, enhance user productivity and enable organizations to fully leverage the capabilities of the new platform. Kingston’s NVMe SSDs and high-performance DRAM are designed to meet these demands by enabling smooth system upgrades, accelerating boot times and file access, supporting efficient multitasking and extending the lifespan of existing hardware. This results in improved productivity and the ability to handle demanding workloads including those driven by AI and data-intensive applications.

For many organizations in the region, upgrading existing devices represents the most practical and future-proof approach. It strikes the right balance between cost and performance while aligning with long-term IT strategy as the Windows ecosystem continues to evolve.

Some enterprises may consider doing nothing, an approach fraught with risk. Unsupported Windows 10 systems will no longer receive critical security updates, leaving organizations vulnerable to cyber threats and compliance issues. Others may opt to stay on Windows 10 and pay for extended support. While this buys time, it’s a costly short-term fix that delays the inevitable migration and doesn’t improve system performance.

Buying new devices is another path. It guarantees compatibility and offers the latest in performance and features. However, it comes with high upfront costs, especially when evaluating AI PCs, which may still face software and compatibility challenges, as well as limitations in memory and storage upgradability, especially in AI laptops.

Upgrading existing devices stands out as the smartest path forward. By enhancing current systems with Kingston SSDs and DRAM, organizations can run Windows 11 efficiently, boost system performance and extend device lifespans, delivering high ROI without major capital expenditure.

“Kingston’s role goes beyond providing hardware, we are enabling Middle East enterprises to future-proof their operations,” added Yazbeck. “Our mission is to deliver performance without compromise, helping organizations turn a looming challenge into a competitive advantage.”

With a legacy of trust, innovation, and global reach, Kingston Technology is the reliable partner enterprises need to navigate this critical transition with clarity and confidence.

With a strong international focus, the biennial fair, which has the institutional support of the Spanish Ministry of Defense, reinforced its global role.

Feindef Foundation President Ángel Olivares said the focus was "essential" to guarantee "our security and defense" and that, at the same time, "opens a very hopeful path for the future."

The fair, held from May 12 to 14 at Ifema Madrid, had 601 exhibitors (75% SMEs), of which 187 were international, and more than 90 delegations from different countries.

There was "intense diplomatic and commercial activity with representatives from 56 nations," according to organizers.

During the three days, key issues in the sector were covered, such as unmanned systems, cyber defense, advances in artificial intelligence applied to military logistics, dual application technologies, and other major structural challenges, such as the importance of attracting and retaining talent and making young people more security aware.

The fair served as an "ideal framework to facilitate agreements on international strategic alliances," said Olivares. The president also saw it as a space to continue advancing towards "a single defense market in Europe." This is in a context, in which EU leaders have agreed to boost security and defense spending, which, according to Brussels, could result in a rise of up to 800 billion euros.

The event also served as a platform for formalizing more than a dozen relevant agreements. Those include ones reached by Ukraine with both national and international companies, those made by TEDAE (Spanish Association of Technology Companies for Defense, Security, Aeronautics and Space) and AESMIDE (Association of Contractors with Public Administrations), letters of intent signed by the Spanish Ministry of Defense with the European Defense Agency (EDA), and a memorandum of understanding signed between Spanish industry and Turkish Aerospace for an integrated training program for the Spanish Air and Space Force.
