The 2026 GWPR Annual Index – the only global survey for women working in PR and Comms - will explore the impact of AI on PR careers, skills and the future talent pipeline

 

Global Women in PR has launched its eighth Annual Index, inviting women working across PR and communications around the world to share their views and experiences.

First launched in 2019, the GWPR Annual Index, conducted in partnership with Opinium Research, has become an important global benchmark for tracking the progress of women in public relations. Each year, the survey explores issues including flexible working, leadership representation, boardroom presence, career breaks, ageism, diversity and inclusion, and harassment in the workplace.

To maintain year-on-year comparison, the core survey remains consistent each year, enabling GWPR to monitor long-term trends and identify where meaningful progress is being made. For 2026, the survey includes a new focus question on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the PR industry, reflecting one of the most significant shifts currently facing communications professionals worldwide.

The new AI section will look at how AI is being used in day-to-day PR work, from content drafting and campaign measurement to research, graphics generation and recruitment assistance. It will also explore the concerns women in PR have about the rise of AI, including the potential impact on entry-level roles, reduced opportunities to learn on the job, over-reliance on AI-generated content, misinformation risks and the growing emphasis on technical skills.

The 2025 GWPR Annual Index revealed that while progress toward gender equality in public relations continues, it remains slow and uneven. The 2025 study found that male-dominated boardrooms had dropped from 61% in 2024 to 51% in 2025, showing steady improvement. However, 85% of respondents said more must be done to ensure women have greater boardroom presence.

Other findings from the 2025 Index highlighted persistent barriers including caring responsibilities, inflexible working practices, lack of transparency around recruitment and promotion, the ongoing impact of career breaks, harassment in the workplace and a concerning reduction in visible DE&I commitments.

“Since launching the first GWPR Annual Index in 2019, our ambition has been to create a consistent global benchmark that helps the industry understand where progress is being made, and where women in PR continue to face barriers.

The value of the Index is that it allows us to track change year on year. While each survey reflects the mood of the industry at that moment, the consistent structure gives us the evidence we need to keep the conversation focused, informed and accountable.

For 2026, we felt it essential to look at the impact of AI. It is already changing the way PR professionals work, but we need to understand what that means for women’s careers, skills development, entry-level opportunities and future leadership. AI brings enormous opportunity, but we must make sure it does not create new barriers or widen existing inequalities.

We are asking women across the global PR and communications industry to take a few minutes to complete the survey and add their voice. Every response helps us build a clearer picture of the industry today and supports GWPR’s ongoing work to champion more inclusive and representative leadership.”

 UAE-Ukraine CEPA Officially Enters into Force

• In 2025, non-oil foreign trade between the UAE and Ukraine reached US$346.8 million.

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 30 June, 2026: The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the United Arab Emirates and Ukraine officially entered into force on July 1st, signifying a significant advancement in the two nations’ economic ties. The agreement aims to create new opportunities for trade, investment and private sector collaboration, strengthening the UAE's relationship with a key European market and reinforcing its role as a global trade hub.

The CEPA will eliminate or reduce tariffs on a wide range of goods and services, facilitating easier market access and broader global outreach. It is expected to bolster private-sector collaboration, empowering businesses and entrepreneurs in both countries to expand their operations internationally. Under the agreement, 99% of Ukrainian imports of UAE goods and 97% of Ukrainian exports to the UAE will be exempt from customs duties with immediate effect. The agreement is forecast to contribute US$369 million to the UAE’s gross domestic product (GDP) and US$874 million to Ukraine’s GDP by 2031.

In 2025, non-oil foreign trade between the UAE and Ukraine reached US$346.8 million. The CEPA aims to revitalize non-oil trade which reached a peak of US$904.4 million in 2021, demonstrating the potential for growth that this new agreement can unlock.

His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, expressed his optimism for the agreement's prospects, stating, "The UAE-Ukraine CEPA represents a landmark moment in our economic partnership. This agreement is designed to revitalize trade flows, unlock new avenues for investment, and foster collaboration across essential sectors, thereby benefiting both nations. By aligning our economic strategies, we can drive resilient and sustainable growth in an ever-evolving global landscape."

The UAE is committed to expanding its global trade footprint with this latest CEPA serving as a vital addition to its strategy of enhancing economic relationships worldwide. With the UAE's goal of achieving US$1 trillion in total trade value by 2031, the CEPA with Ukraine is another step towards realizing this vision with 37 agreements secured and 17 now in force.

أبوظبي، 30  يونيو 2026: دخلت اتفاقية الشراكة الاقتصادية الشاملة بين الإمارات وأوكرانيا حيز التنفيذ رسمياً في الأول من يوليو 2026، ما يمثل خطوة مهمة نحو تعزيز العلاقات الاقتصادية بين البلدين. وتهدف الاتفاقية إلى خلق فرص جديدة للتجارة والاستثمار والتعاون بين القطاع الخاص في الجانبين، بما يعزز علاقة دولة الإمارات مع أحد الأسواق الأوروبية المهمة ويؤكد مكانتها مركزاً عالمياً للتجارة.

وتعمل الاتفاقية على إلغاء أو خفض الرسوم الجمركية على مجموعة واسعة من السلع والخدمات، بما يسهل الوصول إلى الأسواق ويعزز فرص التوسع العالمي. ومن المتوقع أن تسهم الاتفاقية في تعزيز التعاون بين القطاع الخاص وتمكين الشركات ورواد الأعمال في البلدين من توسيع أعمالهم دولياً. وبموجب الاتفاقية، وبموجب الاتفاقية سيتم إعفاء 99% من واردات أوكرانيا من السلع الإماراتية و97% من الصادرات الأوكرانية إلى دولة الإمارات من الرسوم الجمركية بشكل فوري.

وحسب دراسات الجدوى، ستضيف الاتفاقية نحو 369 مليون دولار إلى الناتج المحلي الإجمالي لدولة الإمارات و874 مليون دولار إلى الناتج المحلي الإجمالي لأوكرانيا بحلول عام 2031.

وتهدف الاتفاقية إلى إعادة تنشيط التجارة غير النفطية بين البلدين التي بلغت ذروتها عند 904.4 مليون دولار في عام 2021، ما يعكس الإمكانات الكبيرة للنمو التي يمكن أن تتيحها هذه الاتفاقية، علماً بأن قيمة التجارة البينية غير النفطية بلغت 346.8 مليون دولار في عام 2025.

وقال معالي الدكتور ثاني بن أحمد الزيودي، وزير التجارة الخارجية: "يمثل دخول اتفاقية الشراكة الاقتصادية الشاملة بين الإمارات وأوكرانيا حيز التنفيذ محطة مهمة في مسيرة علاقات الصداقة الممتدة بين البلدين. فقد صُممت الاتفاقية لإعادة تنشيط التدفقات التجارية، وفتح آفاق جديدة للاستثمار، وتعزيز التعاون في القطاعات الحيوية، بما يحقق المصالح المتبادلة للبلدين. ومن خلال مواءمة استراتيجياتنا التجارية والاستثمارية، يمكننا تحقيق نمو قوي ومستدام في ظل المشهد الاقتصادي العالمي المتغير باستمرار".

وتواصل دولة الإمارات توسيع حضورها التجاري العالمي، حيث تمثل هذه الاتفاقية إضافة مهمة إلى استراتيجيتها الرامية إلى تعزيز العلاقات التجارية والاستثمارية مع مختلف دول العالم، حيث أنجزت الدولة حتى الآن 37 اتفاقية، دخلت 17 منها حيز التنفيذ.

Le nouveau Conseil consultatif infranational marque la première fois que les gouvernements nationaux membres de CHAMP intègrent officiellement les perspectives et l’expérience des gouvernements infranationaux dans la structure de gouvernance et de prise de décision de la coalition   Londres, 25 juin – La Coalition for High Ambition Multilevel Partnerships (CHAMP) or Climate Action a annoncé la création de son nouveau Conseil consultatif infranational, marquant une étape historique dans le renforcement de la coopération entre gouvernements nationaux, locaux et régionaux dans la réponse mondiale à la crise climatique. L’ancienne maire de Paris, Anne Hidalgo, a également été annoncée comme présidente du Conseil. L’annonce a été faite lors de la London Climate Action Week (LCAW), à l’occasion de la première réunion du Conseil, en présence de maires, de gouverneurs et des co-présidents de CHAMP – représentants du Brésil et de l’Allemagne – réunis afin d’accélérer l’ambition climatique et la mise en œuvre des actions.   La création du Conseil consultatif infranational de CHAMP constitue une étape majeure dans la réalisation des objectifs de l’Accord de Paris grâce à un renforcement de la gouvernance multiniveaux et à une action climatique coordonnée à tous les niveaux de gouvernement. Pour la première fois depuis la création de la coalition, CHAMP – une coalition dirigée par des pays – intègre officiellement les villes, États et régions dans sa structure de gouvernance, créant ainsi un canal direct pour porter la voix et le leadership des gouvernements infranationaux auprès des 78 soutiens de la coalition (gouvernements nationaux et Union européenne). Le Conseil consultatif infranational contribuera à garantir que les réalités locales et régionales, l’expertise et les solutions climatiques alimentent directement l’orientation stratégique, les priorités de plaidoyer et les efforts de mise en œuvre de CHAMP.   Il réunit des représentants de villes et de régions du monde entier – de grandes comme de plus petites collectivités – toutes apportant des contributions uniques à l’action climatique. Cette structure représentative garantit que les voix et l’expérience des gouvernements infranationaux contribuent directement à définir l’orientation stratégique, le plaidoyer et la mise en œuvre de la coalition. دبي، 23 يونيو (حزيران) 2026: حصدت طيران الإمارات 3 جوائز مرموقة خلال حفل توزيع جوائز "بزنس ترافيلر الشرق الأوسط 2026"، بما في ذلك جائزة "أفضل ناقلة جوية في العالم"، إلى جانب جائزتي "أفضل درجة أولى"، و"أفضل صالة مطار في الشرق الأوسط" عن صالة الدرجة الأولى للناقلة في مطار دبي الدولي.   وتُعد جوائز "بيزنس ترافلر الشرق الأوسط" من أبرز الجوائز المتخصصة في قطاع السفر على مستوى المنطقة، حيث تكرّم المؤسسات الرائدة في مجال سفر الأعمال استناداً إلى ترشيحات وتصويت قراء المجلة. وتسلّم الجوائز المرموقة نيابة عن الناقلة، عدنان كاظم، نائب الرئيس والرئيس التنفيذي للعمليات التجارية في طيران الإمارات.   وتعكس هذه الجوائز التزام طيران الإمارات المتواصل بالاستثمار في تطوير تجربة السفر الاستثنائية التي تقدمها سواء على على الأرض أو في الأجواء. وتواصل الناقلة تنفيذ برنامجها لتحديث الأسطول بوتيرة متسارعة، حيث يشمل البرنامج حالياً 219 طائرة من طرازي الإيرباص A380 والبوينج 777، إلى جانب مواصلة استلام طائرات الإيرباص A350 الجديدة التي تتيح تقديم أحدث منتجات المقصورات والتقنيات المتطورة عبر عدد متزايد من الوجهات ضمن شبكتها العالمية التي تمتد إلى ما يقارب 140 وجهة.   وتخدم الطائرات المحدثة وطائرات إيرباص A350 الجديدة اليوم أكثر من 70 وجهة ضمن شبكة طيران الإمارات العالمية، ما يوفر تجربة سفر أكثر تطوراً واتساقاً للعملاء المسافرين إلى دبي أو منها أو عبرها.   وتواصل تجربة الدرجة الأولى لدى طيران الإمارات ترسيخ معايير الفخامة للسفر التجاري الراقي، حيث يمكن للعملاء الاستمتاع بأجنحة خاصة مغلقة بالكامل، وخدمة تناول الطعام حسب الطلب التي تضم أطباقاً مستوحاة من وجهات الناقلة إلى جانب تناول الكافيار بلا حدود، والحصول على بيجاما مرطبة فاخرة، ومستحضرات العناية بالبشرة من Byredo، ومنتجات الاستحمام المستدامة من Voya، بالإضافة إلى أطقم العناية الشخصية من بولغري لضمان راحة وانتعاش المسافرين خلال الرحلات الطويلة، إلى جانب تجربة الشاور سبا والصالون الجوي على متن طائرات الإيرباص A380، وغيرها من الخدمات المصممة بعناية لتوفير تجربة استثنائية للعملاء.   كما تمتد هذه التجربة المتميزة في الدرجتين الأولى والأعمال إلى ما قبل الصعود إلى الطائرة، من خلال خدمة السيارة مع سائق في نحو 90 وجهة ضمن شبكة الناقلة، وخدمات المطار ذات الأولوية، وإمكانية الدخول إلى صالات طيران الإمارات المنتشرة في أكثر من 30 وجهة حول العالم.   وحصلت صالات الدرجة الأولى التابعة لطيران الإمارات في مطار دبي الدولي على جائزة أفضل صالة مطار في الشرق الأوسط، لما توفره من خدمات وتجارب حصرية تشمل قوائم طعام حسب الطلب، وعلاجات مجانية في المنتجع الصحي، ومنطقة تسوق فاخرة للأسواق الحرة، وتشكيلة مختارة من أفخر أنواع المشروبات، إضافة إلى إمكانية الصعود المباشر إلى الطائرة من بعض البوابات.   وتواصل طيران الإمارات استثماراتها في تطوير منتجاتها وخدماتها وشبكتها العالمية لتعزيز مكانتها الريادية في قطاع الطيران، وفي إطار هذا التوجه، بدأت الناقلة مؤخراً توفير خدمة الإنترنت فائق السرعة "ستارلينك" على متن طائراتها، ومع اكتمال البرنامج ستشغل أكبر أسطول دولي من الطائرات عريضة البدن المزودة بهذه التقنية على مستوى العالم. وحتى الآن، تم تجهيز 36 طائرة بالخدمة، ما يتيح للعملاء بث المحتوى، وإجراء المكالمات، والعمل، وممارسة الألعاب الإلكترونية، وتصفح وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي طوال الرحلة.   كما أطلقت طيران الإمارات مؤخراً برنامج "التأمين الشامل للسفر"، وهو منتج رائد يوفر مستويات إضافية من الحماية والطمأنينة للمسافرين. وفي وقت لاحق من العام الجاري، وتحديداً في أكتوبر (تشرين الأول)، ستدشن الناقلة خدمة يومية إلى هلسنكي، لتصبح بذلك الناقلة الوحيدة التي توفر رحلات مباشرة ومنتظمة على مدار العام بين فنلندا ودولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, June 23, 2026: SeaWorld® Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, the World’s Largest Indoor Marine Life Theme Park, today announced the arrival of a healthy Pacific walrus calf. The calf is a celebrated new addition to the Marine Life Theme Park’s Arctic Realm.

Born to mother ‘Smooshi’, under the close supervision of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s dedicated veterinarians and animal care experts, the delivery marks the region’s first walrus calf to be born in a zoological facility. Both mother and calf are doing well, a testament to the welfare-focused, habitat design and the world-class standard of care provided by SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s team.

Together, they are bonding in their new home within the Arctic Realm’s walrus habitat. This carefully designed space simulates the Arctic’s cold temperatures and natural light cycles, providing a safe, stimulating environment essential for the calf's early years. During this development phase, the calf will remain constantly by Smooshi's side, relying on her for protection, comfort, and guidance as it continues to grow and explore its surroundings.

The calf and Smooshi are among the walruses residing at the Marine Life Theme Park, where they help educate and inspire guests about these remarkable Arctic marine mammals. Through close-up experiences and educational programs, guests learn about the importance of marine conservation and the environmental challenges facing Arctic ecosystems, including the impacts of climate change and sea ice loss.

John Crane marks International Women in Engineering Day by encouraging more women to pursue engineering careers

United Arab Emirates, Dubai – 23 June 2026: – John Crane, a global leader in flow control technologies and a business of Smiths Group plc, is marking International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) 2026 by celebrating the career journey of Sook Won Moon, Vice President of Engineering Solutions, while encouraging more women to consider careers in engineering.

UAE Pavilion Highlights Defence Innovations as Eurosatory 2026 Nears Final Day

Paris, 18 June 2026: With just one day remaining at Eurosatory 2026, the UAE Pavilion has established itself as a premier destination for defence industry leaders and military delegations, attracting high-level visits throughout the week that underscore the UAE's growing stature as a strategic partner in the global defence landscape.

Supported by the UAE Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, and organised by ADNEC Group, a Modon company, the pavilion has served as a unified showcase of the UAE's defence capabilities throughout the week, bringing together leading national defence entities under one roof to engage with global industry stakeholders.

On the fourth day of the exhibition, the Pavilion welcomed delegations from the armed forces of various nations, further building on the momentum established since the event's opening. Throughout the day, 77 meetings were held between UAE national defence entities and international defence exhibition organisers.

Notably, the 2027 editions of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX) held 68 of these meetings, with visitors and exhibitors expressing strong interest in participating in the upcoming edition. Additionally, the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) hosted 12 meetings, while the International Exhibition for National Security and Resilience (ISNR) held 18.

The UAE Pavilion welcomed 2,040 visitors on day four of the event, including senior military officials, industry CEOs, and international delegations, reflecting the quality and growing competitiveness of the UAE's defence sector on the global stage.

The consistent flow of high-profile visitors throughout the exhibition reflects not only interest in the UAE's defence innovations but also confidence in the nation's approach to international collaboration, building partnerships, co-development, and mutual capability enhancement.

With Eurosatory's final day on 19 June 2026, UAE national entities, including EDGE Group, Resource Industries, and Emirates Cable Corporation Interconnect, are maximising remaining opportunities to advance discussions initiated earlier in the week and convert dialogue into concrete partnerships.

باريس، 18 يونيو 2026: نجح الجناح الوطني لدولة الإمارات في ترسيخ مكانته كوجهة رئيسية لقادة صناعة الدفاع والوفود العسكرية من مختلف أنحاء العالم في اليوم الرابع من معرض "يوروساتوري 2026" الذي يعقد في العاصمة الفرنسية باريس ويستعد لليوم الختامي غداً (الجمعة)، حيث استقطب على مدار الأسبوع زيارات لوفود رفيعة المستوى تؤكد المكانة المتنامية لدولة الإمارات كشريك استراتيجي موثوق في المشهد الدفاعي العالمي.

 

وتأتي مشاركة الجناح بدعم من وزارة الدفاع الإماراتية ومجلس التوازن للتمكين الدفاعي، وتنظيم مجموعة "أدنيك"، إحدى شركات "مُدن"، حيث أصبح الجناح الوطني لدولة الإمارات على مدار أيام المعرض منصة وطنية موحدة لاستعراض القدرات الدفاعية الإماراتية، جامعاً تحت سقف واحد أبرز الجهات والشركات الوطنية العاملة في قطاع الدفاع للتواصل مع مختلف الأطراف الفاعلة في الصناعة الدفاعية العالمية.
