The collaboration aims to enhance parking payment experiences across the UAE by integrating Salik’s advanced eWallet system. The partnership is based on a five-year contract, during which Parkonic will integrate Salik’s eWallet into the 107 locations it operates and any other future locations it may operate in the UAE. The agreement also marks the first time Salik has expanded its service offering outside of the Emirate of Dubai.

Under the terms of the agreement, Parkonic will promote Salik as the preferred payment channel for its customers at all current and future locations, utilizing Salik’s capability of providing a seamless and convenient payment option for paid parking. For providing the eWallet services, Parkonic will pay Salik a percentage of their share of parking revenue generated through the Salik eWallet. The solution is expected to be available for Parkonic’s c.135,000 parking spaces during the first quarter of 2025.

الإمارات العربية المتحدة، أبوظبي، 24 نوفمبر 2024: استضافت المبزرة الخضراء في العين، يوم الأحد بتاريخ 24 نوفمبر 2024، حدثًا مجتمعيًا للمشي لمسافة 3 كيلومتر على هامش فعاليات "مبادرة المشي لمسافة 1000 كيلومتر"، حيث اجتمع أكثر من 700فردًا من مختلف الأعمار والاهتمامات ليكونوا جزءًا من هذا الحدث المميز الذي أطلقته مؤسسة الإمارات بالتعاون مع "بيورهيلث" ضمن برنامج "أكتف أبوظبي".

 

يهدف الحدث المجتمعي إلى تحفيز الأفراد على تبني نمط حياة صحي ومستدام من خلال المشي والنشاط البدني المنتظم، وتعد هذه المبادرة جزءًا من الجهود المستمرة لتشجيع الأفراد على دمج النشاط البدني في روتينهم اليومي، مع التركيز على تحسين الصحة العامة واللياقة البدنية.

Saudi Arabia is readying to Host Landmark World Investment Conference (WIC) 2024 in Riyadh

This year’s conference theme: ‘Harnessing Digital Transformation and Sustainable Growth: Scaling Investment Opportunities’.

Baku, Azerbaijan – Deputy Minister of Strategic Planning & Monitoring at the Ministry of Tourism, Ageel Alshaibani, participated in the Ministerial Meeting on Enhanced Climate Action in Tourism organized by the COP29 Presidency and hosted a side event titled “Tourism, Climate Action and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” at Saudi Arabia’s National Pavilion at the climate change conference.  Alshaibani highlighted the importance of aligning tourism with climate and sustainability objectives, and detailed how the Saudi initiative on the Sustainable Tourism Global Center (STGC) will drive this critical transformation.

 

“Tourism has a unique opportunity to lead in advancing sustainable development,” said Alshaibani. “Through STGC, we are committed to creating a tourism sector that contributes positively to the environment, strengthens local communities, and provides a model for responsible growth. Our initiatives are designed to empower governments, businesses, and communities alike to take bold steps toward a sustainable future for tourism.”

 

The Ministerial Meeting on Enhanced Climate Action in Tourism was hosted by COP29 Presidency, UN Tourism, the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan and UNEP, and gathered Ministers and high-level officials of more than 30 countries from across the globe to discuss the alignment of tourism policies and practices with climate action. 

 

Both the Ministerial Meeting and the side event hosted by Saudi Arabia showcased STGC’s mission as a multi-country, multi-stakeholder initiative organization dedicated to advancing the tourism industry’s shift toward sustainable practices. Launched by Saudi Arabia, and to be headquartered in Riyadh, STGC will bring together governments, industry leaders, academia, and civil society to join forces to address the industry’s environmental footprint, protect biodiversity, and uplift tourism-dependent communities. Alshaibani’s remarks emphasized the need for comprehensive actions that can drive measurable improvements across the tourism sector.

 

As part of the discussions, Alshaibani highlighted several Saudi projects representative of its Vision 2030 agenda and commitment to sustainable tourism. Neom, the zero-carbon megacity with 95% of its land preserved for nature, Red Sea Global’s pledge to carbon neutrality and zero waste to landfills, and the upcoming King Salman International Airport, designed to meet LEED Platinum standards, were spotlighted as examples of how the Kingdom is setting new benchmarks for sustainable tourism. “These projects show what can be achieved when sustainability is prioritized in tourism and infrastructure development,” added Alshaibani.

 

Saudi Arabia’s efforts through STGC extend beyond domestic projects, with a vision to unify global stakeholders in creating a sustainable tourism sector. Launched by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, STGC was conceived as a platform to track and support the tourism industry’s progress toward sustainable practices while fostering a shared commitment to environmental stewardship. The Center will offer resources, facilitate partnerships, and develop tools for countries and organizations to reduce tourism’s environmental impact and promote long-term sustainability.

 

Alshaibani also highlighted the broader economic impact of sustainable tourism, noting that sustainable practices are critical not only for environmental preservation but also for economic resilience and job creation. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, global tourism is projected to contribute $11.1 trillion to the economy in 2024, exceeding pre-pandemic levels. With small and medium enterprises comprising 80% of the sector and women representing around 40% of its workforce, sustainable tourism has the potential to support inclusive growth and empower communities worldwide.

 

As STGC seeks to lead the global tourism sector toward a more sustainable future, it welcomes collaboration with governments, businesses, academia, and civil society. “The stakes have never been higher,” Alshaibani remarked. “Our collective actions today will shape the future of tourism and its role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. STGC stands ready to support, innovate, and lead the way.”

باكو، أذربيجان 24  نوفمبر 2024 - شاركت المملكة العربية السعودية في الدورة التاسعة والعشرين لمؤتمر الأطراف في اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغير المناخ (COP29) الذي يُعقد هذه السنة في مدينة باكو بجمهورية أذربيجان. ومثّلت وزارة السياحة المملكة في اجتماع وزاري نظمته رئاسة الدورة، وفي فعالية إضافية بعنوان «السياحة والعمل المناخي وأهداف التنمية المستدامة»، جمعت قادة وخبراء عالميين في القطاع السياحي في الجناح الوطني للمملكة، حيث ركّزت الوزارة على إبراز التزام السعودية وجهودها في مجال الاستدامة في القطاع السياحي.

ومثّل وزارة السياحة وكيل الوزارة للتخطيط الاستراتيجي والمتابعة عقيل الشيباني، حيث سلّط الضوء على أهمية مواءمة قطاع السياحة مع الأهداف المرتبطة بالمناخ والاستدامة، كما ركّز على المبادرات التي تنفّذها المملكة عبر المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة لقيادة التحول نحو تعزيز الاستدامة في القطاع.

وشدّد الشيباني على دور القطاع في تعزيز الاستدامة، قائلًا: «لدى قطاع السياحة فرصةٌ مميزةٌ لقيادة مسيرة التنمية المستدامة وتعزيزها، ونحن ملتزمون من خلال المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة ببناء قطاع سياحي يترك أثرًا إيجابيًا على المستوى البيئي، ويعزّز قدرات المجتمعات المحلية، ويتحوّل إلى نموذج للنمو المتوازن الذي يراعي اعتبارات الاستدامة والبيئة. ولقد صمم المركز برامج ومبادرات تهدف خصيصًا لتمكين الحكومات والقطاع الخاص والمجتمعات على حد سواء، من اتخاذ خطوات تحوّلية جريئة تبني مستقبلًا مستدامًا للسياحة».

وضمن أعمال المؤتمر، استضافت رئاسة الدورة التاسعة والعشرين – بالشراكة مع منظمة الأمم المتحدة للسياحة، والوكالة الحكومية للسياحة في أذربيجان، وبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة – الاجتماع الوزاري بشأن تعزيز العمل المناخي في قطاع السياحة، الذي جمع وزراء ومسؤولين حكوميين رفيعي المستوى من أكثر من 20 دولة من مختلف أنحاء العالم، حيث ناقشت الدول المشارِكة سبل مواءمة السياسات والممارسات المعتمدة في قطاع السياحة مع العمل المناخي.

وقد أبرزت الفعاليتان دور المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة وأهميته كمنصة عمل دولية متعددة الأطراف، تجمع عددًا من أصحاب المصلحة، وتسعى لتعزيز مسار التحوّل نحو الاستدامة في قطاع السياحة واعتماد الممارسات المستدامة. ومنذ أن أطلقته المملكة العربية السعودية، عمل المركز من مقرّه في الرياض، على دعوة الحكومات وقادة القطاع والنخب الأكاديمية وأفراد المجتمع إلى توحيد جهودهم للتخفيف من البصمة الكربونية للسياحة، والحدّ من أثرها البيئي، وحماية التنوّع البيولوجي، والنهوض بالمجتمعات التي تعتمد على عائدات هذا القطاع. وقد أكد الشيباني في كلمته خلال الفعالية الإضافية، على الحاجة إلى اتخاذ إجراءات متكاملة على مختلف الصعد، تؤدي إلى تحسّن ملحوظ في قطاع السياحة.

وخلال نقاشاته مع المشاركين، أشار وكيل وزارة السياحة للتخطيط الاستراتيجي والمتابعة إلى العديد من المشاريع السعودية التي تعكس رؤية السعودية 2030، والتزامها بالسياحة المستدامة، ومنها مشروع نيوم، المدينة العملاقة الخالية من الكربون والتي خصصت 95% من أراضيها للحفاظ على البيئة. كما استعرض أمثلة أخرى تُبرز جهود المملكة لوضع معايير عالمية جديدة للاستدامة، منها التزام مشروع شركة البحر الأحمر الدولية بتحقيق الحياد الكربوني وعدم توجيه نفايات إلى المرادم، إضافةً إلى مشروع مطار الملك سلمان الدولي القادم الذي صُمّم وفقًا للمعايير البلاتينية لنظام ريادة الطاقة والتصميم البيئي (LEED). وأضاف الشيباني أن هذه المشاريع تشكّل خير دليلٍ على ما يمكن تحقيقه عندما نضع الاستدامة أولويةً مطلقةً في مبادرات السياحة وتطوير البنية التحتية.

ولا تقتصر الجهود التي تبذلها المملكة العربية السعودية من خلال المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة على المشاريع المحلية وحدها، بل تصل إلى المستوى الدولي لتوحيد رؤى أصحاب المصلحة العالميين وبناء مستقبلٍ مستدام لقطاع السياحة.

وكان صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء - حفظه الله -، قد أطلق المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة، ليكون منصةً تُعنى برصد نمو قطاع السياحة وتطويره، ودعم ممارسات الاستدامة فيه، مع تعزيز الالتزام العالمي المشترك بالمسؤولية البيئية. كما يعمل المركز على توفير الموارد، وتسهيل الشراكات، وتطوير الأدوات اللازمة للدول والمنظمات بهدف الحد من الأثر البيئي لقطاع السياحة، وتعزيز استدامته على المدى الطويل.

كما تطرّق الشيباني خلال مشاركته إلى الأثر الاقتصادي الشامل للسياحة المستدامة، مشيرًا إلى أهمية اعتماد ممارسات الاستدامة ليس فقط للحفاظ على البيئة، بل لتعزيز المرونة الاقتصادية وخلق فرص العمل أيضًا. إذ يُتوقع أن يساهم قطاع السياحة في الاقتصاد العالمي بمبلغ 11.1 تريليون دولار أمريكي في عام 2024م، متجاوزًا مستويات ما قبل الجائحة، وذلك وفقًا للمجلس العالمي للسفر والسياحة.

وتبرز أهمية نمو قطاع السياحة وأثره الواسع في ظلّ الحضور الكبير للمنشآت الصغيرة والمتوسطة فيه، إذ تشكّل هذه المنشآت 80% من مؤسساته، وتمثل النساء حوالي 40% من القوى العاملة فيه، لذا تملك السياحة المستدامة القدرة على دعم النمو الشامل، وتمكين المجتمعات في جميع أنحاء العالم.

وفي هذا الإطار، يسعى المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة إلى قيادة قطاع السياحة العالمي نحو مستقبل أكثر استدامة، ويؤكد ترحيبه بالتعاون مع الحكومات والشركات والأوساط الأكاديمية والمجتمع لتحقيق هذا الهدف. وتأكيدًا على ضرورة هذا العمل، قال الشيباني: «إن المخاطر تتزايد مع مرور الوقت، لذلك، فإن ما نعمل عليه الآن جميعًا، سيرسم معالم مستقبل السياحة، ودورها في تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة، ويقف المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة على أهبة الاستعداد لدعم هذه الرحلة وقيادتها، وتعزيز الابتكار فيها».

قمة LiveableCitiesX في معرض الخمسة الكبار تستعرض مواهب الهندسة المعمارية والتصميم من الجامعة الأميركية في الشارقة

 

الشارقة، 24 نوفمبر 2024 - تشارك كلية العمارة والفن والتصميم في الجامعة الأميركية في الشارقة في قمة "LiveableCitiesX"، ضمن فعاليات معرض "الخمسة الكبار" العالمي في دبي في الفترة من 26 إلى 28 نوفمبر، بمعرض يحمل عنوان "تصميم المستقبل: كلية العمارة والفن والتصميم في معرض الخمسة الكبار".  يُقام المعرض في الجناح Z6 F70، ويعرض أعمالاً مبتكرة من مبادرة الكلية التعليمية  "التصميم والبناء" والحائزة على عدة جوائز، بالإضافة إلى مختارات من معرض "ست درجات"، المعرض السنوي الذي يقدم مشاريع خريجي الكلية في مجالات العمارة والتصميم والتخطيط الحضري. ومن المقرر أن يستقطب المعرض اهتمام الآلاف من زوار معرض "الخمسة الكبار"، أحد أبرز الفعاليات العالمية في قطاع الإنشاءات.
